GOOD NEWS: you just discovered magic. BAD NEWS: you specifically just discovered magic, there's nobody more experienced who can explain how to clean up the mess.
James is really late when coming home, and Severus being who he is, is immediately spiraling- angrily. He's cursing himself out, convinced he is doomed to be just like his mother and marry a complete jack off.
Meanwhile, James comes home with a stuffed bat he found, flowers, and chocolates because he felt like Severus wasn't feeling too great that morning.
but have you ever had someone leave a comment with a paragraph-long review of your fanfic containing genuine praise, thorough criticism, and an in-depth analysis of all the lore hints you dropped that you spent ages intricately crafting
Maybe the meaning of life is simple, something in front of us and basic. Like reproduction. We're here to grow our species and that's it, but then again, there are people who can't reproduce, does that make them meaningless? If so, why would they be here.
Maybe it's something more naive, like leaving the world better than you found it, but what if someone makes a massive mistake. If they regret it, does it even matter anymore? Are they officially meaningless?
Maybe it's to just live for ourselves, but then why do we have empathy? Why do we feel sad for others if it benefits us?
Okay, so maybe it's to help others and ourselves? But then there are people who cannot feel emotions, people who don't need help, people who cannot help themselves or others, are they meaningless?
Maybe it's more religious, to spread the word of God. To be honest, that makes the most sense to me. We're so uniquely designed, everything is ordered in such a way that it's hard to believe there is nothing in charge of us, maybe there is a God and maybe there isn't, but I'm leaning towards Yes. But then, isn't that what the Bible does? The Q'uaran?
Or perhaps there's no meaning. We're here and now, and nothing matters. That's terrifying, but freeing. At the end of all of this, our souls, which are trapped in our flesh, claw their way out of us, leaving this puppet to be reclaimed by nature, something that will absorb us completely, like a mother to a child. Our souls, minds, our energy and atoms will always be here, even though it doesn't matter. Maybe that's it. We learn, we love, we live, or maybe we don't. We do whatever and eyeball everything because it's everyone's first time living and we don't get second chances.
So go out there. So you chose a bad job, find a new one. Go back to school, explore, travel, play games, get drunk, do whatever, be whatever, because at the end of your life, as your soul rips from your body and bones like a prisoner from a cell, it won't worry about anything here, embarrassed, ashamed, mistakes, it'll look back and wonder why you never changed your job? Had a family if you wanted one? It wants experience, not safety and comfort.
Baby Harry, like 1-3 MAYBE 4. Point is, he's really young, Voldemort isn't back, and Severus had been tasked with watching over him. He constantly says he hates watching over the baby, says he doesn't want to at all, says he feels nothing for the boy.
Of course, being a spy, he has to attend death eater meetings. Per say one of the members found out about Harry, and now to "prove his loyalty" he has to bring him in. He thinks it's going to be fine, maybe a couple of harsh words, but nothing bad.
He's mistaken (of course) and has to watch as Harry is mistreated. Up to you to decide HOW mistreated. Maybe it's a couple of slaps, I prefer crucio.
Extra angst if Severus is 'invited' to join, and has to harm Harry.
"One day I am gonna grow wings."
Harry - I will get out of this place if it's the last thing I do, I will get better even If I have to claw off my own flesh.
Snape - I'm going to die, maybe then my soul can escape.
James Potter the type of guy to use chatGPT to write a 500 word essay.
I understand Severus to a nearly unreasonable degree.
"But he joined the death eaters!" Okay? And? His father was a muggle who was terrible to him and others, if there was a military hate club, I'd join too! I hate the military for no reason, purely because of my dad, so, given that he actually had a reason, it's understandable.
"But he's mean to students!" Bro, I would've been fired years ago for child mistreatment, I'd be throwing desks, shouting, etc— hell no.
"But he just walked over James' dead body!" Cool, and I would've taken a selfie, like?? Iconic king?
