It’s sad that JoJo is really good at countering toxic masculinity in its source material but the fandom response is often just plain stereotyping. Shipping characters and having headcanons is great and all but if you look at a JoJo character and assume they’re gay based on their APPEARANCE and MANNERISMS alone you actually have a problem. Seriously, fans who post screenshots of JoJo characters simply dressing flamboyantly or doing ANYTHING remotely not stereotypically masculine with the caption “HOW CAN ANYONE ARGUE THEY’RE STRAIGHT” takes years off my lifespan.
can we talk about Dazai desperately trying to pull from his tragically limited will to live, trying to hand Oda all the tricks he tried to develop for himself to find a reason to stay alive like everyone else seems to have, all because seeing someone he cares about give up on living was too hard?
Can we talk about how it shows that despite his grim outlook on life, Dazai still wants to try to figure it out, because there has to be something he's missing, he just needs to look harder, and can Oda come with him to search for it, they will figure it out together?
Can we talk about how Oda gave up, but didn't want Dazai to follow suit, so he gave Dazai his own tricks he developed for himself to find meaning in his life: help people, take care of those who need it most, be good, then at least the world won't appear so grim.
They were friends, they recognized each other's darkness as their own, and both tried (clumsily, a bit insensitively) to give the other the tools to get out of that darkness. Dazai wasn't equipped to help a man whose darkness came from violence, but Oda had somewhat made the leap from bad to good before it all came crashing down, so he tried to hand that knowledge to his friend, to give him something different, before his death took that last opportunity from him.

The more I am trying to help fundraisers reach a wide berth of people, the more I am realizing that tumblr is a very performative website. Posts which are detailing a fundraiser have very little interaction, as opposed to those that point out the injustice of it all and have a tone of anger. But anger is not sustainable...if you want us ( those who are actively monitoring the fundraisers ) to give you a cause to rally against, if that is the only thing what moves you to donate, then how long can this go on? What does it even say about how you view the lives of people who have been forced to fundraise? They are not tinder to keep stoking your fuel of righteousness.
Every fundraiser which I am personally monitoring seems to only crest when the tumblr community at large either feels that appropriate bit of "oh yeah look I am so cool for rallying behind the cause." Or if there is a tragedy, an unimaginable pain a person has been put through and thus can evoke enough empathy/sympathy in the masses....what is this? What can one even say to this?
