was it casual when reiner only turned over to save his life after bertholdt asked him to
was it casual when after bert died reiner literally almost pulled the tigger
HE GOT SO CLOSE
was it casual when all growing up bert was the only one who talked to reiner outside of training
was it casual when in the scouts they were the only ones who actually knew eachother fully
for years
was it casual when the last name bertholdt uttered was reiner's
was it casual when dont take this the wrong way but i didn't think you were all that in to girls
it wasn't.
nothing is casual with them.
so I’m starting to see more of this again…
um first of all it was clear Reiner had a split personality (soldier/warrior) so Bertholdt had to remind him that HE IS NOT A SOLDIER HE IS A WARRIOR! A WARRIOR GET THAT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULL! “Verbally abusing” my guy… most of the seasons bertholdt didn’t talk til last episodes of s2 and first few episodes of s3.
even a friend of mine explains it better🙄👎
anyways, pls understand bert’s character before hating on him👋😭 matter of fact just leave him alone if you hate him that much then fine but don’t be bad mouthing him. Reminder Bertholdt Hoover is an animated character A FICTIONAL CHARACTER!! So to be saying these things is wild, especially saying kill, torture because I have seen those haters day rhat about bertl. Bertholdt is not an abuser. Reiner was not being abused, it was his split personality cause from Marcel’s death as well. Bertholdt did not support Marley’s cause. He was a child brainwashed, only a child to help his father who sadly passed away after bertholdt’s desth (I forgot).
He also said he considered the scouts as his comrades, a true marleyan would not consider them as friends more, just distant themselves from the “devil island”
and now this…get ready
1. Bertholdt Did Not Abuse Reiner
The post states that Bertholdt “constantly abused” Reiner and “verbally abused him” whenever Reiner acted in a way he disliked. However, throughout the series, Bertholdt is portrayed as reserved, passive, and hesitant to express strong emotions, let alone be abusive. If anything, Bertholdt often follows Reiner’s lead.
• Bertholdt never physically or verbally abuses Reiner.
• On the contrary, he is often shown supporting Reiner despite his worsening mental state.
• The only time Bertholdt speaks harshly to Reiner is when he confronts him about his dissociation between his Warrior and Soldier personas—something Bertholdt does out of fear and concern, not malice.
2. Bertholdt Was Not Dismissive of Reiner’s Issues
The claim that Bertholdt was “completely dismissive of Reiner’s issues” is false. Bertholdt acknowledges Reiner’s mental struggles multiple times. However, Bertholdt himself is also struggling with guilt and fear, making him less equipped to provide emotional support.
• In Season 2, Episode 10 (“Children”), Bertholdt directly admits to being terrified of their mission and hints at the trauma they both carry.
• Instead of dismissing Reiner, Bertholdt passively goes along with Reiner’s dual identities, likely because he doesn’t know how to help.
3. Bertholdt and Reiner’s Dynamic Was Built on Mutual Dependence
Rather than a toxic or abusive relationship, Bertholdt and Reiner rely on each other heavily as fellow Warriors sent on a mission that has taken a heavy toll on their mental health.
• Reiner is the dominant force between them, and Bertholdt often follows his lead.
• However, Bertholdt does not reject Reiner or treat him with cruelty—he stays by his side until the very end.
• In Season 3, Episode 16, Bertholdt even expresses that he considers Reiner a close friend, despite everything.
4. Bertholdt Did Care for Reiner and Arguably Comforted Him
While Bertholdt is emotionally reserved, that does not mean he never supported or cared for Reiner.
• His loyalty to Reiner is evident, as he sticks by him even after their mission becomes increasingly dire.
• In their final moments together, Bertholdt still considers Reiner his friend, despite their impending doom.
Conclusion: The Post Misrepresents Bertholdt and the Relationship
The idea that Bertholdt was an abusive, unsupportive figure to Reiner is unfounded. Their relationship is built on camaraderie, shared trauma, and reliance rather than toxicity. Bertholdt was not a cruel figure in Reiner’s life—if anything, Reiner was the more dominant, forceful one between the two.
1. Marley ≠ Nazi Germany
Marley is not a one-to-one representation of Nazi Germany. The show’s world-building draws inspiration from multiple historical events and regimes, but it is not meant to be a direct allegory.
• Marley is an imperialist power, not a fascist state like Nazi Germany. It has been at war with multiple nations for centuries, using Eldians as expendable weapons.
Calling Bertholdt and Reiner “Nazi soldiers” is an oversimplification that ignores the show’s deeper themes of manipulation, war propaganda, and moral struggle. They were victims of a larger imperial system, not willing participants in genocide. Using such comparisons is misleading and trivializes real-world history.
I hope this LONG EXPLANATION WILL MAKE IT THROUGH THAT PIG BRAIN OF YOURS because hating on a fictional character is lame and especially saying very concerning things about him👎
In conclusion, shut up,
tumblr only toxic for miserable ppl i be on this bitch havin a ball
This reminds me of the scene from “The Lion King” where Mufasa is teaching Simba to pounce.
Levi “ok kid, be sure not to fire until you have a clean shot”
Gabi (focusing her aim) “got it”
Reiner (Shaking profusely while balancing an apple atop his head)
i literally love when people realize positive reinforcement works like yes its so silly isnt it. but it literally works humans love juice reward too
AOT memes pt. 12

I’ve been screaming on Twitter all day because Hajime Ysayama FINALLY revealed the canon timeskip looks for Ymir and Bertholdt! And I’m blown away by their hairstyles! Ymir’s is unusual but it looks so good on her and Betholdt has a mullet?!🥹💜
I love her looks so much AAAH💜 lol I am kinda proud🙈
Aot Analysis
It all began with Ymir. Her and her entire village was enslaved and their tongues sliced off. Her 'deification' caused by an accusation, as the entire village relied on her kindness to bear their punishment. And like some mere doe, the archers chased her in a forest. She then met a prehistoric creature that would give her titan powers.
It was a chance, the audience would say. She could finally escape that oppressive empire. But poor girl developed some kind of stockholm syndrome. Ymir was a simple girl with simple desires and yearnings. All she wanted was love, and she liked the idea of loving someone. Unable to explain that to the audience with her sliced tongue; she did with her scream in her titan form, with her fist that killed opposing empires. All of which was for the king, but doing it for the empire was her job.
Historia's father tells her the tale of Ymir Fritz (where she was referred to as Krista) Her father encourages her to be like Krista, depicted as a kind girl and as told in the tale that she made a deal with the devil to gain freedom. Her father used this not to encourage her pursuit of freedom but rather for her to want the founding titan power as he wanted to live a long life; those who possess titan powers get to only live for 13 years after obtaining it. Her father wanted to keep their title of being the royal family possessing the founding titan power.
(different from ymir fritz)
Ymir was once just a nameless child beggar in the streets of Marley. She was taken by a cult, and they claimed that she had royal blood—a descendant of their all powerful 'goddess', Ymir Fritz and named her after her. She was worshipped by a group of people. As an oblivious child, she assumed that people worshipped her for her own self, but it was only her 'royal blood' which she does not truly have.
technically both ymir and historia were nicknamed from ymir fritz' names, Ymir and Krista
Similar to Historia and Ymir Fritz, Ymir thought of fate as a concept; everything that happens has a cause and effect—that if she chooses to carry this great burden, she would save her people and that would be her great fate. Instead, her and including her people all got sent to paradise, where they got injected by titan fluids and transformed into mindless titans.
Ymir Fritz thought the king would love her, but even after all she did for the empire and positioning as his mistress, he didn't.
Historia chose to position as the queen of the walls, but it was to help people, not what she desired.
Ymir positioned as a royal blooded, to find out that it was all a lie—she was still a nobody, and such a thing like fate is fake.
In the eyes of citizens, those who held great authority were viewed as having many privileges; it wasn't really the case for these women, they were all forced to carry a job that masqueraded their dreams.
As the military police planned the assassination of Historia, Ymir stepped in and offered Historia freedom. Ymir represented a chance for freedom for Historia, the same way the prehistoric creature was a chance for freedom for Ymir Fritz. Although she didn't exactly refuse and Ymir eventually chose to leave Historia, she didn't accept it right away. The same way Ymir Fritz didn't take her chance for freedom in her life, and it led for her soul in the afterlife to be eternally enslaved by the holders of the founding titan. Eventually, Historia took the position of being the queen of the walls, she even bore a child even though she was a lesbian baddie.
Both Ymir Fritz and Historia were left unhappy with their past decisions.
