you know it has occurred to me often recently that perhaps the correct way to fight fatphobia is not to insist thereâs something wrong with you if you donât find fat people attractive, but to focus on the fact that you should be able to respect and treat with kindness people who you donât find attractive. like. just a thought
guys i actually beg of you to not let palestine become an unpleasant flashback, a transient tumblr trend, a hasbeen subject that just faded away. as an arabâand specifically iraqiâgirl, i know what it feels like to have family displaced all over the world as a result of western imperialism. i know what it feels like to not be able to step foot into your homeland because itâs no longer safe. as an american iraqi, raised in the us and insulated from my roots, it wasnât until last summer that i was able to visit iraq for the first time, and even then my family was worried for my safetyâin my own blood country. although nothing like what palestinians are experiencing right now, it might be the tiniest semblance of what it feels like to watch your country disintegrate in front of you.
and this is a universal arab experience. i volunteer weekly at a refugee center that serves middle eastern refugees, and every day i see the longing in their eyes when they speak of where they hail from. itâs safe to say that we will be getting a wave of palestinian refugees very soon: just another generation of arabs who canât inhabit their own country.
arab culture is so rich, so profound, so beautiful. i am tired of being told by the worldâthrough literal genocideâthat it doesnât mean anything. please never let this be forgotten. free palestine. free palestine. free palestine.

I keep seeing a lot of ppl on my dash use aave when theyâre upset and itâs like....yâall know you can express your anger and feelings without pulling out a blaccent right? you donât need to be all âsis stop being a headass clownâ or whatever the hell to express your anger. you can do it without emulating the way black people speak
I think bringing up "it/its" pronouns is a good test for people who claim to be "trans allies" because it so easily weeds out the people who are only doing it superficially. I've seen so many people who will post "Punch your local TERF #transrightsarehumanrights" and then turn around and be like "If someone says they go by 'it/its' pronouns it's actually good to misgender them because they're just teenager trenders"
i heard that Biden was interrupted in his campaign speech like 10 times yesterday and i went to listen to it but i had to stop because the crowd would always drown out the protesters. A protester would yell "how many children have to die in gaz-" and then be drowned out by "4 more years!" You think the same crowd that would have the "stop racism and islamophobia etc" signs on their lawns would not be so politically opposed to people who used their freedom to dissent publicly against a president who claims to support his "diverse constituents unlike trump" while carpet bombing said diverse constituents' relatives. Pro-biden and pro-trump supporters have the same cultish mind sets as trump crowds fuck them. Youre not allowed to criticize the president that exists in their heads the ones they made fan edits for and thought would "save america from fascism." and if youre busy trying to write a response to my post about how these protesters are "allowed to do what they do but they shouldn't protest in such a vital stage of the election year" may i suggest that you understand that there is no "moral" reason not to protest a president that is sending billions of dollars to weapons to destroy Gaza. If you cant find that defensible or brave then might i suggest you read the first amendment and complain there. Because at that point its all respectability politics about a president that is responsible for genocide.
high school teacher voice hello neurodivergent openly queer kid everyone sees as weird. you need to select a partner for this group pr- what do you mean everyone partnered up already? what do you mean youre the only one left without a partner? well i guess i have no choice but to force you to walk up to a random set of friends and join their group while they ignore you for the entire class again

Putting the rant here instead of on the forum where it wouldn't probably do any good:
Actually, honeybees *do* compete with native bees.*
Actually, bumblebees and other native bee species can be *more* effective pollinators for some crops than honey bees.** Particularly the ones they evolved with. Funny that.
Actually, not all bumblebees are solitary. Many species have colonies, though admittedly much smaller than honeybee colonies.
Actually, bumblebees and other native bee species are used commercially, and that's a mixed bag as far as conservation goes. A simple search will show you this, if you aren't being intentionally obtuse.
There is so much to learn about native bees. Learning about honeybees does not actually make you knowledgeable about all bees. Native bees are crucial to our ecosystems and biodiversity, and are worth supporting.

âCringe culture is deadâ isnât just about letting 15 year olds cosplay MHA (but is also an issue). Itâs about letting 50 year olds dance at clubs even if theyâre âbad at itâ, itâs about letting 10 year oldâs wear random bits of clothes to make an outfit thatâs âweirdâ, itâs about letting adult men experiment with artsy makeup looks even when theyâre âmessyâ, itâs about letting teens scream music even if they âsound badâ.
âCringe culture is deadâ means letting people learn new hobbies at any age, experiment with their identity at any time, expressing themselves in ways outside the norm just as much as it means let 20 year olds play roblox.Â
Cringe culture is just social norms being forced on people rebelling against societies value consensus, itâs keeping people in brackets that are easier to market to.Â
Let cringe culture be dead in every aspect of life outside online spaces.
Got back from work around 3 am and my apartment was flooding.
Palestinian men and boys in Gaza describe the torture, humiliation, and dehumanization that they suffered during their time as captives of the Israeli occupation forces. âThey forced us to make dogsâ sounds,â one man tells the camera. âIf you refused to do so, they would beat you.â Another tells the reporter, âWhen they saw us falling asleep, they would come with a lighter and burn our backs with it.â
âEvery hour was like years,â the same man says. âThe torture was unbelievable.â Reports have emerged in recent days of mass roundups, torture, and execution of men and boys in Beit Hanoun and other parts of north Gaza. Detainees were identified by loved ones and others in the community who recognized them from the photos the occupation forces have been releasing.
As more footage and testimony are released, the depth of the horrors inflicted upon our people in Gaza are being brought to light. While we may never know the full extent of those horrors, what we already know is enough for any person of conscience to be able to identify as war crimes that are as depraved as they are systematic.
âMy message for the world is to look at those detainees,â the final detainee tells viewers. âWe are respected people. We are not animals.â

Save the (Megachilidae) bees
I went to this casino, but it was called a âcas-bee-noâ and every time you lost a swarm of bees would be released from the slot machines to sting you.
my biggest fixation for the past year has definitely been music, sharing and discovering new music, the stories behind music, little analyses of the sounds of music (which i've been writing on my Album of the Year account that kinda has longform bloggy content too) etc. etc. but the thing about music is that it is incredibly hard to discuss on text-based social media, not only cause it's trying to transmit audio based media through a predominantly visual based medium, but also engagement farming causes discussions to focus around hot takes and controversial opinions all the time. not saying differing opinions are bad or anything, music is THE most subjective form of art imaginable, but seeing the same black & white thoughts engineered to promote arguments and division every day, that's what those sites feed on, it's the worst. i like nuance. nuance makes my brain happy, taking in different perspectives and forming your own opinion, fucking love that shit, wish so many english essays didn't take off points for you using it. do you see how much i'm writing about nuance right now? this could've been an essay but here i am writing it for free
It *is* a problem that charismatic species are often focused on for conservation at the expense of less charismatic but important species, but threatened species that are the subject of a lot of public outreach and education are also typically strategically selected.
I suspect that monarch butterflies are an example of this. Milkweed is a highly valuable plant for pollinators and a host plant for like. 400+ insect species. Getting people to plant it to save monarchs is funny because you're essentially finessing people into saving a ton of other insects that they wouldn't ordinarily care about
iâm always so flattered when bees buzz around me. sorry miss, iâm not a flower, but itâs very sweet that you thought i was

i feel so bad for goths imagine constructing a subculture where the fashion element is so rooted predominantly in ostentatious elaborate clothes like drapey dresses and cloaks and detailed makeup and teased hair and big hats and trenchcoats and the pop cultural regurgitation of it is softcore porn of cartoon girls with huge tits in black tube tops and some fishnets
