Bruce Wayne, on live TV, gets asked who his favorite superhero is. As soon as that question leaves the reporters mouth, Bruce feels his stomach drop. He can’t pick himself, his kids would mock him for days, and he can’t pick any of his kids, as the other ones would probably poison him, and he can’t pick any of the other JL members without them mocking him-
All of a sudden, Bruce’s mind flashes to a small town hero whose profile he had been reading over in his afternoon board meeting. “My favorite hero is Phantom from Amity Park. Not many people know him, but I really admire him and his dedication to the job.”
There, short and sweet and probably going to end with the least amount of mockery.
Meanwhile, in Amity Park, three teenagers gaped at the screen as their homework lay forgotten in their laps. “Danny-”
“what is happening.”
“That was Bruce Wayne-”
“WHAT IS HAPPENING???”
SVSSS AU where there is a system error when transmigrating Shen Yuan, so instead of being Shen Qingqiu, he's just a random NPC, but Shen Qingqiu still suffers from a qi deviation and does actually lose his memories. Shen Yuan, who looks like Shen Qingqiu due to the botched transmigration, decides to take advantage of the memory loss and goes to Cang Qiong and claims to be Shen Qingqiu's long lost brother. Yue Qingyuan is sceptical, but all the other Peak Lords believe him and allow him to stay with Shen Qingqiu. Shen Yuan eventually gets him to agree to allow Shen Yuan to look after his disciples and he starts by making Luo Binghe's life less miserable.
Shen Qingqiu does eventually regain his memories, but he never calls Shen Yuan on his bullshit, in fact, he plays along and acts like he's been looking for Shen Yuan for years. He even tells Yue Qingyuan that Shen Yuan is an actual brother and that he could fuck off with his accusations.
Shen Yuan believes that he was able to trick Shen Qingqiu, but in reality Shen Qingqiu is lonely and likes having Shen Yuan as company, plus he no longer needs to train the disciples which was a job that he hated
He still doesn't like Luo Binghe, especially now that he takes a lot of Shen Yuan's attention, but Shen Yuan likes the beast so he doesn't do anything about it
(years down the line the Abyss arc still had to happen, but when Luo Binghe returns it's not to kill Shen Qingqiu, but to fight him for custody of Shen Yuan)
Danny doesn't have the best spatial awareness, you'd think he would given his bout as a vigilante, but his rogues all had the convenient ability of setting off his ghost sense and letting him know when to turn on his awareness.
So when he was taken in by Bruce Wayne in Gotham, far away from any ghosts or portals, he just didn't have any reason to be on guard. It worked well for him since his vigilante days were over and he could put all his focus on school again.
But you see, when he was first taken in, it was just him and his foster brother Tim staying at the manor.
Fast forward to now, Danny gets home from school to find not only Bruce waiting at the table for dinner, but a kid who looks surprisingly like Bruce??? The kid is small, rude and trying to be threatening in a way Danny doesn't really see as such, like the kid is like 8 how much could they really do???
Turns out a lot.
After Danny and Tim sat down and the introductions were made, Bruce filled them in on the situation that was Damian. Tim seemed to take it as a new puzzle, looking to Damian and Bruce periodically as if he could get answers simply by staring. Danny took it in stride, it isn't that unusually for a rich guy to have secret flings that result in children down the line.
Dinner was in full swing when it happened, there had been some bantering the entire time and many threats of bodily harm coming from Damian which weren't met with as many reprimands as Danny assumed it should. A distinct thunk sound was heard after a particularly harsh threat and Danny looked over to see a knife now embedded in Tim's chair where his head once was.
Before he could react, Bruce was standing with a sharp reprimand and Danny collided harshly with his chair as a new knife embedded itself in his shoulder. He cried out in shock, it has been over a year since his last ghost fight and honestly he forgot how much that hurts!
Aka, Bruce and Dick are forced to take Damian's threats more seriously when the civilian Danny is in the crossfire instead of just the trained vigilante Tim.
[Group Chat: Batfam Surveillance]
Red Robin: There's a new meta in Gotham. Looks like a ghost.
Nightwing: A ghost? Are we talking actual ghost or just someone who really needs to hydrate?
Red Robin: Actual ghost. He's glowing. I'm running scans now.
Batman: Keep him under observation. Gotham doesn't need more problems.
Robin: I can handle him. He's probably just another foolish vigilante.
Signal: He's flying. I just saw him phase through a building. Pretty sure he's not a "foolish vigilante."
Oracle: I'm pulling satellite footage… okay, weird. He's fighting something. A… green blob?
Red Hood: Blob? Like Clayface's cousin?
Red Robin: Nope. That's ectoplasm. 100% ghost confirmed.
[Danny Phantom has joined the chat]
Danny: Uh, hi? Could you not stalk me? I'm just here for the blob.
Red Robin: … How did you get in this chat?
Danny: Hacker friend. Don't worry, I'll leave. Nice to meet you guys! Also, tell your caped guy to stop brooding on the rooftops; it's creepy.
Batman: …
[Danny Phantom has left the chat]
Red Hood: I like him.
Why would Clockwork de-age Danny and then just leave him in Gotham for Batman to steal? No, he'd raise that boy himself. Fuck letting others get their grubby mitts on his new son. He wants to make sure he doesn't turn evil like Dan and this is the only way he knows it will work 100%.
That is until someone summons the ancient of time and gets a baby because the portal was a little to the left.
Now Clockwork is sending ghosts to go retrieve the boy since he can't leave the realms.
Part 1: The Incident
Clark had been having a normal day—or at least, as normal as any day could be when you were Superman. That was until he saw the kid lift a car.
It wasn’t a small car, either. A full-sized SUV, pinned beneath a collapsed traffic light, and the scrawny teenager had simply walked over and lifted it with about as much effort as someone lifting a grocery bag.
Clark barely contained his shock, watching as the kid set the car down gently and checked on the driver. The kid was calm, like this was a completely normal thing for him.
No one else seemed to react. Civilians were too distracted by the aftermath of the attack, and the other heroes who had arrived were already busy handling the damage. Clark, however, couldn't look away. He didn’t even hear the Flash talking at first, until the speedster nudged him.
“You okay, Big Blue?” Barry asked, smirking. “You’re staring.”
Clark blinked, finally snapping out of it. “Did you see that?”
Barry shrugged. “Yeah, kid’s strong. Good for him.”
Clark narrowed his eyes. “Strong like a Kryptonian.”
Barry’s smirk widened. “Huh. Well, when you put it that way…” He clapped Clark on the back and zipped off before he could press further.
Clark turned his attention back to the kid, who had already wandered off to help clear more debris.
Clark had questions.
*This happens before the watchtower scene in The Kryptonian Question. Not that they're directly connected they're more so different versions of each other*
Masterpost
De-Aged Danny, gesturing to a dazed Bruce inside Wayne Manor: And this is Bruce! Otherwise known as the Himbo! Reporters: Hmm, yes, interesting... Bruce: What the- Danny: I'm not sure what that word means. I heard it from Dick, but no one will give me my answer, not even Jason, who is easily bribed. Bruce: Why are there reporters in my house!? Danny, innocent and childlike: They asked to come inside, Bruce! They seemed like really nice people, so I thought it'd be polite to give them a tour. Bruce, filled with infinite patience: I really wish you had asked me before you did that, chum. Danny: But why? We don't have anything to hide... do we, Bruce?
Or, in order to rise to the Ghost Throne, Danny has to complete a series of trials to prove he is capable of ruling (or any other reason, Danny just needs to do trials to prove himself).
The last trial, issued by Clockwork, is thus: discover the Wayne Family secret in two weeks without the use of any of his powers.
He has one shapeshift to pick a form that could endere him to the Waynes, but only one before he starts and he has to get close to the family by his own wits. Danny, after studying the family and reading of one sentence summary of each Wayne, picks the body of a six-year-old little boy that looked like a child Jason Todd.
Bruce: That child is up to something. Dick, third favorite: I don't know, Bruce; he acts like a normal kid. Jason, #1 favorite: I doubt the old man's ever met a normal kid. Tim, least favorite: Bruce is right, but can you please not talk like the villains from Chicken Run.
I have no bones, just brain worms
Y’know those fics where Danny was the older, better brother who ran to protect Damian? What if Damian was the older, better brother, who, to protect his brother, sent Danny away?
I mean, what Talia are we using here? The one that watched her son whisk his brother away, or the one who’s so consumed by her father’s wants and preemptive grief that she missed it entirely?
Does Damian feel the safest place for Danny is as far away from him as possible? Does it ever get back to the rest of the bats? Have Damian and Talia had this conversation by candlelight, over who can know about Danny? No one, right? The tighter the circle, the safer he is.
But what about when Ra’s is dead? Is it considered too big a risk, to chance that Ra’s won’t somehow resurrect? Did Damian go to see Danny, and bring him home, and instead find a beaming pre-teen, with solid friends, a great sister, and loving parents? Did he leave Amity without even saying hi? Does he know Danny is Phantom? Has he decided that anyone even tangentially knowing of Danny is too much of a risk? Is Damian apart of the media blackout?
What would happen if he caught wind that someone found Danny? That they were planning an attack? What lengths would he go to, to protect his little brother?
dude im LISTENING! i love this subversion of popular fandom tropes
Bad Fenton parents reveal but instead of the usual Trope of going to Gotham he goes to Bludhaven just a few months before Nightwings first appearance.
Danny accidentally stumbles into information breaking mostly because he's Gathering all of his information himself by accidentally stumbling into back alley deals, he is not supposed to find and then turning intangible so he doesn't get shot at.
Danny isn't really Nightwings priority when he first gets there and he definitely uses his services as he's cut off from his main source of information.
The two of them end up having a very good relationship as the two of them are bouncing quips off of one another by their second meeting. Danny brings out the side that is mostly tucked away at the time from Nightwing as he is still in his angsty just left home phase.
Nightwing doesn't tell the bat family about Danny originally because he is estranged but eventually it becomes Danny being only his team. Gotham has all of the bat family and Nightwing has Danny. It will take years before anyone meets Danny.
I am trying to find a writing prompt from last year.
Basically Jason Todd teaching an online cooking class, that Danny Fenton is trying to learn from but keeps accidentally reanimating the ingredients and one day he forgets to turn off the microphone as he has to kill the reanimate fish. And Jason is then going to investigate what the heck fighting he just heard.
