And it’s only made better by the fact that Blitzø immediately backed off/didn’t pursue a play fight when he realized Stolas didn’t know/wasn’t into it.
Blitzø is so considerate sometimes, gotta love the gremlin lizard! ❤️
OH MY GOD I JUST REALISED
BLITZØ WAS TRYING TO DO WHAT M&M WERE DOING AT THE OFFICE! This is how you celebrate Sinsmas in the spirit of wrath—you playfully attack the people you love!
Stolas just didn't get it because he doesn't know about Sinsmas 🥺
I am calling it right here and now. One month before Octavia turns 18, Blitzø is going to adopt her
As much as I look forward to Blitz learning some self care and self love, he’s definitely not going to be learning it on his own. And I completely agree that it’s inevitable that the poor guy is gonna crash in season 3. But whether he burns out after the crash is entirely up to Stolas. And that’s where I have concerns.
Vivzie has stated that season 3 will be a rollercoaster of emotions, with a heavy focus on addiction and the Goetia. And poor Stolas has already been shown to have an addictive reliance on alcohol.
Now, I have faith that Stolas will ultimately be able to overcome his own hurdles to be there for Blitz, but like stated above. There will be highs, and there will be lows, and Blitz will likely crash and burn before Stolas is able to help. Just like how Blitz stumbled and made mistakes in season 2, season 3 will be Stolas staggeringly making mistakes of his own.
And though the angst with hurt/comfort will be everything Stolitz fans could ever want, watching it happen will still be painful.
So Season 2 of Helluva Boss ends with Blitzø playing caretaker / supportive boyfriend / emotional support cat-lizard to his birb, who is literally having the worse day of his life.
Blitzø, right now is at the top of his game and his mental health is at an all time high right now because this is a Blitzø who has fully accepted the fact that he is loved and it is okay to love and be loved.
But Blitzø himself hasn't learned to love himself or appreciate himself more, and the show makes it so glaringly obvious. And all I can think about is how Blitzø is going to crash so hard in Season 3 as his self-loathing eventually gets worse and worse to the point it eventually explodes...
Because Blitzø is most definitely putting his own mental health in the backburner in favor of helping Stolas adjust to his new life as a commoner, and life without being codependent on his daughter.
And right now, that's fine.
But here's the thing about relationships, it's a two-way street.
Blitzø can't play caretaker and supportive boyfriend forever, and eventually it's going to be Stolas' turn to support Blitzø when he needs it the most.
And the reason why I think it has to be Stolas?
Because Stolas hasn't seen Blitz cry yet...
Because Stolas has seen the marked out photos on Blitzø's walls, but he hasn't drawn attention to them yet...
Because Stolas knows that Blitzø has his own set of issues...
Just as Blitzø was the light that taught Stolas that he too could forge his own destiny, and make his own choices...
He's going to be the guiding light that will help him navigate his new way of life as a commoner.
As Stolas learns to find love through community, hopefully he'll soon be able to see the benefits that came from choosing Blitz in the end...
Just as he was the heart that helped Blitzø realize that it's okay to love and be loved.
Oh dang! I’m not the only one that thinks Octavia might be forced into an arranged marriage in season 3. I’m not sure if I’m terrified or gratified. Just depends on who ends up being the one that tries to set her up with someone in the end.
Though I do like Cartoon Universe’s take on it too
something tells me that stolas is just beginning to suffer.
I mean my boy blitz has been mentally tortured several times, had his self hatred reinforced by the people he cares about (intentionally or otherwise), been harassed in public, had an entire party of people who (allegedly) hate him and been fucking possessed while being forced to relive every single one of his most painful experiences by John waters fishsona!!
You cannot tell me that stolas temporary banishment and his daughter disowning him next episode is going to be the end of it!
Head my words stolas fans for you will now know what us blitz cells have been thought and I will pity you because your owl is going to be put through the fucking meat grinder when it comes to painful character development!
Periodic rent-lowering-gunshots:
Fiction is not reality.
You can enjoy things in fiction that would be awful in the real world. Like playing a murderhobo in a game! In the real world, being or supporting a murderer-thief would be pretty damn awful, while in the game it's just good fun. Same with anything else you choose to do with the pixels on the screen, like kinks that don't affect anyone real, so they're okay in fiction, but would be pretty damn bad in real life.
No one else is responsible for your online experience. They are required not to harass you, but they are not and never will be obligated to not post about ships, kinks, or tropes you dislike just to avoid you seeing them. It's up to you to blacklist words or phrases, block tags, or even block users as needed to avoid seeing content that upsets you.
No one can force you to read anything against your consent. Any content you don't like seeing can be instantly avoided by closing out of the offending post/fic.
You are not owed an online experience free of discomfort.
Nothing that happens in your imagination can ever make you a bad person. Words you write or read about fictional characters will never make you a bad person.
The claim that media consumption influences real-life behavior is intellectually dishonest and serves only to excuse the behavior of real offenders.
Fiction is a safe way to explore horrifying or confusing concepts. Therapists agree that fiction, even (or especially) about taboo topics is a good coping mechanism, especially, but not exclusively, for trauma survivors. Fiction is to adults what play therapy is to children. This doesn't stop being true if the work in question is of a sexual nature.
Sex isn't an inherently worse or better motivation than anything else. A work written to create feelings of arousal isn't dirty, shameful, or in any way less pure than works written to entertain, provoke moral questions, or for other reasons. And worth noting is that multiple purposes can exist in the same story, especially fanfiction.
You aren't entitled to an explanation for why someone reads, writes, or otherwise enjoys certain works, kinks, tropes, ships, etc.
Trigger warning to Stolas defenders, I guess.
I don't like the way the episode decided to make Blitzo the villain back to back. Stolas was such a hypocrite acting like he's done nothing wrong. "have you ever even apologized?" what a bold fucking thing to say after you banished him from your home when he attempted to do just that.
People keep getting something wrong about Stolitz, and that thing is..
And they never were. Blitzo does not have to spend every waking moment with this man if he doesn't want to. Sure, Blitzo does have feelings for him, but he also understands that they are strictly on BUSINESS because of a CONTRACT.
I don't see yall calling Angel Valentino's ex. Because they're not in a relationship. Same goes here.
Blitzo was hired as a BODYGUARD in LooLoo Land. Not a fucking escort. A BODYGUARD. Stolas made it very clear what his job would entail and what does he do? Flirt with him the ENTIRE TIME on a trip that was meant for HIM and his DAUGHTER.
I refuse to believe Blitzo has this many exes. How does he have this many when he couldn't even hold a relationship with Stolas or Verosika? Viv just wants to make him look worse than he is because there should be NO REASON why his exes can fill up a room.
He couldn't even bring himself to think Stolas or ANYONE could love him, yet he has this many exes? Viv, please. That's bullshit. They were flings or one night stands at best and you know it. Or idk, attended because Verosika is idk...A POPSTAR????
We don't know jack shit about these people. They could've been the toxic ones all along. And Verosika's just validating their pathetic asses. (Not all of them, but some select few, or most.)
Verosika's party is NOT helping anyone. She's acting like she's some unsung hero. "you almost make me feel bad for hating you" you should feel bad. You put this on yourself. It is NOT that hard to GET OVER IT. Blitzo is NOT that fucking hot. You're a grown ass woman, a millionaire probably at that. There should be NO REASON you can't afford therapy or find someone new.
She's not making it any better for the party goers. She's not letting them MOVE ON. She's bringing back these painful memories for the sake of 'helping them'.
I swear if she just got the fuck over it they would too. She's the one bringing in all this hurt EVERY YEAR.
Like, okay, it might work the first time. But EVERY YEAR?? Hell no. Now you're just being petty.
Can we talk about this "better than blitzo guy" who just swoops on in?? Like no. No no no. Stolas doesn't just get to have a happy ending. He has problems and we need to focus on those before we give him a new "impish little plaything" to toy with.
Neither of them are over Blitzo and they'll NEVER be over Blitzo, clearly. So this relationship is NOT going to work. Again, Stolas DEFINITELY has his issues and needs to fix the way he views people below him before he even DARES to try dating one again.
Blitzo put everything before Stolas, like his daughter and employees. As he should. Stolas puts Blitzo before everything, and THAT'S why his ass got his heartbroken.
Blitzo didn't even say NO. He just didn't understand. He knows this idiot has a hard time with these things, and yet held it against him anyway. I don't care what pills he was or wasn't on. There's no excuse for his actions when he KNOWS he's in the wrong.
Blitzo has already been called out for everything in the show itself, so I won't bother with him. They're both in the wrong. I need Stolas' to get what's coming to him.
This lovable dork is absolutely ecstatic that Stolas is talking about his collection. Blitzø is proud of his horse collection, and he’s more than ready to geek out about it with someone he loves.
The feels man, I just can’t with this gremlin lizard! 🥰
Blitz was checking in with his team. Watching their backs and offering them assistance or additional support if they needed it. He even returned to check back in with Moxxie since a decent amount of time passed since he last checked in.
It’s stuff like this that really highlights just how much Blitz cares about his found family. And makes me question why people are so surprised with how considerate Blitz can be with those he cares for in later episodes.
After rewatching Mastermind, I feel like the episode actually draws a very interesting distinction between Blitzo’s and Stolas’s respective big ‘Heroic Sacrifice’ moments. Namely in whether they are genuinely necessary sacrifices or a wasteful moment of a character pointlessly throwing their life away.
You see, when Blitzo does his big ‘throwing himself on the sword’ moment where he takes all the blame on himself in order to get Moxxie, Millie and Loona spared, it’s a genuinely heroic, necessary act.
In this moment, Blitzo truly did have NO other options. They were ALL being threatened with death, so Blitzo leveraged the one tiny bit of power he held and took all the responsibility onto himself.
This is very much not a case of Blitzo ‘throwing his life away’. Right then, he was going to die no matter what. But through his sacrifice, Blitzo made sure that the people he loved would live.
Now let’s contrast this with what STOLAS did. He does do essentially the same thing Blitzo just did to save him just as Blitzo saved his loved ones.
But in context, Stolas’s big moment of sacrifice is a complete WASTE. Because while Blitzo truly had zero other options, Stolas DID.
I mean think about it; Stolas is a Goetia. He has POWER, he has influence. The ABILITY, at least potentially, to save Blitzo.
But did he attempt to use any of that? When he appeared in that courtroom, did Stolas try to argue Blitzo’s innocence? Try to push back against his brother-in-law’s scheming? Try literally anything OTHER than big dramatic self-sacrifice?
No. Literally the first thing Stolas did was go straight to throwing everything away, INCLUDING HIS LIFE to save Blitzo. Admitting to whatever made-up bullshit Andrealphus used to frame Blitzo and co. in the first place and just throwing himself on the sword right off the bat.
And that’s not a good thing!
Blitzo was ready to sacrifice his life after it became clear that there was no other way to save his loved ones.
Stolas was ready to sacrifice his life because it seems to have been the first thing he could think of.
Do I really need to spell out how this is a VERY BAD THING for Stolas?
Especially given that one of those things he immediately decided to throw away without a second thought to save Blitzo happens to be HIS DAUGHTER.
I mean, you want a character contrast?
One of the last things Blitzo says is to ask his two best friends to take care of his daughter.
While I think it's pretty goddamn clear Stolas wasn't even THINKING about his daughter.
And before anyone pipes in with any trite about how their precious-little-blorbo-who-can-do-no-wrong ‘didn’t have time to think of anything else’ and ‘was just trying to protect the man he loved’,
Again; LITERALLY THE FIRST AND ONLY THING HE COULD THINK OF WAS THROWING HIS LIFE (and daughter) AWAY TO SAVE BLITZO. How the FUCK is that supposed to be ‘good’ or ‘excusable’?
And despite the ‘wholesome Stolitz domesticity’ ending note, Stolas’s reaction makes it pretty clear he is currently processing just how MASSIVELY and UTTERLY he just FUCKED UP. Particularly the whole ‘Oh shit I just threw away my daughter…’ reaction to Blitzo and Loona embracing.
Overall I think this is very much a deliberate contrast meant to highlight these characters’ growth, or lack thereof, as well as showing how they deal with a moment of true crisis.
For Blitzo, this is very much a make-or-break, back-against-the-wall moment where he demonstrates how much he truly loves his new family with a truly heroic act of self-sacrifice. Blitzo knew he was going to die no matter what, but he made sure that his loved ones would be saved.
Which of course is meant to sharply contrast how STOLAS handles the situation.
Blitzo’s moment of self-sacrifice demonstrated how much he loves and cares for his new family, to the point where he will lay down his own life to keep them safe. Whereas Stolas’s moment of self-sacrifice demonstrated how little he cares for HIMSELF, or anything other than Blitzo. To the point where his first response was to throw away everything, including his LIFE, and his DAUGHTER, to keep Blitzo safe.
My attention span is sporadic at the best of times or downright obsessive the rest of it. There is no in between. Once the obsession hits, there’s nothing else I’m gonna be talking, reading or writing about. So enjoy it while it lasts, cuz the obsession changes randomly. And regularly.
