josie wiped the tears falling onto hope's cheek with her finger, doing her very best to be gentle and caring. the two of them didn't even really need to say anything, all of it had been said once they looked in each others eyes, but it still felt good to say it. for the siphoner, it felt as if the apology was long required, she'd write hope notes all the time only to burn them with the flick of her wrist. shaking her head slowly, she rested her palm on her sisters cheek and smiled. "me neither....what's worse is she isn't here in my head anymore and i can't seem to figure out why. she used to be there in the back of mind, but for the past few weeks, i can't feel her anymore."
taking a deep breath, she placed both hands on her lap. wanting to mention that even though lizzie wasn't in her mind, she was still felt. yet, there was a fear that mentioning it would send them on some mission only for the same outcome. so instead, she kept it to herself, waiting until she had proof. "did your mom come visit you in europe after i left? i'd hate to hear that you were alone..."
she'd toss and turn about it for months, unable to pick up the phone and call in fear of hearing the sorrow in the others voice. josie felt like a coward as she sat next to hope, it made her skin burn.
THE TRIBID HELD ON to her sister for dear life, pressing the siphoner to her as she felt her self exhale. being without josie for all of this time had proven to be ONE of the most heartbreaking things that had happened in her life time, the distance between them had been like losing a part of her soul and with such a large part of it gone already ( it had been buried with lizzie ) she hadn't been sure that she could make it through. the phrase ' there is always light at the end of a tunnel ' had begun to sound so incredibly cliche to her, that any mention of ' hope ' outside of her name felt like a SICK joke. and maybe she was too young to be so pessimistic but what else could she be? she had failed at keeping her PROMISE. and not just to josie, but lizzie too. failure did not settle well ⸺ call it a fallacy of being young, but maybe she'd bought into her own hype if only for a moment that staggeringly annoying confidence that ran in her family, had taken the limelight only to become extinguished just as fast as it was lit. she was EMBARRASED, and ashamed all reasons that stopped her from seeking josie out sooner. " there's nothing to forgive. " she assured the other, as she pulled back, hands placed on both of her arms, as she feared that the brunette would disappear as soon as she let go. " i shouldn't have... " a pause, tears formed in ocean colored eyes, and for once hope allowed them to fall. " i shouldn't have PROMISED what i couldn't keep. " she shook her head. " i'm so, sorry jo... " the disappointment in her tone was more than present, in fact it could be seen reflected in her the way she held herself. " i just can't... get used to a WORLD where she isn't here. "
gabriela didn't let go of mariana, keeping the girl in a tight embrace as tears rolled down the demons cheeks. all of the information was flooding her senses and none of it made her feel any better. for kaya to fix an injury like that, well that meant that she used her demonic powers, something that gabi understood, but felt as if something special had been snatched right out of her hands. raymis wasn't family and yet here he was making decisions as if he was always at the head of the table, typical. their fingers ran through their daughters hair softly, wanting to only provide comfort and nothing more. there would time for the difficult emotions, but right now all she felt was love. "i don't know what i would've done had he hurt you anymore than he already has. i'm so sorry, i didn't ever think he could come back but i should've at least had a back up plan."
If there was someone Marina missed dearly, it was her parents, especially her mother. Although she loved both her parents, she always felt a stronger connection to her mother. When Marina finally calmed down and realized it was her mother, she quickly embraced her in a tight hug. "It's okay, Momma," Marina reassured her mother, nodding as she listened to her speak. "I was scared, but I'm okay now. Kaya and Dad found me," she continued, her voice tinged with relief. "My leg is much better now; Kaya fixed me," Marina added excitedly, eager to share the news with her mother. As she held onto her mother, a sense of safety washed over her, and she whispered, "Don't let me go, Momma," holding onto the older woman tightly.

getting ready with her twin put the siphoner in a cheery mood, thanks to the mask she wouldn't need to explain, how the once sad josie was now all smiles. for three years, people would often describe her as a girl with a frown. her mouth always turned the wrong way. tonight, would be different, she'd allow herself to take in the excitement of elegance and music. after savoring a cosmopolitan, she made her way onto the dance floor. doing her best to take in the way it felt to actually let happiness in.
getting a little too lost in the sounds, she managed to bump into someone else. taking a step back, she tilted her head with a soft smile. "sorry, i forgot where i was for a moment."
her body seemed to collapse, but never hit the ground thanks to caroline's abilities, of being both a concerned mother and vampire. the question ran through her head and eleanor wanted to answer it. she saw someone before becoming conscious but had no idea who it could be. "i saw someone, and they said something to me but i can't remember what." there was no telling how long it took to walk from the cemetery to here, but from the way her feet and legs felt it must've been a few hours. "i dug out of my own grave, so the world is spinning."
at first she thought she was hallucinating. that it was maybe some trick of the light or something because what her eyes were seeing did not seem possible. you'd think nothing would surprise her considering the path her life has taken. how many impossible things had happened to her ? but here stood someone that she knew died. someone her son had lost, someone that would have become her daughter in law. "oh my god, ellie, " shock evident in her voice. an arm quickly wrapping around the other in hopes to comfort her. " we'll figure it out, honey. " did she have a clue ? absolutely not. but she wasn't about to let eleanor wonder around confused and alone. " what's the last thing you remember ? "

dark magic could be felt all around the city, causing the siphoner to feel as if an icy chill wrapped around her body. it had been a long day at work, josie constantly getting off track far too often, unable to get any work done. normally, she loved her job but it just felt off. all she wanted was to go home and sleep. maybe even wake up and have this day completely washed away from her system.
making her way out of her office, a stack of papers held tightly to her chest as she twirled out in a rush. josie wasn't looking and ended up running right into someone else, papers flying everywhere while a groan escaped her lips. "oh just great!" getting on the ground, she began the process of picking everything up that needed to be filed before leaving.

after news of the murders hit, the first place gabriela knew to go was charity hospital. that's where the bodies would be taken to first thing and the demon needed to get a closer look. over the years, they'd done charity work for the hospital, helping to make their infrastructure better with the environment in mind. because of this, she had an in and was going to use it, anything to make sure her family was protected.
pulling into the lot, gabi noticed elena getting out of her own car, with a raised brow she lowered her window. "please tell me we are here for the same reason and no one is injured in there." the two became close friends over the years, sharing a bond over how protective they could be of ones they loved.
gabriela was used to tyler leaving during the full moon, knowing that when he got back, the two would spend hours talking and holding each other close. not every trip caused him to come home with old emotions stirred up, but it appeared this one had. she could hear it in his voice on their first call, but waited to question him until they were able to speak face to face. the bayou had become their safe place, free from all the pain and judgement the world had brought them years before. seeing him there against the countertop, it caused her whole body to instantly soften. gliding over towards him gabi placed a hand on his face, taking in the way he felt against her palm. a smile growing on her lips once he spoke. "i don't mind being so co-dependent when it comes to you." she smirked before placing a soft kiss on his forehead.
standing in front of him, gabriela's arms snaked around his waist before tilting her head. eyes tracing his features, as if he had been gone for years. "i missed you too. how about i make us a drink and we debrief?"

tyler was happy to be back home . he had gone out of town for three days to help his friend's son learn how to transform into a werewolf safely , for the first time . this had brought back memories of the first time tyler had turned . he remembered having to remove all his clothes until he was completely naked before folding his clothes neatly to the side . he recalled putting the cold metal shackles on his wrists and ankles , which followed the endless waiting before every bone in his body broke over and over again , and last he remembered the fear of what would happened if the chain broke . however in the bayou where they lived things were different . there was no chains need amongst werewolf . tyler leaned on the kitchen countertop as he saw gabriela walk in . they had of course talked over the phone in his absence but to feel her hand move slowly over his face felt so needed . eyes closed as he felt a wave of peace and comfort rush through him . " god i missed this . . i missed you . " he confessed .
Being back here makes me hot in the face Hot blood in my pulsing veins Heavy memories weighing on my brain Hot and heavy in the basement of your parents' place You used to be so sweet Now you're a firecracker on a crowded street Couldn't look away even if I wanted Try to walk away but I come back to the start

GIRLS (2012 - 2017)
losing your soul wasn't as insane a thought for gabriela, she had done it in a heartbeat after he sister overdosed. so if anyone was not going to make elena feel bad about the trade, it was her demon best friend. yet, it was always shocking to see a person without their soul. especially for someone like elena gilbert, the woman had been a shining example of a mother and friend for gabi, as she got used to having a soul and a family. the demon had already gotten in contact with vincent griffith, hoping that he still held the spell that helped gabi and tyler get her soul back from arcadius. their eyes followed as elena let loose and appeared to be having genuine fun. a small smile grew on their lips as they walked to approach the other, hoping that whatever had lightened the mood would help with the encounter.
"elena, hey!" their smile turned to confusion as their friend simply starred, as if every word that came out of gabi's mouth was utter gibberish. scanning her friends face, it became very apparent what was happening, seeing her kids coming home with the same look in their teens. shaking her head, the demon placed a hand on the others shoulder. "i was just saying hi, sorry i haven't come by recently with the kids and tyler...it's just been a lot."

After much encouragement from her niece, Elena Gilbert made her way across the street to the lighting of the solstice. The bonfire raged large and hot and friendly faces mingled about. Anyone who hadn't heard the news of her missing soul was likely expecting the typically bright and bubbly human. However, both those who had heard the news and those who hadn't would be sorely disappointed in the woman who arrived at the event.
Along with her encouragement, the Gilbert niece had also provided one very chocolately brownie with the good stuff, as she'd called it. She'd failed to mention, however, that the good stuff was also the powerful stuff.
Which was why legendary Elena Gilbert had come out to play. Her body felt loose, and she wanted to dance, despite being far away from where the music was actually happening. With a red solo cup in one hand and her phone in the other, she felt like a teen hanging out by the falls all over again.
When the person in front of her said something that she didn't catch, the soulless human blinked rapidly. "I'm so sorry," she said. "Were you talking to me?" How long had they been there? She'd just been enjoying the different colors of the raging bonfire, lost in the tornado of thoughts that was her brain. And if she blinked, which again, she'd just done rapidly, it felt like watching television and skipping a few frames. But she blinked again in attempt to compose herself, and put on a smile before taking a sip of the drink she definitely remembered pouring for herself.
remembering the conversation with damon, made josie quickly agree to kaya's request to dance. nodding her head, she held onto the others hands and began to follow the rythm of her body. the song wasn't exactly that fun, but having had a few drinks, it felt as if the music was something she'd choose. "i'd love that!" josie replied, focusing on the other as they danced. "i heard you and hope got ready together. you both look beautiful." it was so easy to throw out compliments, when your other half was back. when nothing felt as if it was missing, josie realized that she had longed for other types of relationships. friends instead of just family or the small hellos to co-workers.
Kaya, fresh off a few shots from the bar, danced by herself to the slow, kind of boring music that floated through the air. She barely even noticed when Josie bumped into her, and she probably wouldn't have even said anything at all, just kept going about her swaying and enjoying of the music.
Instead, she grasped both of Josie's hands in hers. The two weren't exactly close, but Kaya had spent enough time around Hope that they'd hung out a few times here and there. The alcohol, however, made everyone in the room Kaya's best friend. "Do you want to dance?" she asked, cheerfully, holding both the girls hands and looking at her with a wide smile. "I mean, I know we were both already dancing, but do you want to dance, like, together?"
