Prayers were dead songs lodged in my head, soothing, routine words that meant less to me than they should have.

This is sad.
This is so sweet.
Drypetis was such a soft girl; a little girl, with a wide coy smile hidden behind her hands and a tendency to stomp when she walked. She enjoyed the arts, and acted out small snippets of plays.
I remember once, she played at Ganymede and urged me to be Zeus. It was amusingly appropriate, given our age difference, and I made to spirit her away; as though she was the pale Trojan Prince. To my surprise, she instead took an ornamental sword and brandished it at me with relish, the hilt cracking against my left shoulder.
It seemed she had believed that the beautiful Ganymede had fought for his freedom here on Earth, rather than take the position as cup-bearer at Olympus itself.
It took the rest of the afternoon to explain to her that a cup-bearer to the gods was truly a sign of great status; but even when we parted after we ate, she still maintained that he would want to strike a golden eagle down; to show off such a magnificent bird with boyish charm.
(Really, the one with true boyish charm was her)
I am begging whoever is casting the Mass Effect movie to not whitewash Ashley Williams who is Latina, when there are plenty of badass Latina actresses who could portray her. We already had to put up with Bioware whitewashing her in Mass Effect 3.
He’s past the point of nooo return!
Julius Caesar led a single legion south over the Rubicon from Cisalpine Gaul to Italy. In doing so, he broke the law on imperium and ignited civil war.

We’re all pieces on a game board, Dr. March, and some of us are more powerful than others. You. Me. Her. We’re the ones the gods want. We’re the ones they’re fighting over.” “And I suppose you consider yourself the king on this board?” “You must not have played chess in a while. The king is the weakest piece in the game.” He gave Justin a level look. “The queen’s the strongest.”
