These are amazing! I wanted to ask if I could use some of these for a fic I'm working on?
So, for some reason decided to write my list of headcanons about basilisk, together with a couple of ideas and similars, enjoy!
---Basilisks are widely know as this powerful nearly unbeatable monsters, equally feared and respected across the Demon realm. People know they exist but they rarely show their true self in public.
---Basilisk are cold-blooded reptilian beast demons of great intellect (same as witches/humans)
---Basilisks need to eat and drink like any other living being, their magic hunger on the other hand is more like a cravinng which they suffice every one in a while. They train and discipline themselves to take control of said craving
-Draining magic from other beings without justification (Just doing it for the sake of power/craving) is view as a savage practice among Basilisk and a signal of one succumbing to its feral instincts.
-Althrought they don't need magic to survive (Can spent months without magic with no major consequences) Magic is vital for their bodies to properly mature and develop. The lack of magic during critical points of the growth can lead to some basilisk to stay small, becoming physical fragile, and the deterioration of some of their senses (commonly sight, taste and touch)
---Basilisk's hair is particularly noteworthy in their culture. As it represents growth, maturity, and the develop of their own identity. One's a young's mane fully covers their head they are considerate teenagers, and once it connects with their back's hair they are considered fully adults (The most strict parents would immediately kick out their children once this happens)
-For a non-basilisk to touch a basilisk's mane is regarded as a privilege reserved only to those they trust the most.
---Is a tradition to celebrate the kid's grown into teenagers with them choosing a second name for themselves. For those who live among witches this is accompanied with them coming out with their own disguise
-A detail no many know, is that Basilisk biologically speaking lack genders. During their transition from kids to teenagers, apart from their names and appearances they are also given the opportunity to choose and become the gender they wished to be identified as. (Yes, is a very awkward but equally wonderful kind of puberty for them)
---To call a basilisk "slug" is the same as asking to get your head eaten in the spot. Is considerate a grave insult, basilisk are reptiles, half snakes to be specific, so be careful to who you go around calling slimy. You may lose you head.
---In contrary to popular belief, Basilisk are just as sentient as any human or witch. And although they are beast and tend to follow their instincts they educate and train themselves to control said instincts.
---Basilisk shapeshifting abilities are limited to only the exterior of their bodies. Their insides can only readjust to accommodate their outside, the smaller or bigger the new shape is to the original, the more magic had to be use.
-Speaking of exteriors, they can only shapeshift their bodies into organic matter. When it comes to clothes and accessories they use extra magic and a layer of their scales to materialize a physical illusion, which if were to be removed, it would feel like peeling off a layer of your skin after sunbathing for too long (It hurts)
---Also in contrary to popular belief, basilisk are not divide by species. Each individual develops unique traits in their natural form depending on certain habits. For example, because of the conditions in which Vee lived, she developed traits that allows her to conserved magic and used it more efficiently (which is why she looks a little chunky around her tail) helping her sustain her disguise for longer periods of time.
-In a similar case, for a basilik to become a Greater one, they would need to dedicate their entire life to constantly feed upon magic, specially during their natural growth spurt to teenagers and adults. Leading to a massive increase in overall size, strength and raw power. With the downgrade of being incapable of maintaining their disguises for too long, easily succumbing to their feral instincts, and only being capable of sustaining themselves with magic.
---For a basilisk to willing reveal their true form to a non-basilisk is seen as a tremendous display of trust and affection. Is basically the human equivalent of coming out. It can go from very awkward to downright terrified for all of the involved.
---The reason the clawthrones were able to initiate their palisman carving traditions in the first place was because their first members were great friends with the local basilisks which lived close by the palistrom woods.
-In exchange for the protection of the woods the basilisks community asked for the founding clawthorns to not only keep their home secret but to also provide safety to their young in times of crisis.
-A certain clawthorn who traveled to the human realm was great friends with a lime-green colored basilisk who didn't trust one bit her friend's decision to befriend the human she brought with her. Especially his brother which she did NOT like in the slightest.
-After Caleb's death, said basilisk friend decided to make Philip pay for what he did to Marelyn's husband. She also suddenly disappeared shortly after, leaving Marilyn even more heartbroken than she already was.
---Belos knew the basilisk's abilities would be indispensable for his plans, so he made preparations to capture Marelyn's friend alive and use her to develop the coven's sigils. And lets just said he had long-term plans for her remains, very similar ones to his brother's
Also planning in making a couple more like this for: The emperor's coven, Marelyn, Caleb and Philip, Grimmwalkers, things like that. Stay tuned
As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse. It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search terms
As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable. As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.
Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.
⁂
Google is so powerful that it “hides” other search systems from us. We just don’t know the existence of most of them. Meanwhile, there are still a huge number of excellent searchers in the world who specialize in books, science, other smart information. Keep a list of sites you never heard of.
www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.
www.worldcat.org - a search for the contents of 20 thousand worldwide libraries. Find out where lies the nearest rare book you need.
https://link.springer.com - access to more than 10 million scientific documents: books, articles, research protocols.
www.bioline.org.br is a library of scientific bioscience journals published in developing countries.
http://repec.org - volunteers from 102 countries have collected almost 4 million publications on economics and related science.
www.science.gov is an American state search engine on 2200+ scientific sites. More than 200 million articles are indexed.
www.pdfdrive.com is the largest website for free download of books in PDF format. Claiming over 225 million names.
www.base-search.net is one of the most powerful researches on academic studies texts. More than 100 million scientific documents, 70% of them are free
I never thought I would need Stoner Asriel and Hispanic Susie in my life, but I’m glad that I do now
OK SO i wanted to celebrate my 420 followers on instagram in a special way so i drew this comic. Toriel is out of town on a pie convention so the kids decide to have some fun. Asriel decides to make weed brownies and kris invites susie to stay the night, things don’t go too well. And yesh, i have a headcanon where asriel is kind of a stoner lmao
Rogue Albatross Mackenzie "Mack" Titania Vermilion is the 21st pilot of Garland Vermilion, ancestral frame of House Vermilion, known as the Divine Engine Ancestor.
House Vermilion has dedicated itself to a generation spanning goal; the absolute destruction of the Karrakin Baronies.
Fly True - Motto of House Vermilion
This has been a historical source of friction between the Albatross and House Vermilion, nominally allied against the Baronies. Vermilion has produced some of the greatest Albatross to ever live, as well as some of its most conflicted.
Every scion of Vermilion that becomes an Albatross bears the same burden. Balancing the imperfect reality of the Albatross' ideals, Vermilion's ancient grudge, and the expectations of stewarding the Divine Engine Ancestor. With Mackenzie, its latest champion, that delicate balance has finally broken.
Lol, all that discussion of whether you're a furry or not reminds me when the same thing happened to me with my friends. They accused me of being one because I had some images in my profile of anthropomorphic characters. And although in the end I ended up becoming one, it was very fun to argue against them that I wasn’t xD So continue with your fight, stand firm against those people and have fun while you do it!
Azen, more like... Furry. :p

This was written for a gift fic exchange for @wonderwafles. I was very surprised to be, apparently, the first person to use Luzaku as a character tag on Ao3? With the amount people have been swooning over her online I am so confused. Perhaps she's just not being tagged? I don't know. All I do know is that this makes me want to include her in more things because she's amazing.

Summary: Eris visits Luzaku in the Blooming Deep.
"The Sky greets you."
"Hmmm...."
Light poured in from the roof of the grotto as Luzaku bowed reverently to the god of Vengeance.
Eris Morn approached the thin silver sapling limbs sprouting from the rocks in the centre of the Blooming Deep. Her steps were sure and measured. Luzaku looked upon her with awe.
Behind her, Eris Morn's companion peered out from a large rock. It kept its gun muzzle pointed directly between Luzaku's three eyes.
Luzaku nodded toward the companion in acknowledgement as one would an Acolyte for a revered Hive Wizard. It smiled. The smile was unkind and threatening. Filled with teeth. Luzaku wondered if this was an attempt at expressing friendliness in a cross-cultural way. She suspected otherwise. The gun muzzle did not waver.
Luzaku turned back to the Sky Mother's newest sister as the three-eyed human examined glowing buds on pale spindly branches. She seemed to ignore Luzaku although the Wizard could not help but notice that the strange soulfire enshrouded orb in Eris' hand pulsated with every approaching step she took.
Luzaku slowed her movements and kept her distance so as not to startle the watchful one. Unlike the Bane of the Swarm, it was nervous, its focus coiled tight.
The god of Vengeance, in contrast, seemed unconcerned, as though Luzaku was not even a threat compared to the hordes she had vanquished. This was something Luzaku knew to be true. Should Crota's Bane desire Luzaku's death, that death would already have come.
"I am told you protect it." Eris spoke after many tense and silent moments.
She did not face or address Luzaku, looking instead to a space beyond the tree, but the intended recipient of her words was clear enough.
"This one's place is here," Luzaku explained. "This one will contemplate. Protect. Plan."
"Plan what?" Eris asked. Her voice demanded response. Luzaku was impressed by how compelling the small fleshy god's utterance was. The latent power beneath the deity's tone was palpable and far larger in stature than her physical form. Despite their size difference, it made Luzaku feel... small.
"This one does not know." She answered truthfully. "Only that this one's plans remain defiant to the all-edged lie."
"Hmmm..." Eris turned. Her three glowing eyes, bound by cloth, looked at Luzaku as though only just noticing her now. Eye to eye to eye. An Acolyte's eyes. Just as Luzaku's had once been.
The god of Vengeance uttered one word, again compelling an answer: "Why?"
This was judgment, then. Luzaku felt herself swell with strength as she replied from her innermost being. She spoke her truth to the Sky Mother's sister plainly and without artifice. Unafraid. Let her be judged. Aiat.
"The Sky... the Light... calls to this one."
The small fleshy god's head tilted to the side, listening.
"We all have our purposes," Luzaku continued. "We are all our own individuals. This one's purpose is here."
The watchful one behind the rock twitched as Luzaku floated near to the tree and splayed her three-fingered hands near the branches, caressing them without touching them.
Eris continued to look up at the Wizard, her expression unreadable.
Luzaku floated back slightly and bowed again to the Bane of the Swarm. Her chitin felt suddenly brittle.
The silence lay thick and heavy between them. Luzaku waited.
Eris Morn took a step forward, removed her glove, and placed her hand on one of the small roots of the young silver tree.
On instinct, Luzaku tentatively reached out her Hive-clawed hand and took hold of one of the silver sapling's upper branches.
Time seemed to slow.
Beneath the bark Luzaku felt a surge of energy welling up from below them both. Sadness. Hope. Relief. A feeling of almost... completion. A rightness. A sense of calm. Gratitude.
Movement on the edge of Luzaku's vision caught her eye and pulled her from this strange arboreal communion.
The Lucent Hive Wizard watched Eris Morn's Acolyte-like companion shift and raise its gun toward her.
Why would it attack now, when the small fleshy god seemed content? Did it perceive Luzaku as a threat? There was no time to react. The companion was so quick, its eyes cold, its expression vicious. The gun fired so fast.
Luzaku let the calm from the tree wash over her as she waited for her death to come, knowing as she did so that any companion of the Sky-Mother's sister would know how to crush her ghost. This was the end, then. She felt only confusion and a small sadness.
The gun barked four times, five, six.
Both Luzaku and Eris let go of the tree.
Luzaku looked down upon her chitinous body. She was uninjured. The bullets were not meant for her.
She spun in the air. On a moss-covered ledge behind her were the dissipating forms of four Taken Psions and a Phalanx.
"Sorry for ruinin' the moment," the companion said with a gravelly voice while spinning its pistol on its finger.
"Hmmm... thank you," the tiny god's voice was warm, almost gentle. "We were both... preoccupied."
Luzaku, too, bowed in thanks.
"I could see that," the companion said. It holstered its weapon. "Look, if you two are gonna keep fondlin' that tree we should set up a perimeter. This place is crawling with Taken."
"That will not be necessary," Eris replied, staring at a point on the rock wall away from both of them. Then she added "...this time."
Luzaku cocked her head.
"I would, however, appreciate your assistance with a perimeter when I return," Eris continued.
She looked back to the Lucent Hive. "Do you know what tea is, Luzaku?"
The way Eris Morn said her name was different from all other humans Luzaku had encountered. Eris Morn used the inflections and pronunciation of the Hive. Luzaku felt a shudder run through her at the sound of an alien human tongue speaking in a way that was so intimate and familiar.
"This one does not."
"It is a drink," Eris explained. "I will bring some and we will share it when I visit you next..." She paused and the corner of her lip quirked up in a small smile before she continued, "...Guardian."
Luzaku hissed in surprise, twisting in the air a moment before composing herself and responding...
"Aiat."
The companion raised both of its eyebrows at this exchange, looking back and forth between Eris and the Lucent Wizard. Then it shrugged and fell in step behind Eris as she walked toward the exit.
Just before they left the watchful one did something odd. It paused in the doorway, put two of its fingers near its temple and then quickly moved them away while looking at Luzaku.
Then it turned to Eris and said "Ya know, I always wanted a pet Hive."
Luzaku heard Eris sigh deeply as they both disappeared from her sight.
i also play destiny (2) here's my guardians
guy on the left is korhal, ahamkara who managed to survive the great hunt by immediately laying low. not actually a hunter but pretends to be one because no one questions guardians being weird. pretending to be a hunter specifically because doing all the paperwork everyone else refuses to do makes them essential enough to keep around, and keeps them off the front lines.
guy on the right is cricket, eliksni warlock. he likes fish. and pink. i'm not actually sure when exactly they were first risen but they survived out in the ruins of old earth for a fair bit of time before getting picked up by the vanguard
