While rewriting my WIP chapter. I need to play with the brain.

Send me 5-10 word Life Series prompts in my asks and I'll make something about the length of a drabble. No smut otherwise go wild. Also I do better with serious stuff but wouldn't be opposed to attempting something relatively cracky.

I would... I would like. Literally die of joy to make a written story out of this. Like I don't know how far I'd get. But like. This is too totally awesome.

I just don’t get it. How can our society act so goddamned normal about seahorses. How can anybody so casually accept that that’s a fish???

This is one of nature’s most anatomically perverse of all beasts. A FISH, like a carp or a bass or a beta is a fish, but it bent its body straight up only to bend its head permanently back down. It stretched its skull into a pipe. It tapered its tail like a lizard, specifically like a chameleon. It can also move its eyes independently by the way, you know, like a chameleon. Fun fact, it can change color to express its mood, like you know whatever does that. It doesn’t properly swim anymore. It buzzes its few remaining fins like an insect’s wings to float itself around at a snail’s pace. It lives its whole life clinging to coral branches or seaweed, which means it decided to become a “tree dweller” in an environment where gravity didn’t even matter anyway. The males get pregnant. They make noises at each other by rubbing some of their neck bones together. Every day, EVERY DAY a mated pair does a little dance and a little neck bone song so they remember which two seahorses they were. They’re a beautiful precious obscenity. Nothing so adorable ever made such a strong case against a logical creator.

They have as little skin and meat as they could get away with. Their skeleton is almost all they are.

I need tips for writing Joel? Cause I've got a Chapter 2 lined up from Joel's perspective where he's coming back on the ship, but I don't know how to write it

If it helps, here's what I've got:

"The ship was in full disarray. The crew rushed back and forth, heaving lines and tightening the sails, throwing the sandbags overboard. Everyone was ecstatic to be returning home after three years at sea, "

Yes that's all that's in the chapter right now and yes I stopped in the middle of a sentence

In case you don’t know, project LUMEN is an in-development indie game adaption of the Life series, a Minecraft YouTube series created by Grian. Featuring a full RPG experience: battles, a branching timeline with limitless choices, custom and unique visuals from our talented team of artists and, of course, lore: there's a path for everyone to take.

So, hello and welcome to the Writing corner, and we are looking forward to your potential application! 

Now, do not feel intimidated. While we look at examples of your fanfiction writings when considering you, we are not judging your capabilities to write for the game that harshly, because, as you may notice, a game is not fanfiction. It is a script! 

Here’s a basic guide to script writing so you’re not gonna join in blind. And once chosen, you will be guided through the ropes of learning how to write that way! This to say, don’t worry about prose. In the applications we will be mainly looking at dialogue, characterisation and maybe a bit of scene handling. 

This project is big, but I’d like to think the workload isn’t. While LUMEN has a small team of writers, we have managed to split the work between us, going at a steady pace of one seasons/timeline per month, with a week break in between. 

In our normal process, we have each of the seasons’ small and big events alike written down in bullet points and put into a Google Sheet for the Writers to claim. They are the ones to decide on what they want to write, and that usually ends up with them having a two week deadline for the writing of one thousand words-ish. Though we understand if a deadline can’t be met, more time can always be given- we aren’t monsters. That’s the Watcher’s job. Not the Speakers’. 

We also have a meeting every other Sunday to talk about progress and make sure our writings all line up, while also planning out what needs to be done next. These meetings are very fun though, trust.

So make sure to apply when applications come out on the 30th of april, and get in before they close on the 20th of may!

My art for my Project Lumen UI designer application! Featuring:

-A bunch of buttons (Grian would be so proud); a specialized button for each of the Winners to access Reputation across the server (no clue if a feature like that is possible or planned but thought it would be fun :D); dialogue boxes for being on Green, Yellow, and Red life; the Main Menu button; and Inventory button.

Knowing my tendency to cry when games even slightly hit them good themes or have sadness/bittersweetness overwhelming joy, I will likely end up bawling on the floor in the best way possible
