Before Veilguard's release I was theorizing the Veilguard companion characters might have been designed to be parallels to the known Evanuris, but I couldn't place all of them.
Now that I've played the game (almost twice) I think I've figured them all out.
Rook - Elgar'nan, the leader. Controller of light and dark. The one who influences the others.
Neve - Mythal, who can be a fierce protector or a source of inspiration and hope.
Harding - Andruil, the hunter, who went mad from the Void and had to fight her way back
Bellara - June, the inventor. Master of magical artifact.
Lucanis - Dirthamen, keeper of secrets, who mastered the twin ravens of Fear and Deceit, and returned from death.
Davrin - Ghilan'nain, Master of Monsters, Keeper of Halla.
Emmrich - Falon'Din, the necromancer. Friend of the dead.
Taash - Sylaise, who's fire cannot be quenched.
Which leaves Solas to play the role he always has - Fen'Harel, the trickster and betrayer, who could ally with them, if only they will listen to his advice and try to protect their world as best as they can.
Hero of Ferelden and The Inquisitor: I have been dealt a cruel hand. Fate has me twisted into an Order to fight ancient Evil that threatens the whole of humanity.
Rook and Hawke: So, it's started with a dwarf hiring me to do a job....
as veilguard's premiere comes closer, an ask game with a couple of lore-heavy questions for your warden/hawke/inquisitor — answer for all three in your canon worldstate, or for the protagonist of your choice.
your Warden/Hawke/Inquisitor's opinion on Orlais?
are they skilled in The Grand Game?
opinion on blood magic?
attitude towards Andrastianism?
attitude towards the Chantry?
attitude towards the Qun?
if they had to choose one person most important to them, who would that be?
who do they hate the most, and do they have an arch-nemesis?
what is their love language?
are they good horse riders?
what are their religious beliefs, if any?
attitude towards Mabari?
their thoughts on the Grey Warden order?
who are they closest to from their family?
preferred weapon of choice?
do they get sentimental about their weapons or armour?
what were they like as a child?
do they have any irrational fears?
are they afraid of death?
where would they like to be buried?
what is their biggest regret?
have they ever been to Tevinter?
do they have, or want to have, children?
what languages can they speak?
what did they plan for their life to look like before the events of the game happened?
do they get a happy ending?
When you’re a Solasmancer and your inquisitor is a Knight Enchanter 🥲just came across this text at Emerald Graves
I'm quite set on playing an Antivan Crow Rook first but I have some loose thoughts about a Mourn Watch Rook, just because of how metal that backstory is
they/them - who cares about gender among the undead?
very pale, greyish complexion, they've barely ever poked their nose out from the tombs; pretty much look half-dead already
have a very good sense of direction in the Necropolis, much better than anyone else, rarely gets lost
serves a kind of keyholder role - has keys to a bunch of crypts, tombs, corridors and passages
no one is 100% sure where all these keys come from
knows exactly what key goes where and how to get to the lock from anywhere in the Necropolis
has a lot of love and sympathy for the undead
absolutely hated leaving the Necropolis and aches to get back; is pissed off at their superiors for making them leave their only home because of a bunch of snotty nobles
a rogue?
a nerd
not fully up to date with what's going on outside of the Necropolis (but has all the tea about what's going on inside) and with other nation's cultures and customs
their last name Ingellvar comes from the name on the tomb they were found in - the Mourn Watch actually looked into this family after finding them but the Ingellvars died out centuries ago and there are no traces of any descendants; the name stuck with them though
