gabriela didn't want to worry her daughter, not until being sure there was actually something wrong. it was entirely possible, this weird feeling in her gut, didn't mean that something bad was going to happen. maybe it was just the symptom of her children leaving the nest. "i promise if there is anything to worry about, you will always know, but right now i think it's just not sleeping well." tyler was coming home tonight and he always helped her sleep more soundly. having him close in the night helped with the night terrors, that came from her past. "your dad will be home tonight so let's also get him something sweet."

linking arms with her daughter, the two began walking through the market. with summer approaching colorful fruits and veggies were in season. "what are you thinking for dinner? i could make burgers and hand-cut fries or we could do pasta. i only have a few more things on the shopping list for the b&b, the rest is all for us."

The younger Lockwood nodded as she smiled at the thought of her favorite pastry stall being at the market today. She did, after all, have a very sweet tooth. She enjoyed spending quality time with her mother, especially shopping, as she knew she would always get something out of it.

"If you're sure you're okay," Maddison replied, concern washing over her face as she hoped her mother would be alright. She didn't want her to overexert herself."Sure, I'll stay and help," Maddison said with a smile on her face. "I can't turn down that offer." She was excited at the prospect of spending more time with her mother, and the opportunity to indulge in some of her favorite treats.

Maddison followed alongside her mother, her steps light and her mood cheerful. She couldn't wait to see what the market had in store for them today, and she knew that whatever it was, she would be happy to be there with her mother by her side.

eleanor wasn't sure where to go tonight, with nikolas remaining at arms length and her family so caught up in her return, it felt as if nothing was right. sure being back from the dead wasn't right or normal either, but to be treated like such a fragile piece of art, well it made the young woman anxious. the feeling never left her, it seemed once she crawled out of the grave, she was destined to feel out of place in the world. possibly because she didn't belong here anymore. none of it made sense, so she made her way to the outside area of the venue and took in a the fresh air. only coming back to reality when a voice filled the silence.

tilting her head to the other, she opened her eyes and furrowed her brows. trying to think what answer would be best. bolting felt like the best option. yet, her feet stayed planted on the ground. "honestly, i can't answer that. i want to leave this ball so badly. get away from everyone and just be, but i don't want to worry people anymore."

the redhead was still on edge after drinking from his father , damon . the limitation of blood was starting to get to him . he didn't want to feed on anyone else because he didn't want to hurt them , but that didn't changed the fact that his craving for the taste often danced on his tongue . however, andrew knew that his father would give him another hit before the night was done so he decided to think about something else for a change . gabi smirked at the other, taking a sip of her drink before answering the question. "i'm not sure, a masquerade while there is a serial killer on the loose, it doesn't seem like the best idea." it felt silly to say that, knowing full well that she got dressed up to come here, just like anyone else, sure her motives were different but she was still partaking in the system that set this all up. letting out a deep sigh, she looked to cameron with a soft smile. "i'm more here for intel. free food and drinks just happen to be a plus."

events  like  this  were  something  cameron  wasn't  a  fan  of  but  it  was  apart  of  living  in  new  orleans.  it  gave  her  the  chance  to  watch  those  around  them  ,  work  out  who  would  be  the  best  person  for  cameron  to  interact  with.  power  hungry  ,  that  was  them  and  it  always  had  been.  gabrielle  caught  their  attention.  “what  do  you  think  of  the  evening  so  far?”  the  hybrid  asked  ,  grabbing  another  champagne  flute.

Rebekah kept Hope safe for months. She’s my friend, and she’s Hope’s family. I’m not gonna look my daughter in the eye one day and explain to her that I sat back and did nothing while those people just kidnapped her aunt.

josie's head had been in the clouds all week, her brain formulated plan after plan on how to find the mystery woman from the masquerade. still nothing of use actually came to mind, there was no way to track her by magic, because she had nothing that belonged to the other. it was beginning to feel hopeless, but she managed to press on. lizzie was alive and hope was the happiest she's ever been, sure it annoyed the siphoner. watching as people seemed to go back to normal, something she couldn't manage to do.

her facial expression must've matched each thought that passed, because a voice broke her out of her internal convo. raising an eyebrow she gave the other a soft smile. "oh i'm fine, i always forget that my face gives everything away." the only person to remind her those things, wasn't able to communicate that, not until now.

gabriela knew the rosza family well, josh was a huge help in the transition of soul bringer to something calmer. with that, she was able to meet blossom and since her father helped so much, it felt like duty to do the same for his children. so gabi knew not to press the girl any further, shrugging their shoulders they leaned against the tree with a light sigh. "i won't lie something is going on, but i can't place my finger on it just yet."

taking a pause, the demon pushed through the nervousness and simply asked the question. "have you had any nightmares recently?"

“it’s fine.” blossom commented with a small shrug of her shoulders. eyes moving from the other to her sketch pad, hand continuously drawing at a rapid pace. drawing, it was one way she found could help clear her mind, especially with the uneasiness she had been feeling. it sometimes helped either clear her mind fully or put everything into perspective.

“I’ve been..” a pause for a moment, another shrug of her shoulders. “y’know the usual.” it was the best she could come up with. “what about you? how’s everything going?”

she was hyper aware of everything, the way her clothing itched against her skin, something it hadn't done earlier. goosebumps rose on her arms as a calming voice took blanketed the worry. that voice, josie knew it from somewhere. with wide eyes the siphoner looked to see who was speaking, her brows furrowing as their gazes met. confusion and excitement ran through her veins, her heart beating faster from the whole ordeal. getting out of the car, josie looked at the other and smiled. "you umm, your voice it's familiar."

"have we met before?" there was no time for playing it cool, because all her thoughts and feelings swirled together. later josie would for sure kick herself for not acting mysterious. it felt like she knew this person before her and she couldn't shake that off.

clearly benni's self-preservation skills were severely lacking. being attacked twice since the masquerade should have sent the human packing back to florida tail between her legs. instead, they'd texted their aunt, hoping her arrival would be soon. benni couldn't leave. plus, one of her attackers had been very human, that could have happened to her anywhere. new orleans was too full of things begging to be uncovered, whether it was for work or the personal pleasure of solving every mystery that crossed her path.

then there was the woman who'd fully captured their attention at the masquerade. the woman who, through everything benni had been through in the past few days, had never left her brain. a mystery that brought a spike of excitement rather than fear. benni promised herself that she wouldn't leave the house past dark, if being cinderella saved her life, so be it. that meant she needed to spend as much time outside in the light as she could. finding themself at the stables wasn't expected, but was interesting none the less.

after getting out of her car, benni's gaze shifted to the car across from her. from what features she could make out, there was a sense of familiarity that flashed through her. ever the curious, benni was going to find out why and how. " excuse me, " they called out for the other to hopefully hear and either roll down the window, or step out so she could get a better look.

deep down she knew that there was no need for promises, when it came to talking about hard feelings with tyler. the two of them had to have many conversations most couples don't need, such as hey i'm a demon and oh i turn into a wolf when the moon is just right. so yeah, there was no need to promise clothes would be off at some point, but she liked to think it kept everything fun. there was a type of joy gabriela couldn't put into words, when getting their husband to smile a certain way, after some comment made out neediness. all she could do was smirk, refusing to give any spoilers.

the two of them worked really hard to get here, years of emotions and situations that felt so out of control, but each time they found solace in each other. she'd fight for that all her life and make sure that her children knew, that type of love is what they also deserved. watching as her words soothed him made gabi's shoulders loosen, happy to hear him audibly breathe knowing how talking about his father made him often stop. "no need to thank me, i'm always here to remind you of the person i see." rubbing her thumbs on his cheeks softly, she tilted her head with a sweet smile. "i'm really glad you are home." she admitted, getting lost in the way his gazed met hers. it was difficult when they were apart, she'd sleep but never quite well and always slightly more tense than they'd hope. "it's so important that you were there for that kid and i'm glad that you get to be here for ours." she kissed him softly, lingering for a moment because it felt nice to hold him close. gabriela would sleep great tonight, even if there was a nightmare, the one person that could tame them would be right be her side.

" he flirted back with the brunet when she told him that he wouldn't regret it , if he told her everything . tyler didn't need an incentive to confide in his wife but the incentive didn't hurt . as much as tyler loved his kids he was happy to hear that the house only had the two of them in it . this meant that they didn't have to keep anything p.g.

his father was a sore subject for the lockwood male but with gabriela regardless of how hard it was to talk about his feeling ;; he had found it easy with her . she was a good listener , and there wasn't anyone else in the world he wanted to share those parts of himself with . her touch brought him comfort and relief . tyler listened as gabriela spoke . she had the ability to bring clarity to his sea of thoughts . he knew that she was right and her words had meant the world to him . that's all he had ever wanted ;; all he wanted was to be a good father and a good husband . her kiss on his forehead helped settle his emotions and her reassures made him sigh in relief . it was important to tyler to know that she had so much faith in him , and it gave him strength . tyler didn't know everything but all he knew was that he needed her . " thank you . " he breathed with gratitude . his hazelnut hues gazed over his wife's beautiful brown ones . " i can't tell you how much it means for me to hear you say that ." he confessed . "i knew it." she smirked, before pulling into the closest spot and parking. getting out, she smiled before giving elena a quick hug. "i can always count on you to be an accomplice." pulling back, gabriela realized that she hadn't stopped for coffee. "i'm just now realizing that i barely drank any today so that means machine coffee." shrugging their shoulders, they began the walk into the hospital, questions spun around gabi's head, unsure of which one to ask the other first.

"i don't think this is the dead getting revenge, i mean a bunch of dead people coming back, that must've been confusing for them, right?" they finally spat out. thankfully, elena was used to the demon's scattered brain. "it seems planned." she admitted before turning to the other. "what are your thoughts?" if there was anyone else gabi trusted in these moments, it was elena and caroline. all of them bonded by making sure that their children were able to just grow up.

After The Faction meeting, Elena drove over the charity hospital immediately. Even though she wasn't working a shift, she was certain she could get access to the bodies, or at least speak with the person performing the autopsies in order to learn more about how they died.

As she stepped out of her car, coffee cup in hand, she spotted Gabi across the parking lot. The two had become fast friends on one of Elena's previous visits, and she was thankful to have another friend now that she lived in town. Especially another friend that would also commit violent crimes for her children.

"If someone was injured, I definitely wouldn't have stopped for coffee," she said, attempting to make light of the situation. "I know the guy who works in the morgue, I think he'll let us take a look, if that's what you're after."
