dean and cas having an argument about something in the middle of a case and cas warns dean he needs to move and dean stubbornly crosses his arms and glares at cas, muttering, “not fuckin’ happening.” cas moves forward and snags dean by the waist, hoisting dean up in one smooth motion that happens so fast dean doesn’t even see it coming until he’s manhandled and caught up in cas’ arms. dean wants to argue and get defensive, yet all that happens is a soft shaky gasp falls from his lips and his hand wraps around cas’ bicep, and all dean’s mind can do is think ‘oh god oh god oh god, he’s so strong’

My favorite thing is knowing team free will 2.0 live in a warm, cozy and happy home filled with love, laughter and peace. They celebrate birthdays and eat dinners and dean cooks and cas burns the kitchen trying to cook. They take miracle out on walks and sam gets to have a dog again. Jack makes friends and tells them all about his two dads and his uncle sam and aunt eileen. Jack and claire make cas a "best celestial dad" t-shirt and he wears it all the time around the house, including dean's Zeppelin shirts. Dean blushes constantly. They have all the fluff and warmth and love. They make popcorn and watch movies in the dean cave. They invite claire and jody and everyone over at least once a month. Charlie visits for movie marathons and takes dean to fantasy conventions. They live fully and are whole heartedly content, not because they "earned it", but because everyone deserve this. Everyone deserve a home. And finally, they got it.

I think a destiel kiss would have absolutely ruined Dean. Like. Dean thinks he’s this broken, messed up, tortured, walking, breathing curse, and he’s in love with this guy who’s pure grace, literally angelic, and just so fucking good.

Dean’s fully convinced himself he shouldn’t have him. Even if he could—he shouldn’t.

And then Cas comes in, confesses on his death bed while portraying Dean in this holy light he doesn’t deserve and Dean’s heart is going a million beats a second, he’s looking at Cas, into him, over him, memorizing every angle, every breathe of air, and sigh. His throat isn’t working—his feet less so and none of it makes sense. It doesn’t make sense. Dean doesn’t deserve this-this love, this confession, these words—this absolute angel of a man saying them. He doesn’t deserve it.

If Cas had kissed him, I think Dean would’ve found something a lot like religion in it. Cas would taste like home. Like nectar, like forgiveness, like love. And if Dean, who prides on placing himself in front of violence, had tasted what it was like to be loved gently. I think. I think he’d go insane with it. Rip a part the universe insane.

Quite honestly, it would’ve broken the fabric of reality so i guess i understand why the writers decided not to.

Castiel tunes out the conversation the brothers are having on the front seat, going around in circles over and over the plan they have come up with. He looks around the backseat, looking for something to keep himself occupied with for the duration of the trip. Maybe one of Dean's books, or a tape waiting to be rewind and forgotten here. Dean taught how to do it not so long ago and he finds the task calming in its simplicity.

Before he can reach for the comic book he has spotted at the opposite end of the seat something white on the car' s floor catches his attention. It looks like a folded piece of paper, only a corner of it peeking from underneath Dean's seat. He picks it up and unfolds it, sure it's probably just a flyer Dean forgot to throw away, he hates finding those on the impala's windshield, or maybe is a spell he was carrying somewhere and got lost in here. He is sure Dean mentioned something about a piece of paper being misplaced, but he refused to tell Castiel what he actually was looking for.

He unfolds it delicately, the brothers still arguing back and forth,

It says, written in Dean's familiar handwriting. Castiel keeps reading, there is a list of movies, some titles he is familiar with, others not so much, he is almost sad at the little amount of movies that have been crossed out, indicating they have watched them already. He would do all in his power to stay, to be around more at least, if things weren't as messy as they always are when it comes to their lives.

Even with the wave of sadness that floods him he smiles, it seems those movie nights Dean came up with are as important and dear to him as they are to Castiel himself.

"What are you smiling about back there, huh?" Dean gives him a suspicious look through the rearview mirror.

"Eyes on the road, Dean." Sam scolds, as Castiel replies "I just saw one of those pictures of cats on the internet."

As poorly versed as he still is on the way humans behave around others even him can tell Dean wouldn't appreciate this particular list coming up in front of his brother.

He waits instead, until Sam asks for them to make a stop so he can go to the bathroom, and he gives it back, folded as neatly as he found it, passing it over the back of the front seat for Dean to take it with a "I think I found that piece of paper you were looking for, Dean."

Dean mutters a quick "thanks", taking the paper from him and putting it away without looking back at Castiel, the back of his neck turning a light shade of red.

Castiel reaches inside his inner pocket, feeling a familiar weight there. Despite his coat being different to the one he was wearing when Lucifer killed him its contents seem to be the same. His fingers make contact with the hard surface of the tape he always carried in his pocket since Dean gave it to him. But there is something else there, something he doesn't remember having with him when he died, he fishes out the piece of paper. It's neatly folded, he unfolds it slowly, wondering who put it there and why

ever since I watched 'lily sunder has some regrets' again I haven't been able to stop thinking about the angel magic she was using to gain powers and stay alive. so I've been thinking, what if after they defeat Chuck, Dean becomes obsessed w learning more about angels in general in hopes to find something that would help him bring Cas back and in the moment of desperation he remembers about Lily. So he tracks down the manuscripts she's been using and once he is confident he's fluent in enochian, casts the spell. And like magic, Cas is there standing in front of him, in flesh, and he is saying something but Dean cannot hear him. First he thinks it's because he is overwhelmed by seeing Cas back but when he says Cas' name out loud but cannot hear his own voice either, he understands that he's hearing is gone. Just like with Lily, he knew using magic came at a cost and he'd be burning off his soul. So he just reaches out and pulls Cas into a tight hug and prays to him 'I missed you' and 'You can have me' and 'I love you, Castiel'

When days later he manages to signs 'beer' perfectly an gets a thumbs up from Eileen, a beer from Sam, and a kiss from Cas, he once again thinks that he made the right choice. (and maybe Cas can't heal his hearing but he can hear his prayers and turns out can speak inside Dean's mind, which, interestingly makes the sex better than any other sex Dean has had. Or maybe that's just because he is in love with Cas)

I love jack so so much he's perfect but tbh I do think it would've worked much more with the show if he was a destiel baby instead of lucifer's. and I'm not just saying that as a shipper or whatever I mean narratively it would've been a lot cleaner- and actually, I think it would've been super funny to no-homo them creating a baby together, like, literally all they would have to do is say "oh, when cas rebuilt dean after hell he accidentally left some grace tangled in his soul, and every time he's healed him since then it's been growing stronger until a nephilim was born". like yes the studio is homophibic etc etc but all the jokes they'd make about dean being spiritually pregnant would be very funny for me personally.

but ANYWAY, jack's story gets messy and convoluted and I think this would've been like...a simple fix. them worrying about him going dark side could be because they're worried how demon!dean and lucifer!cas affected him in development, the show LOVES bloodline drama, chuck's wanting abraham and issac 2.0 would've worked better this way, dean's storyline with him would be improved, bc rather than 'oh no I slowly but surely emotionally adopted the antichrist' like I think he would've had an easier time clocking his john-behavoir if it wasn't a question whether he was jack's dad or not. plus last time dean actively raised a kid he went to great lengths to keep the supernatural away from him, so it'd be interesting to see how he handles a kid he CANT possibly hide from this part of his life. it would make more sense why michael wanted jack as a vessel- yes obviously he wanted the nephilim power boost but also having him as part of the winchester bloodline, making him a PERFECT vessel he doesn't have to worry about burning up would add a lot. we could also use this argument for why lucifer is so interested in him if anyone actually liked that plotline in season 14 lmao. we know chuck hated cas and dean's relationship, could you imagine if he checked in and found out they made an unauthorized baby together💀 like that really would've given better context for why he hates jack so much. cas wouldn't need that whole weird brainwashing arc to wanna protect unborn jack, PLUS it could've been an interesting source of angst for him- he feels like he's failed once again, creating an abomination and putting dean in danger, but also still loves jack immensely. it'd be so good! also imagine how fucking stressed out heaven would be to find out a mini castiel is on the way. they wouldn't even wanna exploit that kid for power they'd be preemptively treating the headaches they know they're gonna get lmfao.

also. the casting directors literally put jensen and misha into a face morph app and cast the first actor they could find that matched the results. which would've made more sense if,,,,he was just Theirs. the comedy of dean and cas making a baby before either of them managed to admit their feelings to each other would be more fun then the "dude adopted a kid and pawns him off on his unwilling roommate's all the time and they eventually warm up to the kid" storyline we actually got. we also could've replaced some of the jack-dean angst from the show with "dean wants to connect more with jack but he feels shut out whenever cas is around bc he can't relate to any angel stuff so obviously jack's going to cas for help more!", which I think would be interesting!! how AWFUL dean and cas would feel that jack didn't feel safe enough to be a baby. dad!sam is still in full swing but he cares for jack right off the bat instead of trying to use him for his powers at first. lily sunder talking about how cas killed her kid bc he thought it was a nephilim and dean, who's already fully aware he's (spiritually) knocked up by cas is like 👹 inch resting cas-tee-elle tell me more. mary having a 'my baby has a baby' crisis. cas insisting jack looks nothing like him is a running joke but then at some point he explains its bc jack's 'true form' looks just like dean's soul....

ALSO- in a show where, canonically, the very first act of free will was cas falling in love with dean...the physical manifestation of that defeating chuck and taking his place as god? come ON.
