I think one of the main gripes when it comes to Midoriya fan’s, who specifically speaking suffered bullying and/or abusive friendships (I do consider their relationship an abusive friendship due to being childhood friends and Midoriya considering Bakugo as a friend) and actively dislike BKDK, is the lack of portrayal of his feelings particularly negative ones not the positive ones which are emphasized in the manga (To the point where some people think Horikoshi is using Midoriya as a mouthpiece to elevate Bakugo which it doesn’t sit right with a lot of fans especially with the kind of history the two of them have). It doesn’t help the fact that Horikoshi technically has the right ingredients to start addressing this type of bullying/abuse such as having actual friends that look out for him which can give him another reference point and the narrative opportunity (actually, I think it should be extremely esencial for his character because you can’t portray a decade of bullying/abuse, especially physical and verbal, without at least showing consequences and showing him heal from those experiences) to actually question which can help address one of Midoriya’s flaws, specifically hero worship and low self worth. It doesn’t help that his admiration of Bakugo is not contextualized as a coping mechanism (and show the actual consequences such as emotional repression) and it isn’t challenged unlike his admiration for All Might where at least it was partially addressed. Actually, I’d argue that Bakugo’s redemption arc is incomplete because of the lack of elements mentioned earlier which is why you have so many fans thinking that Bakugo’s apology is more closer to gaslighting rather than genuine apology because he never directly addresses the specifics and is far more vague (Most of his peers don’t even know or understand why he’s apologising in the first place which is a missed opportunity when it comes to the rest of the class especially considering that there’s characters with anti bullying stance such as Ashido Mina).
This is a general problem with Horikoshi's writing. He's using RL issues like bullying / domestic abuse / institutional indoctrination / racist discrimination / neurodivergence as "spicy setting" that he manipulates as he pleases but never really takes a moral stance on it.
I feel like he "copied" much of his "themes" from existing comic books, but without fully understanding how those comic books used the superhero setting to make social commentary. That's why he doesn't really land well any of the issues he's raising, because it's just a patchwork of stolen settings without a moral guideline.
Deku's writing is especially problematic, because on top of the above, Horikoshi is so afraid to make Deku unlikeable that he never lets him feel negative emotions or fail at anything really. The saintly portrayal became the biggest flaw that dragged Deku down as a character.
If I’m being I don’t feel the ship of Jasper and Spinel but I like that Jasper is like “Oh you want to be in a relationship with me? Ok then I guess?” like she doesn't care much she just accepts it like whatever personality lol
That is pretty much the vibe I'm going for. I see the very early stage of their relationship being pretty dysfunctional. Let me explain!
Other people with their ships: Romance, thrill, passionate declarations of eternal love. Me with my ships: Dumbasses. Complete hot mess. An entire airport worth of baggage.
Made a new cover for my tianami fanfic, OTHERSIDE! send prayers to Ijichi, pls
Hi,not sure if I ever mentioned this but...not a fan how Monoma acts towards A1. Why? Bc I don't get it.
In my fics I tend to make B1 be seen as the lesser one to justify the animosity Monoma feels.
But canon...B1 is not looked down, I think maybe that is general eds.
"he hates A1 bc of bk" it's a justification I saw and could have worked but he also ...calls Izu arrogant, Izu the boy who clearly thinks he is worthless...is arrogant.
Why Monoma even has a beef with A1 in the first place? Just to be a mouthpiece for BK? Maybe but why take out on the others? Too many questions and no answer since Hori admits he created Monoma thinking on an annoying person he met and he doesn't like Monoma (bold claim here Hori) my point is...I don't think it makes sense Monoma have a issue with the students of A1.
If he was beffing with Aizawa and BK only. Yes, that would make sense.
But the rest? No. And I say this as a person who detest A1 now.
I don't care either way because Monoma is only mildly antagonistic so it isn't a huge deal for me, but I'll attempt to explain some of his behavior:
1A does nothing to call Bakugou out. They allow, and even enable in some cases, his behavior. This even includes Izuku, as (I believe) he even defended Bakugou against something Monoma said once (I can't remember if it was to his face or not)
After the USJ, Bakugou acted like he was better than the other students because he easily beat real villains. This was the rest of the school's first introduction to 1A. So Monoma, incorrectly, assumed that 1A shared Bakugou's behavior. Dumb on his part, but again, 1A didn't really condemn his behavior so they didn't help their cases there either
1A is, rightfully, annoyed with Monoma's behavior, but is fine with Bakugou's. Most of the people who condemn Monoma are Bakugou's friends (Kirishima and Sero mainly). This also replicates his childhood. He was treated differently for his quirk while people like Bakugou were praised. So I can see why he continues to antagonize 1A even if I don't agree with it
It really comes down to 1A as a whole being bystanders and hypocrites, which we know they are. They allow and defend Bakugou's behavior, even though he's been awful to them and other people. I can't blame Monoma for having a distaste for them, even if he does go too far with it.
(Also, it wasn't just Monoma who thought like this. The rest of UA resented 1A too)
Monoma's an asshole, but that's not really a problem for me. Because a) he's called out and condemned for it and b) it's really not that serious. He's not malicious or cruel, he's just an overzealous jerk
The Things he Hates About You.
SFW. Fluff? Angst? Muzan x GN reader.
Muzan hates that you eat foods which churn his stomach; sickeningly sweet or repulsive savory scents which his body rejects. He still sits with you though, his throat closing while you devour the meals he enjoyed in another life. He tries not to remember those years. And yet, his heart squeezes as he tastes the foods' flavor in your kiss, and he's never sure if it's caused by the echo of comfort from his mortal years, or simply the softness of your lips beneath his.
Muzan hates your compulsion to help. That you expend your energy and use your strength to assist others, leaving yourself exhausted. It's pointless; a weakness he wishes he could shake out of you. Instead he simply lies beside you as you sleep and recover, despising that you can't seem to say no to the demands of your human conscience.
Muzan hates that he can see traces of the sun on your skin; dark tones, freckles, sunburn. It reminds him of what he can't have, a freedom he is denied. It's the price he pays for power. He kisses each freckle with desperation, as if he can erase the sun's touch from your skin. You belong with him in darkness, yet he sends you out each day to walk in the light, knowing you'll return after sundown and he can bask in your glow.
Muzan hates the little lines at the corners of your eyes and across your brow; the signs of aging. He can see you decaying before his very eyes and knows there will be a time you go where he refuses to follow. Every second you slip a little farther away from him, despite growing closer as the days go by.
Muzan hates your laugh. He hates that you find amusement in simple things, that happiness comes so easy to you even if it's only fleeting. How can you be happy? You're dying.
Muzan hates that the only solution is to turn you, to transform you into a demon and have you at his side for eternity. But then… you wouldn't be you. Your flaws, your fragility, your tender human heart, they would all be gone. He can't lose that.
Muzan hates that he cares about any of this. He's betrayed by his quickening pulse, his relief and comfort at seeing you, and the intrusive thought that perhaps he should bid farewell to his immortality when you are inevitably taken from him.
And Muzan hates that you know all of this, that he sees the adoration and the apology in your eyes. Your love is devastating, painful, and fleeting, and there's nothing he can do to stop you slipping from his grasp.
today i woke up to Tumblr suggesting to me a blog where proshippers find each other?? and it found me bc they were asking for "the arcana proshippers"
so to get it out of the way, if you're a proshipper or support proshipping block me and know i think it's disgusting and wrong
if you don't know what proshipping is, basically it's thinking that no ship can be wrong or problematic bc it's fiction so no one gets hurt.
Wonder if it's canon or not that the poison was actually for Hakuji but since he wasn't at home that time, Koyuki and Keizo were killed instead.
What was hound dog THINKING?!?!
There is a reason why izuku doesn't trust adults forcing him to trust them doesn't help?!?!.
I can't believe that hound dog is supposed to be the UA counsellor or therapist and it's literally canon that students fear him so what is UA thinking?
Why is UA even considered a good school?
wtf?
You've mentioned that you hc Reigen as ace, can you elaborate?
I agree w/ that but can't sort my thoughts out well enough to make a coherent analysis ;w;
Yeah, that's the vibe he gives me. No concrete "evidence" and I don't care all that much about the sexual orientations of fictional characters, but I guess for me, the headcanon comes down to three things:
1) Reigen is super disinterested in other people being attracted to each other. I feel like there are several small examples of this, but first one that comes to mind is that case with the esper who can astral project and uses it to stalk his neighbor. When they discover this, Reigen has such a non-reaction. I've seen a lot of people bring up these panels
which, yeah, but when they find the culprit, Reigen also doesn't express much of an opinion. It's just "it's a stalker, stalking is bad and illegal, this is a job for the police." No more introspection from him, he immediately moves on, it doesn't interest him. Mob is the one doing all the reacting.
2) Reigen never resorts to flirting despite how he's known for bullshitting his way through anything else to complete a job. Like, no matter how horny Studio Bones is for the guy, they can't change this. He could deliberately capitalize on the fact that a considerable amount of his income comes from massaging middle-aged ladies who find him attractive, but he doesn't. It's accidental. It does not even seem like something Reigen thinks about.
3) Reigen's a self-conscious person, yet doesn't act like it bothers him that he's seemingly never been in a relationship before. He explicitly has a crisis over being lonely in the confession arc, but it's about friends and connections and doing something meaningful with his life. Romantic relationships don't factor into it, even though it easily could, considering it has great thematic relevance for Mob who spends the entire story being in love. Not that you can't fall in love with someone if you're ace, this goes a little bit into aro territory I guess, but either way.. it just gives me that vibe. The indifference. I mean, even in chapter 99 when Mob point-blank asks Reigen for advice about Tsubomi, Reigen first asks Serizawa, then looks it up on his phone, exactly like he would with any other topic he doesn't know jack shit about.
Also, at the end of the scene, he muses about what's important in a relationship, and his conclusions just.. don't sound like he's talking about romance? To me?
I don't know, that entire scene gives me flashbacks to being younger and not yet knowing what asexuality (or aromanticism) is and having to navigate conversations like that without giving away that you fundamentally can't relate to this thing everyone else is so preoccupied with.
Them's my takes, I don't have much else to say about it.
