Not all of them were abandoned by individual people like family members and their community, but the government. Specifically Franky and Law.

idk if this makes sense but. i love how atsushi kind of stumbles into understanding dazai, completely on accident. like, chuuya for example understands dazai on a very deep level because they’re very similar, and so they have this profound connection, right. well atsushi can’t relate to dazai, and in many ways knows and understands very little about him, yet by pure chance always ends up saying the right thing at the right time simply because it’s natural for him to see dazai as human and take him at best faith possible
