Aegor Rivers, work in progress.
As partial as I am towards Bloodraven and the Blackwoods I do like Bittersteel as a character. And I will spend the next 20 years detailing his armour.
(the circles floating in the background on the sketch are the golden skulls of the Golden Company. Because I just love that concept. But I don't know if I will have the strength to render them in the final piece. We shall see who will win, if my lazyness or my love for creepy and awesome things)
Binge watching Get Back in one sleepless night (thank you insomnia) shifted my perception of the Beatles from "music I love from my childhood" to "new obsession unlocked". 1000% would recommend.
happy its like you and me are lovers 24th of january
I have my anatomy exam in two days and I should be studying but... it's late. And my brain is mush. I found this wip laying forgotten and I had at least to render the background until it did not look like an utter mess.
(I think it may be some unfinished ASOIAF fanart, because the tree is surely a weirwood, and the characters give me some Brynden and Shiera vibes, but mainly it was an excuse to learn to paint all the things I struggle with.)
VERY quick Book!Snape sketch. (30 min)
This evening my Harry Potter-loving friend called and we ended up talking about my problematic fave (even if I am not that much into the fandom I still enjoy both the books and the movies), so I had to sketch him. He is wearing muggle clothes just because I am too lazy to draw his wizard attire.
Pencil sketch of W. S. Burroughs because I have the flu on New Year's Eve and I'm home reading Naked Lunch
The dysfunctional House of Finwë at one of its finest moments, work in progress.
This will surely take me ten thousands years but it's fine. That's what the lockdown is for. And I do love my doomed Noldor.
(Sketching this was so HARD. It took me 20 perfectly happy minutes to sketch Nolofinwë, but Feanaro... I redrew him at least ten times before landing on this pose...and I am sure I will tweak it a thousand times in the greyscale rendering)
antarctic exploration is so funny because you read about the endurance expedition and it’s a zany adventure with a lovable stowaway and trials and tribulations that show the indomitable nature of the human spirit without a single man lost and it ends in a thematically resonant and meaningful way with a fitting and beautiful conclusion and then you get to the belgica and the crew are running away constantly, they frame the cook for his own beatdown and get him fired, the beloved moral-boosting chipper ships boy literally falls off of the boat and drowns before they even GET to antarctica, the commandant and the captain are deliberately freezing the ship in ice to protect their beautiful belgian honor, they’re constantly falling into crevasses, and the ships pet penguin dies in what i cannot stress enough is the most narratively ominous and portentous circumstance on the morning of their imprisonment in the ice. the doctor was literally imprisoned for fraud.
Morgoth's cry echoed throughout the valley, which from then on was known as Lammoth, for his cries lingered there from then on always. Ungoliant caught Morgoth in her web, tighter and tighter to strangle the life from him...
The Silmarillion, chapter IX "Flight of the Noldor"
Note: this era of darkness is not only a challenge to draw and color, but it's also dark and dreary. I'm looking forward to draw some scenes in light again. Might even skip ahead some scenes... although, there's some juicy scenes coming up that are demanding attention...
Just realized that the reason I love making friends on tumblr is because it’s exactly how you make friends on the playground as a six year old. No, I don’t know their name but they love mermaids too and built this awesome sand castle. No, I don’t know their age but their imaginary cheetah is friends with mine. You like this show? You like this character?? You can sing the theme song really loud??? Here is a flower crown. Here is a juice box. You can share my time and I might never see you again but part of you stays in my soul forever. In my mind we’re still on the swing set and the sky is blue and nothing will ever be wrong again.
Italian med student with an obsession for painting. Also a mythology and history nerd. Give me a book and I'll give you my heart.
