controversial opinion maybe, but i think the fact that the spn writers absolutely did not understand queer people or autistic people is precisely what makes dean as a bi man and cas as an autistic man so appealing and interesting. because they literally did not mean to put it in there, it just sorta happened, and isn't that just the way life works? if they'd tried to make cas autistic it would have seemed artificial and would probably have ended up being really bad representation. but the fact that they didn't mean to give cas autistic traits means that dean--as well as other characters, get to love those traits (staring, being literal, infodumping, etc) because they're what makes cas who he is. if they'd tried too hard they would have ended up making it weird. same with dean's queerness, dean ended up being queer on accident, which makes it so believable. imagine if the cw had tried to write a bi man, in 2005. that would have been a shitshow of problematic and unrealistic representation. so i'm not saying that they were right not to try, i'm not excusing queerbaiting or nonexistent canon queer and nd rep, i'm just saying that joke's on them bc by not realising queer and autistic people existed they ended up creating some of the most authentic queer and autistic characters i've personally ever seen on my tv.
Did a spread with some drawings of Buffy being her gorgeous self. I absolutely love that outfit she is wearing on the right, like, I need a dress like that.
hands down one of the best dean traits is just going along with everything charlie says bc she's his friend and he likes her
Finished that WIP and boy do I love how this came out the colors just itch that part of my brain — also ivy is my new celebrity crush lmao.

Thinking about how the plot of season 6 wouldn’t make sense if you do not acknowledge the fact that Cas and Crowley working together was an affair, or at least it felt like so to Dean.
Majority of the people that I heard saying that they disliked that conflict, say that it doesn’t make sense because Dean should’ve understood Cas’ point of view. And that Dean has also worked with demons before, more than once, out of desperation. Which is why he doesn’t have the right to be mad. And I understand that. But it wasn’t about working with demons. No. Not really. The thing that hurt Dean the most about Cas’ choice was how he chose to ask for help from Crowley, instead of him. Cas chose Crowley over him.
“Look me in the eye, and tell me you’re not working with Crowley…”
“You’re in it with him? You and Crowley?? You’re going after purgatory together??? You have, huh? This whole time!”
“No, you had a choice. You just made the wrong one.”
“I was there. Where were you?”
The plot literally doesn’t make sense if you do not acknowledge destiel or crowstiel or deancascrowley. And I think that’s insane, especially for a show from 2005.
raise ur hand if you've heard of destiel

dean always acts like a suave flirter but the second he tries to flirt with cas he’s this stuttering stumbling dork who gets all tongue tied and flustered around cas
I was thinking about how whenever Dean hugs someone he's almost always the one hugging the other and how this links to his psychological trauma of always being the caretaker of people, making himself bigger to protect them.
Because that's how Dean sees himself, as a shield for others, and then I thought about how Cas actually is the shield, and he's HIS SHIELD, specifically, the only one who's really there to protect HIM, which is why it hits so much when we see this:
The way Cas wraps his arms around him, trying to protect him with his whole body--that he'd use as a shield and give up in a second if he could spare him from any pain and save him.
(for context: Dean was about to go use the soul bomb on Amara there, it was a suicide mission)
Bobby is another one that hits, he hugs him as the big hugger because he's his father, he loves him and he's actually here to protect him (and Dean LETS him -barely, but he lets him *and Cas* - in a way that he doesn't let Sam)
I watched a compilation of Sam & Dean hugs to check if i was right about it, but it's almost always Dean the big hugger with Sam, except when he's about to die or Sam sees him alive again after losing him.
Even then, Dean mostly tries to hug Sam as the big hugger anyway, with at least one arm, like a way to comfort him, making him feel protected, like his body language is saying "I'm here, I'm okay, I'm still strong, i can still protect you" (because their real father failed and Dean thinks it's his job).
He rarely lets himself be the little one hugged with Sam, unless he's barely conscious. Which is why it kills me so much more now that in this moment (s14, when Dean was going to lock himself in the Ma'lak box cause he was possessed by Michael) and Sam has a desperate breakdown and punches him (to stop him) he forcefully hugs him as the little hugger, the way Dean always kept him, like a way of saying "I still need you to protect me, please don't do this to yourself".
In the scene below he gives Sam his blessing to do a dangerous (possibly suicidal) mission, and one of his arms is down, but the other one tries to stay up--he's forcing himself to do it and he struggles because he still wants to protect him, but (as the seasons progress) he slowly becomes more prone to let go.
So in this view the hug dynamic becomes an indicator of how Dean sees Sam (and himself) and his protector role, how adult and self sufficient he considers Sam, and how much he lets people around him take care of him, lowering his walls and letting himself be hugged.
This is also why i think hugs from characters like Garth or Charlie are so special, because they're just like us: they see Dean and they just know that he needs to be hugged a lot, and that he's not used to it, so they just go for it-- and it's so normal and kind and spontaneous that Dean's just not used to it-- he doesn't know how to respond (especially with Garth, at the beginning, but as the seasons progress, he learns to, and he even initiates the hug eventually).
I love the hugs where they're 50/50 (one arm up, one arm down both), feels like they're equals, both taking care of each other. I feel like with Sam and Dean, this indicates a healthier dynamic, because Dean lets go a little of the role that was imposed to him and manages to see Sam as the strong individual that he is. But the same applies to 50/50 hugs with other characters, like with Cas, where I feel like it testifies how equals they feel in terms of being fighters, there's a show of respect of each other's strength that transpires by the gesture (which is even more astounding considering that Cas is literally a powerful angel).
And just to end on a destiel note, I'd like to note the possessiveness and protectiveness of Dean (rightfully so) whenever he finds Cas after he thought he had lost him, and how that translates into his body/hug language:
hey guys do you remember dean saying "The movie...with Kurt Russell. I made you watch it." and how that one line confirmed that dean and cas have been having movie nights throughout the course of the show. cas watches dean's favorite movies with him -> cas doesn't remember something from one of the movies -> dean gets pouty -> cas quotes a line from the movie to prove he paid attention -> dean blushes. << real scene in the show Supernatural that you can watch with your eyes on a screen
anyways i could talk forever about sam thinking he gets all the blame for everything from john because he argues with john more, when actually dean’s the one who bears the brunt of the blame for everything because he puts himself in that peacekeeper/caretaker role

you can't convince me dean wasn't already in love with castiel by s11 like. what do you mean on the episode where dean is hung up, nay, borderline desperate to find a way to get castiel back, the case they land just so happens to be handled by a hunter couple (a romantic! mlm! couple!!!!!)
dean dead ass asks them how it's like to settle down with these big green eyes just so full of longing and understanding.
LIKE TELL ME THIS ISN'T HOW DEAN STARES AT CAS !!!!!!!
and this ending, don't even get me started on this ending
THEY GET TO RETIRE!!!! THIS IS DEAN FINALLY SEEING A HAPPY ENDING FOR HUNTERS!!!!! THIS IS DEAN REALIZING AND ACCEPTING THAT IT'S POSSIBLE!!!!!!
they got me in the first half, not gonna lie, with jesse's "they killed my brother" revenge story and cesar's ride-or-die support but then. this sealed the deal.
horses???? hello mr. dean cowboy fetish winchester????? and emt???? when castiel's a whole ass healer mage with his angel mojo???? TELL ME I'M NOT DELUSIONAL
The narrative is giving, "see? this can happen. happiness does exist in this universe, but only from a far enough distance that dean and sam can yearn for it without really getting it."
What they say: Dean is needy
What they mean: Asking Sam or Cas to do anything, ever, is horrible and mean and evil. Dean should be willing to do things for Sam or Cas at a moments notice, but being asked to do anything by the people they love is a horrible burden and should be recognized as such by the person inconveniencing them. Any relationship that inconveniences my fave is bad. But I do expect him to get all of the benefits of a relationship while contributing nothing—not even basic displays of care for another person such as answering the phone or checking in to say “I’m okay.”
Like yeah people can ask too much of you sometimes. However, part of being in a relationship with someone else means being willing to be inconvenienced by them. And some Samgirls and casgirls don't think their fave should ever be inconvenienced, and that anyone in their live (DEAN) asking for anything ever is manipulation and a violation of their autonomy.
Dean was always the protector. Since age of 4. He felt it was his job. His responsibility. He felt the whole world was on his shoulders. And then Cas came into his life and was like: I'll protect you. And I want nothing in return. Because you, Dean Winchester, are my whole world.
one thing I love about s1 loustat is how fundamentally incompatible their needs are. lestat acts out in his relationship because he needs his partner to prove they will never leave him, despite his flaws. louis needs faithfulness because he doesn’t believe that he’s enough for someone after always being made to feel like he was less than others. neither of them is capable of communicating this. in fact, they’re completely unaware of it themselves. still, they’re mad that the other one doesn’t get it, and they’re not above punishing each other for that.
He’s so tired, let him rest
That time during the widower arc when Dean ate pb&j because it reminded him of Cas. No, really. He really did that. He missed Cas THAT MUCH.
make me choose:
@spookylestat (💜) asked Loustat or Spuffy? @gavotteangel asked Frank/Julia or Lestat/Louis?
Love at first bite 🦇
the confession scene being in the dungeon is so fucked and meta because destiel was always supernatural’s Thing We Don’t Talk About™️ and you weren’t supposed to open that can of worms but it’s finally out in the open after 12 long years but it’s NOT because it only exists in that dark and barren dungeon where dean is loved and cas is happy for one fleeting moment because then cas is gone and dean is crying on the dungeon floor and that’s it. he never talks about it. he leaves the dungeon and locks the door behind him. their love forever imprisoned by who the fuck knows and it never sees the light of day.
