I'm thinking in unhealthy amounts about kind of AU where Reiner and Bertholdt stay with Scouts after their reveal and are sort of adopted by Hange (the plushies to blame). I'm mostly writing down ideas about how this happened and what the consequences could be, although I don't have a big brain like Isayama's, so I'm cooking and will probably burn the stove LMAO but I want to get it out of my head and make it other people's problem. This is about Reiner in fanfiction that aren’t about Reiner. He’s often depicted as a toxic ex or a violent person and I know they’re just fanfiction but in canon when was the last time you saw him harm anyone out right. When Sasha punched him unprovoked he said she was right despite it being unreasonable- he let Eren punch his face with his silly nubs. He’s just a teddybear 😞 I know he’s a fictional soldier but he’s genuinely just a teddybear

i use tiktok mostly just to post my own edits and see my mutuals stuff now bc im sick of the fandom on there. most of them clearly watched the show with their head up their ass or smth because they’re manage to come up with the most simultaneously hilarious and horrible takes ever.

also because not a single one of them can take bertholdt’s character seriously without rehashing the exact same name jokes i’ve heard since i joined the fandom in 2021. like sure some are funny but it gets so old so quickly, and when you make a post actually going into his character and being a bit more serious the comments are just “poor [some word beginning with b]” like PLEASE SHUT UP FOR A MOMENT!!!

this fandom rather completely forgets his character (who is extremely important to the plot and towards the entire character of reiner but that’s a whole other thing), hates him for what he did even tho they love reiner/annie, or they treat him like a joke and never bother to go past surface level with his character.

he is the most interesting warrior imo because he was the first to openly admit and see that all the fighting was stupid and pointless. that the paradis eldians were no different from him and him killing them wasn’t personal, it was what had to be done to save his father. there’s alot more to him but im worried this will become like 3k words if i dont stop but most of the fandom can’t even comprehend that its actually ridiculous.

people treat him like absolute shit because he died first and he was weak when firstly shut the fuck up?? he was not weak in the slightest and had the most powerful titan ability bar the actual fucking founding titan. like oh my god. and other people say “oh he was too attached to reiner” dog that’s the point. of his character. oh my god.

idk i think im just sick of the fandom treating him like this. he and connie are imo the most overlooked characters in the entire animanga.

and don’t even get me started on how shit both him and connie are treated in official arts and stuff bc. wow

Just a heads up: maybe if you didn’t accuse everyone of being a nazi people would hear you out on your concerns. But every time you post things like “if you ever wondered what you would have done in nazi germany, you’re doing it now” you make people not want to hear you out.

Anyways I’ve deleted Facebook because someone I am really good friends with posted this very quote and it’s just too much for me rn to deal with. After the Ithaca Saga, I believe that Odysseus thought he and Athena were officially done forever and would only occasionally see each other because she was mentoring Telemachus now. He really thinks there's no way they can reconnect anymore and attempt at a friendship this time, but he's fine with it, he can accept it.

That is until Telemachus goes up to him one day like:

"Hey father, can I ask you something?"

"Yes son, of course."

"You mentored under Athena before right? Do you happen to know a friend of hers?"

"Oh I... I wasn't aware Athena had friends before. She was very adamant about that "No Friends" rule back then... kind of stings."

"Oh really? She talks about him a lot."

"Does she now? *mumbling* must be so special about this fRieNd of Athena..."

"Yeah she told me about this one time he wanted to impress someone, so he climbed on all the way to the tree branch next to the balcony of their room and leaned against the trunk to look cool, but he kept talking to Athena in her owl appearance so he didn't notice the other person going to the balcony and he got so spooked when they called out to him, he turned too fast and lost balance, slipped, smacked his ass on the tree branch and broke his arm when he fell, so he had to wear a sling for 3 months and couldn't sit down for 2 weeks."

"....call Athena right now."

"Why-"

"ATHENA!!!"

The second Athena appeared, Odysseus threw himself at her, on one hand going "YOU CONSIDER ME YOUR FRIEND WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SO!?!?!?!" and on the other going "WHY ARE YOU TELLING MY SON ALL MY EMBARRASSING STORIES!?!?! THAT WAS BETWEEN ME, PENELOPE AND YOU!!"

He was actually crying. Athena has absolutely no idea what is happening or what she should do. Telemachus just discovered a whole new side of his dad and might know where he gets it from now....
