I came across your post about how horikoshi pretty much vindicated/validated the way different factions of the bnha fandom sexualize the teen characters, but I'm not sure if it'd be okay for me to rb. I ship characters from this manga because I like to explore the potential duos and relationship dynamics we could have gotten -my fav being a non-canon mlm pairing, but my blog is sfw. I do not ship bkdk or tgchk, either. So yeah, just making sure if you'd be okay with me interacting, given the disclaimer you wrote at the beginning of that post.

Thanks for reaching out and acknowledging by boundaries. To answer your question you’re free to reblog my post regardless of who you ship. You don’t seem to violate any of my personal boundaries afterall. Don’t let me dictate who you can or cannot ship especially if it makes you happy and you seem self aware.

If you were a bkdk fan in particular I don’t think I’d have an issue with it, just as long as you A. acknowledge the ship itself is inherently toxic, B. not a proshipper, C. you’re okay with ppl disliking it (does not count if they’re attacking you directly and you’re innocent), and D. you condemn the toxic shippers.

That’s rare to come across, and to anyone else who’s reading this…particularly bkdk stans, if you do not tick all the requirements then that means the shoe fits and I want nothing to do with yall.

Fyi I’m not really a shipper in general, just someone who prefers written analysis of plots, arcs and sometimes pre-established couples that actually work. Once in a while there are one or two ships I’d obsess over, but even then I’m a tunnel vision type of fan so you won’t see me glazing every fancontent of them, I’m just here picking and choosing before going back to my small curated cave.

I hope I don’t come across as snobby or this stuck up “I’m better than you lust driven obsessed shipers” type of fan. I’m sorry if I do, sometimes my wording can come across as blunt or odd….But on the other hand I don’t find myself gravitating to shippers because the census create unnecessary discourses from their rose tinted glasses and they’re just not someone I’d turn to have a proper discussion with. They’re often delusional and feed of breadcrumbs, and its even worse when they’re a fujoshi shipper who ship (pale skinned) men but I’m getting too ahead of myself.

Once again you’re free to ship whoever you like if it makes you happy, I can’t stop you and you shouldn’t let me stop you. But I’m thankful you’ve reached out for clarification!

As I have previously said, what Aizawa told Izuku during the quirk assessment was the worst possible thing he could have said to him at the time. Izuku feels the need to prove he is worthy - of existing generally - by being useful. And Aizawa added more fuel to the fire by declaring that Izuku would be useless after saving one person. It only lead to more self destruction because this just exacerbates Izuku's low self worth.

It's not even an accurate description of what happened during the forest training arc. The only person Izuku saved with his quirk was Kota. But Izuku's direct actions at a minimum saved Tokoyami and Shouto. Indirectly, he may have saved most of the hero course. Izuku was the one that made it in time to give Aizawa's permission to fight to Mandalay. Izuku's actions took out the members of the League's Vanguard Squad with the highest body count at the time: Muscular and Moonfish. Without Izuku, the kidnapping would have been the least of their worries. There would have been several deaths.

But all Izuku can think of is when the adults in his life told him that he was worthless because he was unable to achieve a perfect victory in an impossible situation as an unlicensed student.

Anyone else thinks it's funny how everyone agrees the ending sucks ass but it's when they didn't get something they want? Like it took certain fans seeing that MHA was ASS was with Tomura's death. But now people don't like MHA's ending because Midoriya didn't want to join Bakugo's agency and Bakugo kind of looked sad about it. Like oh my Loooord. I swear people do not pay attention unless it's something like.

This is often the case for a lot of works. People, (and I'm including myself in this), tend to not realise when something is bad as it happens, only when it ends.

Of course, this isn't the case for everyone. A lot of people noticed how incompetent the storytelling and writing was, but a large portion of the audience didn't have any issues until the ending.

This is both because the final war saga was full of flaws, whereas the flaws previously were more spaced out, AND because the main demographic is young boys. Not just that, but MHA soon became the introductory anime to many.

Because MHA is so closely based upon western tropes and action, being mainly inspired by Marvel and DC, it was the anime to ease new watchers into the anime medium. People who have no idea what other anime are capable of telling watch MHA, and it's great! It's flashy, everyone has superpowers, it's funny, it has dark content, it's not afraid to kill people off...

But, well, when all you've seen is MHA, all you can compare other anime to is MHA.

Young kids who aren't concerned with and don't know how to look out for all those flaws, and people new to the scene who don't know how other anime compare.

Horikoshi spent a long time giving the villains a sympathetic backstory, explaining exactly how they ended up where they are, and he offers no solutions.

There was certainly a level of lip-service paid towards it. But nothing actually put into play.

The HPSC is shown to be corrupt, raising child soldiers and driving Nagant off the deep-end, but nothing is done or even planned to abolish this corruption. Instead, Hawks becomes president over the very company that abused and groomed him.

Quirk Marraiges were made illegal far before canon, but Endeavour proves that they're still an actual thing. What is done to circumvent this? Nothing. Not even an activist group.

Endeavour, in general. He abused his kids, neglected them, abused Rei and drove her insane. Everything is brought to light. But nothing changes. People don't come to the realisation that heroics is a job, not a state of mind. They just forgive Endeavour because 'hE cHaNgEs'.

Mutant discrimination. What is done to help mutants become more accepted? Nothing. Shouji just yells at them that violence isn't the answer, but there's nothing actually put into play to help mutants.

Quirk discrimination in general. People with weak or 'villainous' quirks are treated like shit, (apparently). What is done to help them? ... Oh, yeah, NOTHING!

There were many early signs that MHA was going to bad. I mean, the QAT is even more biassed than the entrance exam, but Aizawa is painted as being a fair teacher. At least the entrance exam placed value on having heroic spirit with rescue points - Aizawa's QAT favoured anyone with a physical quirk.

The second heroics lessons was a simulated battle in an enclosed environment, rather than, oh, you know, learning how to fight. Bakugou nearly kills Izuku, and Aizawa just tells him to grow up.

People ignored the signs, and I did too for while, because of that hope that it would improve over time. Because the world was interesting, and it seemed to be developed.

It was not, but the minor level of lip-service made it seem like it was.

People flipped out when Izuku rejected Bakugou's offer to be his sidekick, as if that would have been a satisfying ending. People flipped out over IzuOcha being confirmed, despite it being heavily implied since the beginning.

People have turned on MHA because it didn't give them the ending they wanted. That's not to say that the ending wasn't bad - it absolutely was. But not for the reasons people brought up.

The world has barely changed from where it started, Izuku isn't even allowed to work his way into heroics, hero rankings are still a thing for some reason, the HPSC hasn't changed, and it just felt like a wasted journey.

And that's what MHA is, in the end. A wasted journey.

So in your mind Bakugou, a child, should have died? Really?

Bakugou is a fictional character.

The parasocial relationship and puritan crap I keep seeing is just weird.

But if you actually want what I think should have happened with Bakugou? I said it before: his arc should have ended with him being mid-rank and completely content with being a secondary hero. No agency, no top twenty position.

Bakugou is set up as being what society thinks a hero should be. Strong, fit, Flashy Quirk.

Yet as we know he's not a good perso. He makes fun of the guy who doesn't have a Quirk which is treated as a disability. He uses rude nicknames which kinda are Quirkist to. Commenting on the physical appearance of mutant characters who are said to suffer from discrimination due to said appearance. The fact he not only purposely triggers a side effect of a Quirk but seems to mug Kaminari for money to give to Kirishima despite the fact he is a rich kid. (I can’t remember if its said the money is his or not but its one of those panels I never know about.) The aggressiveness, the rudeness- it adds up.

What should have happened if we want to make Bakugou go through character development to be a better person is that he 1) faces more consequences for his attitude then he does in canon (IE: he is called out for the insults and name calling. A few angry comments from Shouji, Tsu or any of the mutant characters should have occurred. He gets called out and when he doesn't change people avoid him. He is ignored by them unless they are working with him or he needs help. Its made clear they do not want to be around him.) 2) faces actual punishment for his actions towards Izuku or others (IE: Kaminari makes a complaint about being forced into whey mode, Bakugou gets a warning or something. He receives punishment for nearly killing Izuku during the battle trials and ignoring a teacher. He is disqualified for trying to attack Todoroki after his match at the sports festival, not that mess of a situation) 3) Is not in any way an ‘important’ character.

The third one is tricky so I'll explain. It goes beyond the ‘Izuku shouldn't be have to be friends with Bakugou like he kind of is’ issues I have.

By this I mean Bakugou should be redundant as a character and the narrative shows it. He should find himself sinking while everyone else climbs higher. His Quirk SHOULD have actually drawbacks we see. Not just the mention of wrist issues. We should see him hurt himself and need to take a second. He should have frankly lost the sports festival to Uraraka and not gone on. And part of that SHOULD have been his Quirk not working how he wanted it to. Because the world relies on Quirks and Bakugou is hyper reliant on his.

Make it clear that's why. Then I want Bakugou to not be at the top of the class. Why? Because he is the normal fish who moved from his tiny pond to a big old ocean. Yes, he’s smart but take it from someone whose brother was smart in a small town: that don’t mean shit when your teachers suck.

Bakugou can be top ten. I just want him to have to face the fact he isn't the top of the class. The big dog on campus because everyone else is just as driven as he is, and some of them are smarter or faster or more skilled then he is.

This should end with Bakugou making his realization after the final exams where he hits Izuku and is flunked for it. It should have been noted and due to the fact in a real situation like that you'd end up probably arrested or investigated, he fails.

This should have been the turning point. When we actually see Bakugou break down. When the class has stepped away from him. When the only one sticking around is Kirishima because the guy honestly thinks Bakugou can be a better person.

Key phrase: CAN BE. Not that he is. I want it to be clear Kirishima sees good in Bakugou and wants to bring it out. Not that Bakugou is secretly a tsundere.

This is the turning point became it leads to the LOV attacking the camp looking for Bakugou because they see him like them. I want them to have noticied his antics in the festival where he is aggressive and loud. I'd like for Aoyama to have been feeding info about recruits. I want Bakugou to hear they want HIM as he's villainous and this should shake him.

He isn't kidnapped. Someone else is. Tokoyami actually to bring focus to mutation and Quirk discrimination.

I want Bakugou to truly have to look at HIMSELF as a person. And realize he isn't what he wants to be. A hero.

This leads into him eventually becoming a much better person as he works through his shit. Its going to be messy. And I want him to struggle through it. While doing so he slowly fades into the background. We turn attention to Uraraka, Todoroki, Tsu, Aoyama and Iida as the secondary characters to our protagonist Izuku.

We get to know them, we get to know Aoyama as he integrates himself into their circle. We have way more of a punch for the traitor.

In the end I want an apology from Bakugou to Izuku that is meaningful and honest and then… he goes off, becomes a hero ranked like 150 and is happy. He's buddies with Kirishima and a few others, he goes to the reunion with a hi. Maybe the offer of a team up or not.

And I think that would have been the perfect ending to his arc. From the bully to the atoner.

One last autistic rant from me and I'll be quiet, but the way Horikoshi treated Mic? My god! Brace yourself, because this will be long.

He's one of the few competent adults in the series but his opinions are always dismissed. Over and over again. And he used to be a prominent character in the series before being shoved into the background. I feel that was intentional because Mic was one of the characters that debunked some of Horikoshi's plot points.

"Bakugou is being a bit aggressive towards a girl I know is sweet and doing her best." Don't care. Get smacked in the face by Horikoshi's self insert, even though you were thoughtful enough to watch over him while he was in A FULL BODY CAST!!!

"Hey, this guy might be abusing his son. Shouldn't we do something?" No one asked. Just keep on commentating, commentator. So nosy.

"There might be a traitor in UA." That’s stupid. We will start losing trust in each other if we start pointing fingers, says the guy who is supposed to be a sharpshooter.

"You're obviously favoring this kid because of Oboro." Shut up, Mic. No one asked you. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to neglect my actual students in favor of this self-victimizing kid.

"Our friend is a nomu and we found out who the culprit is." I'll only go if you do, but don't really want anything to do with it.

"Our other close friend died." Shut up, Mic, and tell me about the students that I've neglected up until this arc.

"I was right! There was a traitor!" Yeah, but he still can be a hero. See, even your friend who was negatively by the traitor is siding with him. You're just a jerk, Mic.

"I went to the hospital to save Oboro, who I've known longer than Aizawa, and he isn't there anymore." Shut up, Mic! You're just being negative.

"I'm sorry for crying. I'm supposed to be a man." I wasn't asking you, Mic. I was talking to our friend who is more so your friend because I only ever use him as an excuse for how I treat my students.

It's so frustrating that everyone, even his own 'friends', doesn't listen to Mic. And don’t get me started with how he's written in fanon most of the time. This is another thing that I rewrote for my AU. Sunny Day (Mic's counterpart) is based on Fanon!Mic, but I expanded more on her character and have her be more than just a blonde ditz. I gave her the support that Mic never really gets in canon, but she still supports others in turn. Sunny's arc even plays into Shoto's arc in my AU, where she helps him escape Endeavor's grasp.

It's funny because Fanon Dadzawa is actually Canon Mic. He's intelligent, attentive, and actually shows concern for the students. It's sad that he's just support for Aizawa's character, he really has potential as a standalone character.

Bakugo: "I didn't tell Deku to kys until we're in highschool!!!"

Reporter: "I'm sorry what?"

Bakugo: "!!-I mean-!?-I-!!"

Reporter: "Did you say you tell you're 'childhood friend' to 'kys'??"

Bakugo: "That was me and Deku in highschool!! Not my fault he's a useless quirkless!!! I was only a teen!!".
