My 25 years of palaeoart chronology...
A zoom in at the male and female Caudipteryx in my painting, called "The Duet," commissioned by the University of Bristol.
Did you ever share your thoughts on Shoji and his mini arc with Spinner? What were your thoughts on how that was handled when it came to quirk discrimination?
I'm not sure I did, but I think it was really badly done. Hori should never touch a plotline that parallels with complex IRL problems like racial discrimination without much more research and sensitivity.
To say that discrimination will end if the victims keep turning the other cheek and strive to become cool based on the oppressor's standards is just an absurd way to "solve" discrimination.
Also, the ending where Shoji travelled the country and got awards somehow stopped discrimination was laughable. Look at any minority in the world - racial, sexual, disabilities, whatever - having a celebrity can be helpful of course, but will never solve the overall issue without proactive policies that bring real change over time.
(and I liked Shoji and was looking forward to his highlight, but the plotline was way too halfbaked).
So this might be a hot take or it might not be but I 100% believe Bakugo was an entitled kid whose parents probably spoiled the fuck out of him along with everyone else. Or at the very least probably fueled his superiority complex. And the entire reason for the inferiority complex he had is because he knew Izuku was better than him in every way except being quirkless and that's why he was such a shit to him. Hell we see Bakugo's thought process play out during his shittastic "apology" because Izuku tried to help him when he fell into the river he's a better person than Bakugo because he has fucking empathy for everyone and Bakugo couldn't stand that. And it's a large part of why I will never like Bakugo as a character. Fundamentally could he have changed? Yes. But the execution of his change was done so poorly that even Horikoshi admitted in the epilogue that Bakugo is still not a good person. He still treats others poorly and will probably go down in the rankings because of that. He's an entitled shit who never had anyone truly check his behavior and just because he's done a few good things does not outweigh all the bad he's done and continues to do.
offline meetup is mostly just very funny to me but the end bit makes me just the tiniest bit emotional
hes protecting them 🥺
Thank you to everyone who reblogged/replied to the last post, it means a lot to me! I'm still fairly busy but I wanted to get at least one more sketch for you guys, so here's a simple comic for the AU.
For some more context, despite "passing" after only a decade with Muzan, Kokushibo left a very lasting impression on him for the future. As the sole man who nursed Muzan back to health after fighting Yoriichi, as well as giving him exclusive information as an insider in the Corps, drafting strategies to dispose of Demon Slayers (especially Sun Breathing swordsmen), and possible locations to start searching for the blue spider lily, Muzan considers him the epitome of devotion and usefulness in a subordinate.
When Kokushibo reported seeing Yoriichi in a nearby town and then later disappeared that same week, Muzan was very uncomfortable with the feelings of loss and grief. As a result of his denial, he still claims the place of Upper Moon One is occupied for no one else to take, ever. He is confident that Kokushibo will come back eventually. Until then, he uses him as the measure of a good employee for the other moons, which can be frustrating for them.
Anyways, you might notice Upper Two and Upper Three are on slightly better terms. They aren't friends per se but they both started their climb up the ladder fairly close to each other in this story, as well as running missions together, so they hold a neutral stance on each other. As personable as Douma is, Akaza doesn't really interact with his coworkers, so Douma considers himself his one friend. They will occasionally have their spats but they're generally amicable.
I would write more but I think that will do ^^ feel free to ask about anything, I mostly have this AU on the backburner so there's a lot of scripted short events that I can cover, even if they aren't fully connected.
there was entirely too much effort put into this and now all of you have to look at it
