This Is The Most Famous Photo Of Champ, The Lake Champlain Monster. It Was Taken In 1977 By Sandra Mansi

This is the most famous photo of Champ, the Lake Champlain monster. It was taken in 1977 by Sandra Mansi who was out with her family on the lake. As her sons waded in the water and she and her fiancé looked after them, Sandra noticed what she thought was a school of fish about 150 yards from the shore. After a little bit “the head and neck broke the surface of the water” and when her fiancé quickly ushered her sons out of the water, she snapped the photo with her camera. Sandra estimates the creature surfaced for four to seven minutes as they watched it. The original photo has been looked at by several experts and they can find no evidence of tampering with the photo to fake it. As of now, this is the most solid evidence of a monster in Lake Champlain.

Gef, Sometimes Referred To As The Talking Mongoose Or The Dalby Spook, Was A Talking Mongoose Reported

Gef, sometimes referred to as the Talking Mongoose or the Dalby Spook, was a talking mongoose reported to inhabit a farmhouse known as Cashen’s Gap on the Isle of Man.

In September 1931, the Irving family, consisting of James, Margaret and 13 year old daughter Voirrey, heard scratching and rustling noises behind their farmhouse’s wooden wall panels. Initially they thought it was a rat, but then the unseen creature began making different sounds. At times it spat like a ferret, growled like a dog or gurgled like a baby.

The entity soon revealed an ability to speak and introduced itself as Gef, a mongoose. It claimed to have been born in New Delhi India, in 1852. According to Voirrey, the only person to see him properly, Gef was the size of a small rat with yellowish fur and a large bushy tail. (The Indian mongoose is in reality much larger than a rat and does not have a bushy tail). He would never allow anyone but Voirrey to see him, however, and if he didn’t like you, you could count on being insulted, or pelted with pebbles.

Many researchers suspected that Gef was a poltergeist, and the Irving’s daughter Voirrey was at the right age for that sort of thing. If a poltergeist, Gef was rather a nice one. He often talked and joked with the family, and would occasionally leave small game, mostly rabbits, on their doorstep for dinner.

Gef claimed at times to be “an extra extra clever mongoose”, an “Earthbound spirit” and “a ghost in the form of a mongoose”. He once said: “I am a freak. I have hands and I have feet, and if you saw me you’d faint, you’d be petrified, mummified, turned into stone or a pillar of salt!”

The only physical evidence cited in support of Gef’s existence would appear to be a series of footprints, none of which were identified as those of a mongoose, stains on the wall, supposed hair samples which were identified as having belonged to the Irving’s sheepdog, and several photos which were claimed by the Irvings to depict Gef, (such as the one above).

James Irving kept diaries about Gef between 1932 and 1935. These diaries, along with reports about the case, are in Harry Price’s archives in the Senate House Library, University of London.

Bessie (Lake Erie Cow Monster Or Lorain Ocean’s Lake Monster)

Bessie (Lake Erie Cow Monster or Lorain Ocean’s Lake Monster)

Described as looking like a cow and having multiple heads in some sightings (yes you read that correctly). Sightings around Lake Erie started in 1907 and have continued ever since with sometimes basic or stranger description of the creature. One of the weirder descriptions was made by two brothers in 1937 as a creature made up of a hundred cows combined into one with arms.

This Grainy Image Has Very Little Information Surrounding It. All That Is Said About It Is That It Was

This grainy image has very little information surrounding it. All that is said about it is that it was taken in 1923 in Cobalt, Ontario, and is supposedly of Old Yellow Top - a Bigfoot-like creature that is said to roam Ontario. Old Yellow Top is said to be called such because, unlike other Bigfoot sightings, this one always has blond colored hair on its head. It is thought to be the oldest known photograph of a Bigfoot-like creature.

Pterosaurs Have Been Sighted In The U.S., Many Of Which Occured During The Civil War. Sightings Have

Pterosaurs have been sighted in the U.S., many of which occured during the Civil War. Sightings have occurred as recently as 2008 (as shown in the supposed pictures from above).

Although, many people claim pterodactyl/pterosaur sightings to be nothing but misidentifications of known birds such as the frigate bird.

In Washington State killing Bigfoot is a felony but in Texas Bigfoot is considered an invasive species and can be hunted at will.

This sounds like one of those cutesy funny cryptid posts but that is actually the legal status of Bigfoot in those two states, you can look it up.

Cutest Cryptid - The Tizzie Wizzie

Cutest Cryptid - The Tizzie Wizzie

The Tizzie Wizzie was reported to be a shy, water-loving cryptid from around the Windermere region of Cumbria. It was allegedly first spotted by a Bowness boatman in 1900, and was reputed to have the body of a hedgehog, the tail of a squirrel or fox, and bee-like wings.

The above photograph was apparently taken when one was captured in 1906, and was subsequently made and sold as a very popular postcard. It is highly likely that this creature was invented as a cutesy publicity stunt - but still possibly the cutest cryptid I’ve ever heard of!

The Jersey Devil Has Gained Many Nicknames Over The Years Since Its First Sighting. Some Are Less Creative

The Jersey Devil has gained many nicknames over the years since its first sighting. Some are less creative like “The Leeds Devil” while others are downright strange like “The Hoodle-Doodle Bird" or “Wozzle Bug”. It is not really known how the Devil got these odd nicknames.
