As He Tian steps onto the campus he suddenly feels very, very small. It’s nothing like his high school back home, it looks more like a college.
“You could probably fit 30 of my schools in this one..” He mutters to himself as he tries to find his own class room. The paper with the map of the campus and all the classroom numbers that they had given him would probably help him a lot if he was able to speak or read any Chines other than “please and thank you”, “yes and no”, and “where’s the bathroom?” He now found himself wishing he would have taken that only line class about Chines that He Cheng had bathered him so much about.
He Tian would consider himself some type of smooth talker in Englsih, but trying it in Chines threw him completely off his game. He just hoped he didn’t meet any pretty girls here. But father wanted him to “be cultured”, and what father wants he usually gets with no questions asked. Somewhere in the pit of his stomach, He Tian was happy to be away from that family. All the fight and secrecy was getting to be too much and wasn’t worth. The only one he’d really miss was his brother but he could call him whenever he wanted.
BaM! “嘿!”
He hadn’t been paying attention and had run smack into some other student. Suddenly all of He Tians papers were on the floor and so were the other kid’s. “Great He Tian. Great job.” He thought to himself.
“I’m sorry! I didn’t- I should’ve been watching-“
“什么? Oh you don’t speak Chinese do you?” The boy says in almost perfect English (which dazes He Tian for a bit).
“No..”
The blond boy laughs a little and helps him gather his disarray of papers and binders. He’s wearing the schools uniform, a blue collar shirt with khakis and some old sneakers. Apparently shoes aren’t a part of the uniform because his are in awful condition... the edges are all worn out and for a second He Tian swore he could see a pink sock poking out of the toe of the shoe. In fact, the closer He Tian looks the boy seems to get dirtier. His khakis look to have stains on them that he can only hope is ketchup and mayo, his hair is greasy and unkept, and his shirt is untucked in certain parts and crumpled into his pants in others.
“I’m Jian Yi. And you?” Jian Yi says with a smile as he now turns his attention to his own fallen papers.
“He Tian.”
“So what class are you going to?”
“Honestly? I have no idea.”

So I did it! Probably gonna continue this. I really like it. Hopefully it’s not too bad XD I’ll get better though.
Ok so I had this thought and maybe I’m on to something, maybe I’m not.
So remember this panel:
Mo calls out for his dad during what seems to be the destruction of their restaurant and maybe the attemptted kidnapping of baby Mo? (Or just someone trying to hurt him I dunno) either way. Mo calls out for is dad and immediately his dad comes and Randy Ortons this guy through a table to save Mo. Little Mo had that sense of physical security with his father.
With his mother he still had that sense of security but it was mostly like emotional:
Especially in that one panel with baby She Li (I would find it but I’m too lazy) where she’s trying to calm Mo down and telling him it will stop hurting soon. I think as a kid Mo felt physically protected by his mother but eventually when he started to grow he realized that he had to protect his mom. So he was never really able to have that sense of security (thus he got so callous and distant from everyone). I think Mo just thought that he was on his own but deep down he was probably still scared out of his mind.
So when he met She Li he was like “hey you’re a good source of protection because you have so many people who look out for each other.” Naively, Mo probably would have joined the gang for that purpose, to be safe. And maybe somewhere along the line She Li did actually save him from someone trying to hurt/take him again (not because he actually cared but because he wanted something from Mo). And maybe that’s why he joined, I’m not sure. But this would explain why She Li is always has that “I’m the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition” vibe going on:
BBBBUUUUTTTTT then Mo met He Tian. And at first he tian was a jerk and just another person trying to take advantage of Mo (like with the whole kiss thing with the water bottle). But then the relationship started to evolve. I think when He Tian actually did physically protect Mo is when the scales in Mo’s mind started tipping.
Now Mo actually has friends and He Tian to protect him. He finally found what he wanted all along. That group of people who are looking out for each other.
ANNYYWWAAAYYYYYYY if you’ve read this far thanks for listening to my horribly long rant!

I have mixed emotions about this. Like yay a possible new chapter that came really soon! But also low key flash backs to when Old Xian was in the hospital from over working themself. I just hope that they are going at their own pace and not feeling pressured to put out more chapters •~• please please please stay healthy!!!

If I can finish it,then I will update tomorrow.
@guanshanbabyfox
I’m sorry but why does it look like Mo is peeing in this panel? Like….

Mo gets really bratty/snippy with He Tian (more than usual) if he doesn’t get enough attention
(This may or may not turn into a fic.... May or may not be nsfw....)

Bike rides and late nights
More late night aesthetic! Just black and good this time not lavender. I guess this is me wanting a tattoo?
Color is difficult sometimes
Not Mo kicking this guy in the nuts. Like look at the angle of his knee and foot in comparison to how the guys legs are positioned. That foot has been express mailed to the crotch
