The first light of morning crept through, brushing your face and coaxing you awake. The faint chill of the air lingered on your skin. You stretched slightly, adjusting careful not to disturb the warmth on your back. Turning your head, you see Zoro still asleep, his arm draped over your waist, and his breathing slow and even against your shoulder.

For a moment you stayed still, watching him under the soft glow. His face was calm. His usually furrowed brow smoothed out evenly under the serenity of sleep. It wasn't often where you got to see him unguarded and at peace.

Reluctantly, you slipped from his heavy arm. He grumbled from his sleep but didn't wake, almost instinctively clinging to the sheets. You chuckled softly to yourself and rose from the bed, stepping lightly across to the bathroom. The rest of the crew would be stirring soon but for now, everything was calm.

Upon returning, the sight in front of you made you pause. Zoro was now curled up amidst the sheets. His broad shoulders bare and the blanket gathered in his arms. His face was half-buried with the faintest hint of vulnerability as he clung to the warmth around him. The man who could cut through steel and face death without flinching, now lay curled up like a child. Your heart swelled.

The moment you settled back in, he reached out, finding your waist and pulling you against him once more with that unmistakable possessiveness.

"Where'd you go?" he mumbled, voice low and still gravelly with sleep.

You smiled, resting a hand on his arm. "Just stepped out for a second." you whispered. "Didn't mean to leave you."

He grunted softly, burying his face in your shoulder. Come back sooner." he murmured, his tone rough yet laced with affection.
