That nb kid that got beaten to death in OK looks so much like a long time friend of mine that when I first saw the picture I was like "whoa that's [redacted] as a teenager" and then when I sent it to my friend her reaction was also "whoa that's me as a teenager???"

And that's the problem, isn't it. That kid looked identical to a cis friend of mine who is barely, barely, BARELY any amount of GNC. She's not hyper fem but she's also not particularly masculine any more than a typical rural Alabaman woman with too much shit to do to spend all day dolling herself up would be.

And that kid got beaten to death.

And buried under dead name and pronouns.

And I'm just kinda. Wondering where the safety and privilege is in that.

As I've said many times, I'm perfectly willing to talk about the areas in my life that have become safer as I pass with lore and more regularity. Now when are we going to talk about those who can't, or those whose gender expression isn't in passing, or those who have just begun their journey and haven't yet been able to do anything about it.

I still see people defending the IOF's bombing of hospitals, schools, and homes in Palestine by saying, "there are tunnels underneath them that Hamas uses" or "Hamas uses the people as human shields," so I thought I'd try to share something with them.

This is the building in which Saleh al-Arouri, the founding commander of the Al-Qassam Brigades of Hamas, was assassinated by Israeli forces on January 2, 2024, along with six (6) other Hamas members, adding up to seven (7) deaths.

Love them or hate them, that's not my point right now. My point is: look at the building.

Do you notice how it's still standing?

They targeted a single apartment flat, and the whole building is still standing. There are other apartment flats in the same building that look relatively untouched. The building next to it looks fine.

Additionally, only seven (7) people were killed in this strike, all of which were announced by Hamas as its members.

This is the kind of technology at the Israeli forces' disposal. And yet, when they bomb Palestinian schools and hospitals with the pretense of targeting Hamas soldiers, hundreds die and the entire building goes down, if not several others.

Maybe the IOF can be precise when they want to be.

But maybe, when it comes to Palestine, they don't want to be precise.

I don’t think you all understand the absolute fucking torture that Palestinians are facing from Israel. Could you, just for one second, pull your head out of your ass and analyze your cushy, privileged life. Just for one moment, think about how good you have it. You have a home, food, water, you’re not dying of infection from untreated wounds or running with no place to go from constant bombings. You don’t know what it feels like to have your skin burnt off by white phosphorous. You don’t know what it feels like to have your limbs cut off without anesthesia. You don’t know what it feels like to watch your dead children get pulled out of rubble, in pieces. You don’t know what it feels like to drink dirty water and go days without eating. You don’t know what it feels like to watch the neighborhood you grew up in be wiped off the face of the earth. You don’t know what it feels like to hear nothing but screams and the rumbling off bombs going off. You don’t know, because you have it SO much better than you realize. The people, the human beings, in Palestine are being brutalized and you couldn’t be bothered. Feel shame, feel guilt. If there is a hell, we are all going there.

concept: Icewing spikes are actually pin feathers. I was inspired by the scale to feather evolutionary theory.

i went down a rabbit hole. apparently there’s a gene called the Sonic Hedgehog (shh) gene that can actually trigger scaled areas in chickens to become feathers. which is funny to me because Icewings have a sonic hedgehog sort of silhouette going on.

this would only apply if you considered dragons more avian than mammalian ig.
