I saw this quote a while ago on Tumblr and had saved it in my likes since I thought it was cute. My reading for university this week was about an Aboriginal girl who studied law at UNSW and Harvard university, despite being told she wouldn’t amount to anything by her teachers. She didn’t listen to these comments thanks to her encouraging family and friends! It was a really interesting read and eye-opening. I thought this quote related to her story and would make a lovely motivational printable! You can download the printable as a PDF from the links below.

He bought me all the books on homosexuality. […] His comment to me was “if you run into words you don’t understand of a technical or medical nature, write little notes down and when we get together on the weekends I’ll interpret whatever I can”. I was very lucky, I had a very understanding family”

J.J. Belanger (right) was born in 1925 in Canada and died in 1993. In an interview he talks about his war love story, heartbreak, Alfred Kinsey, and fighting for trans rights. Listen here
