i say we start a meme where we take jokes that don’t work in other languages and translate them without explanation maybe only tagging with the original language and confuse the heck out of everyone on tumblr who’s not in on the meme like

in italian we say “prince light blue” (prince azzurro) instead of “prince charming” and i just saw a joke that in english would be “if you can’t find your prince charming, the solution is to take a random dude from the street and paint him”

to pretend that horrible people cannot make good art is another way to conflate beauty and talent with integrity and morality. the works of monsters are best examined with knowledge of the author in mind but art is not inherently reflective. human beings are creative, and habitual liars- it'd be stupid to pretend art must always be a portrait of its creator

I’d like to share this Tumblr tool with everyone. You give it a Tumblr URL, and it identifies the most popular posts (by note count) for each month in your history. It was quite useful for determining which comics to reblog for a “best of” week.

Note: To have it also include posts from 2013, click ‘advanced options’ and use the checkbox for 2013. It’s an old tool, which is a bit embarassing for Tumblr. Why isn’t this functionality built into the Tumblr interface?
