Watching people react to an actual female antihero has been very 'disappointed but not surprised', like lots of people didn't like Walter White or Tony Soprano but they never asked why they were central charcaters or called them 'unwatchable' (and she's far more sympathetic than those two lol)

Because I GET disliking a character! I wasn’t a fan of Misty when I first started watching yj! She’s my baby now and I’ll defend her with my life but she took some getting used to for me and that’s okay. Even if you don’t really warm up to polarizing characters like Shauna and Misty, it doesn’t mean you’re engaging with the material “incorrectly.” But as you said, acting like they’re utterly unwatchable? Like they’re destroying the moral fabric of (checks notes) the immoral people eating show? Discrediting their huge impact on the show? Really?

I saw this post recently about yj that I really liked and I’ll see if I can track it down to credit after I finish this. Basically it was about how one major problem with the fandom is how skewed some fans’ perception is of what actions within the series are acceptable and what isn’t. Every girl who is a current survivor in the teen timeline has done some vile shit to survive. Even Natalie let Javi drown. Shauna condemning Coach Ben and being, yes, a total dick to Nat this season is not… really the worst thing she’s even done. I’m sure she is about to quote unquote get worse and I’m excited! I want to see all of the Yellowjackets commit increasingly unforgivable acts! That’s what the show is about. It’s about a group of high school girls full of dynamics crawling with envy and resentment and devotion and attraction having to fight tooth and nail to survive in the wilderness where the lines between reality and fantasy blur and polite society fails. It’s not Heartstopper 😭 and Shauna is, just like any wildly popular male antihero like those you mentioned, vicious and willing to do whatever it takes to get what she wants (and again like you said, she’s a lot more sympathetic than those guys thus far). Some people are just uncomfortable seeing that on a woman in ways they simply aren’t when it’s a man. But Shauna is, undeniably, the heart of the show and everything it represents.

My film camera arrived today!

It's a pentax km, and it's first film camera I've owned. Unless you count disposable cameras or my grandpas old one, but like that one has a busted viewfinder meaning mechanically it works, but like you're risking it in terms of what you're shooting ehh. Cause it's really just shooting blind and film is fucking expensive so no way I was risking it. Anyways i'm super hyped, I love analog photography and it's been consuming me. Before my interest was contained to videos i found online because no one I know seems to be interested. But now I can a. Forces them to acknowledge the subject when i bring it up and b. Actually take photos myself, which is so fucking exciting jsut as an idea. Like I can now actually do stuff other then just what shooting would be like theoretically

It’s an archive old stories are still meant to be found and read. Please think about interacting with the fic you read: at least kudos if you read it, a comment would be ideal. My Yellowjackets Theory: Melissa is the 8th survivor, which begs the question, how has no one brought her up until now? Misty has famously kept insane tabs on all the survivors post-rescue, so it’s strange to go two seasons without at least her bringing it up. Now, stick with me. When they were rescued, they had to have had a moment where they got together and decided what they would make public and just how much they were gonna hide (a lot of it). In that moment, they had to have realized that it was gonna follow them forever, they would never escape each other or what they did, and they would never have a normal life. The only way to escape it all, is to die.

So Melissa faked her death.

She could’ve known that those crazy ass girls and what they did would never leave her alone and she would never have a normal life, so she faked her death for a chance at a normal life, and that’s why no one has brought her up at all.

Now with this blonde that they’re teasing is following Shauna, the way they mirrored that scene with the kiss, makes me think that Melissa has finally understood that as long is she is actually alive she will never escape the wilderness or the girls, and now she wants to be the last one left.

I physically cannot wait for the next episode LOL
