yeeeeee
grief stays stuck for the time it dictates, it controls you. Of course Jason wouldn't forgive Bruce so easily. Even when he did forgive him, he continued not to acknowledge it, act as if it wasn't a big deal he was getting close again, more open to hear another version.
I think it's sweet how he tries to fight it, but we all know that kid in the robin suit loved his dad, and he never stopped, through death and all.
sometimes i think jason’s anger gets too oversimplified as just anger and so rarely do i see it acknowledged that it is absolutely also grief, just not in the "standard" way
on top of that jason would’ve been mad at bruce no matter what he did. because grief is illogical in the things it makes us think and feel. i’ve loved pretty much every batfam fic i’ve ever read but sometimes i feel like we write jason as too easily swayed by being told about batman’s downward spiral after his death. because explain all you want, grief is stubborn and grief is not something you can just… convince away.
is this me being a fucking nerd about psychology and wanting to see more jason content that actually explores the fact that anger is only one component of his grief? maybe. none of your business go away im at a restaurant >:(
Who - in your opinion - is the superior bat?
Cassandra Cain
Nightwing Dick, who was sent back in time: *doesn’t have a cape*
Robin Dick: Why doesn’t he have to wear a cape?
Batman: You know that the cape is to help you learn stealth
Nightwing: Hey kid, imma let you in on a secret
Nightwing: The bright yellow cape is just so he doesn’t lose you in crowds
Robin, softly: I knew it
the sillies
Jason: Gothamites are the most masochistic group of people on the face of the earth.
Tim: Gothamians
Jason:
Jason: what
Tim: Gothamians.
Jason: The fuck are you saying? Gothamites.
Tim: Gothamians.
Jason: Stop it. You’re wrong. Gothamites.
Tim: Gothamians
Jason: Do I need to go into the whole etymology of the fucking word, you little goober? It’s Gothamites. No one in history has ever said Gothamians. Shut up.
Tim:
Jason:
Tim: Gothamians
—
Bruce: Where’s Tim?
Jason: don’t worry about it
Bruce: …Now I’m worried about it. Where is he?
Dick, running into the room, distressed: Bruce, Tim has a dictionary glued to his head—
people used to have media literacy, now you find lolita on the booktok romance section on libraries
You wrote about murder?? Murder is illegal?? You wrote about this dude killing someone and you didn’t even say ‘murder is bad’ at the start of the book, wht wtf, wtf is wrong with you? I can’t believe you condone murder, I can’t believe you’re pro murber, oh my fucking God don'ttalk to me when ou literally kill people, freak. I’m calling the cops, what the fuck, I’m shaking and crying.
I think a lot abt how ram wrote talia talking about how she was going to help bruce get back to himself. such an important part of brutalia’s dynamic is that talia has always understood that being batman will always come first &, crucially, she wouldn’t have it any other way.
it’s a big reason why I like brutalia so much; when it’s written correctly, everything abt bruce is accepted & loved & adored — & for talia to be able to do all of those things, she knows she also has to let him go… trapped in this eternal cycle of loving bruce at his truest form, when he’s doing what makes him happy, adhering to his sacred vow; while knowing that that stops them from being together, but that she wouldn’t ever want him to change for her… poetry
