1920s Ameger has entered my head and WILL NOT LEAVE.

Just the idea of Ludwig who in the 20s has really just been through a whole lot of bullshit, and is very, very young by national standards, he's only 50 or so but is already 15 or so, if not a bit more physically, getting economically supported by the USA and now Alfred has Prussia's weird kid following him around like a dog whenever he gets the chance, and The USA is trying to stay isolationist at this point so this is hard.

But Alfred has to admit, he really is a pretty little thing, there are worse people to be tailing you.

Also ngl he's on a bit of a power trip at himself not being the young inexperienced one and being the object of someones very confused desire.

Also he realises what Gilbert would have been feeling during the Amrev and is dying of 150 year old embarrasment.

not me thinking about how Alfred must’ve actually been a very obedient and easy teenager for Arthur to parent, at least until the end of the Seven Years’ War. like Arthur would’ve been immensely proud of him??? the Thirteen colonies were the center and world leader of Enlightenment/Western political theory, the colonial colleges were respected institutions of learning, a surprising amount of the (white) population was literate – just in general, it’s easy for me to forget that the US was a major epicenter of law, political theory, and to a lesser degree science in general before it became the US.

like Arthur spends the mid 17th century unable to spend much time with Alfred until the Restoration, but every time he does get to sit down with Alfred for a few hours or so he’s always greatly impressed by how much Alfred reads and writes and debates and experiments. maybe he does or doesn’t realize Alfred is trying to impress him, but either way he’s got a lot of reasons to be very proud of his prodigy of a son, and he’s especially pleased to see him living up to his eponym’s love of learning.

like the English colonists were a bit unique in how they saw themselves and England? like the English colonists considered themselves Englishmen, not, you know, Americans or English colonists. they expected the same treatment from English regardless of which side of the Atlantic they were on. so imo Alfred was actually a very loyal and obedient kid, and he sorta ended up parentified if only to parent himself because Arthur was so busy. I just [clenches fist] love hcs where Alfred is genuinely the Dutiful Son and heir growing up, he manages the businesses of the Kirkland household (because Duncan sure as fuck ain’t doing that at this point in time) and the administration of the colonies in father’s absence and he does a damn good job at it. he’s resourceful and self-reliant enough to take care of himself and of anyone Arthur trusts him with. Alfred being his father’s right hand man is just so special to me.

also I like this characterization a lot because it makes their later relationship more interesting. Alfred goes from heir and trusted lieutenant to the family disappointment no one talks about to eventually Arthur is his right hand rather than the other way around. Alfred is the golden scapegoat personified lol.

I also like the dynamics it makes with his siblings since he’s so aloof that he doesn’t… really even see them as siblings all the time? not maliciously, but he just didn’t grow up with them. prior to the 20th century, the most time he spent with any of them was a single decade with Matt that was honestly pretty antagonistic at points. Successful Eldest Son/Golden Scapegoat embodied, man.

the v's are so funny to me. they own some of the biggest media companies in hell. they're a bunch of upstarts who have the patience of a toddler. only one of them can deal with the others shit at a time like they're playing the worst game of rock paper scissors ever. they call each other pet names. they're hells worst polycule. they're somehow the least and most efficient business partners ever. they're some of the most impulsive people on the cast. they manipulate each other constantly. they're a moth, a tv, and a clown. one of them is shown to be so much worse than the other two. i think they'd kill each other if they were allowed too. they lean on each other so heavily they'd knock over the leaning tower of piza. ive never seen three cunts try so hard in my life.

like what is wrong with them i want to put them in a terrarium and observe them with a magnifying glass.

Alfred, as a character and not just a nation, is very intriguing. He’s his brother’s greatest achievement and his greatest disappointment. A failure, but a winner. Put up on a pedal stool from a young age to show off to the rest of the world. He was a catch that everyone wanted, and when he finally got caught, he was paraded around and boasted about like a fancy prize.

People wanted him, but gave up on him as soon as the odds turned against their favor. His family loves the image of him that they created, but are indifferent to how he really is. Rotating between awe and pity and nothing in between. His friends either act like he’s a nuisance or hang off his arm.

He’s needed but scorned. Wanted but pushed away as soon as he’s done with the task, and having them act as they never asked for his help in the first place. As a person, it’s hard not to feel bad for him.

Hetalia Appearance Headcannons ʚɞ

America:

He's your golden boy, golden hair and golden skin; he's got a square jaw and full lips - he's a paragon of humanity. Think the Roman Goddess Nike, he embodies ambition and victory. Born bathed in gold, the sun itself shines its affections on him. Of course, a perfect metaphor for the first born son of the Empire on which the sun never sets.

It's charming at first, the appearance of a moviestar and the smile of one too. No nation can deny his beauty, his proportions, his musculature - all broad shoulders and toned arms and thick thighs.

But cold blue eyes soon betray him; blue eyes which never quite match his all-American smile. He's perfect, ideal, and he's acutely aware of it. He looks like a God and he see's himself as one too. There's an arrogance to him, a dismissal in the tilt of his jaw, mirth in his eyes as they flock to him. It's ugly sometimes, but its knowable, and familiar, and safe in its disgust for the weakness others.

Canada:

The mirror image of America, but a (duller?), (fairer?), (gentler?) version - it depends who's asking. Unlike his brother, he was born without the favour of the Gods; his features, no different from Alfred's, are less remarkable, missing the divine perfection. He's the type to hide his laughs behind his hand, to smile at the earth rather than into the eyes of another. His shyness of mannerism a reflection of his shy features, they don't shine the way Alfred do but rather curl in on themselves. From the cool tones of his hair and its light waves, to the softer blue of his eyes. Pretty in their softness, he holds his brothers beauty but without the harshness of perfection. Easier to look at, easier to talk to - he holds not the favour of the Gods but the favour of man.

Russia:

A striking appearance. He's big; tall and broad, easily 6'4, a thick wall of muscle. His hair is soft, white, or platinum. A prominent nose and big hands but the gentlest eyes, not quite blue but lilac perhaps. There's a sweetness to his eyes but a relentlessness to them, always watching, waiting.

He's angelic in his colouring and his softness. Not quite human, perhaps a God; his sheer size, he stood above mankind, a figure to be looked up at, worshiped, strived towards. But there was something not quite right about him, not a coldness or a cruelty, nor any imperfection. Rather, it was the feeling he inspired in others: when you're walking home alone at night, when you say goodbye to someone you know won't come back, when your hairs raise and your gut feels heavy with something awful.

He felt like sin, yet no sin belonging to any known faith or God. You could see it in the way he averted his eyes, the stoop of his shoulders, and the deep layers of his clothes. The shame, the sickness, the sweetness of his gaze. Unknowable and lovely and terrible, a cold parallel to the burning warmth of America.

A sun, its moon, and the dead white star far away.

He’s Like A Worse Mr House To Me

he’s like a worse mr house to me

my thoughts on him + his portrayal down there

OK SOOOOO FIRST OF ALL. i was genuinely really surprised at how halfway enjoyable he was? at least compared to the other cast… anywho. i was pretty frustrated with his dynamic with alastor (vivs Invincible Character) and i think they really missed out on some possible plot points.

first of all vox seems to be able to control other demons, at least those who view his programming, even beyond simple celebrity idolization. thats a LOT of possible power to have access to, and voxs manipulation of others could have been a good match with alastors raw, self-controlled power.

also the whole idea of radio taking the entertainment throne again is so ridiculous to me because like. people used to tune into tv broadcasts through the radio when tvs werent as widespread! they would still be consuming his programming anyways! alastor needs some kind of major weakness and his lack of popularity would definitely be a good way to do that

obviously i am additionally pissy about his time period inaccuracies. why make a character represent a certain decade if you arent going to make them embody it at all? i think viv recognized that people in the 1950s were enraptured by the idea of a new frontier of technology, especially through tv, but failed to incorporate that correctly at all. retro-futurism was and is interesting because people assumed their everyday customs and style of living would persist, even if technology became more advanced. vox to me completely lacks the sheen of socially perfect consummate professionalism characteristic of the ideal television host of the time. would it literally kill you to have a character not say fuck constantly and be addicted to sex.

Love imagining nations at their meetings. Like oh look at their little assigned seats with their little cup of water and their little name plate with their little flag pin!

Aww they're showing off their little slideshows at their little podium! Oh no! England and France are having a little fight! Oh and America has a little plan to save the planet! And he broke the little podium with his fist!

Oh, and Germany has a little migraine! He's going to count to ten in his head because of what his little anger management coach taught him!

Oh and now they're on their little lunch break! They packed their little national dishes for lunch!

And the cycle repeats.

Every time someone likes my post it feels like I am simple humble mortal who placed an apple on a shrine only for a god to suddenly come down personally eat my apple and go “very delicious 10/10” if they reblogged it then it’s still the same just they also slapped on a sticky note
