show, don't tell:
anticipation - bouncing legs - darting eyes - breathing deeply - useless / mindless tasks - eyes on the clock - checking and re-checking
frustration - grumbling - heavy footsteps - hot flush - narrowed eyes - pointing fingers - pacing / stomping
sadness - eyes filling up with tears - blinking quickly - hiccuped breaths - face turned away - red / burning cheeks - short sentences with gulps
happiness - smiling / cheeks hurting - animated - chest hurts from laughing - rapid movements - eye contact - quick speaking
boredom - complaining - sighing - grumbling - pacing - leg bouncing - picking at nails
fear - quick heartbeat - shaking / clammy hands - pinching self - tuck away - closing eyes - clenched hands
disappointment - no eye contact - hard swallow - clenched hands - tears, occasionally - mhm-hmm
tiredness - spacing out - eyes closing - nodding head absently - long sighs - no eye contact - grim smile
confidence - prolonged eye contact - appreciates instead of apologizing - active listening - shoulders back - micro reactions
I would hype it up more but this is really really simple. It randomly generates a set of symbols, colors, and a word, and then the expected thing to do with those is you draw some sort of character based off the result you get. So it's just an art challenge toy thingy.
There are also some practical features like you can lock parts of the result in place to rerandomize the rest, or hide parts of the generation you don't care about (like if you want to pick your own colors or hate the words being there)
It should run in browser, but there's also a downloadable version for Windows if you want to use it offline. (No mac/linux versions for now, because I don't have appropriate computers to test those on and I...don't want to deal with mac's developer accounts or whatever their problem is...)
Here's something I made from one of the results I got for the sake of example:
(It's a bit of a rushed drawing sorry I just wanted to get the actual generator out there)
I hope everyone has fun with it :]
IF YOURE IN NEED OF A WEBSITE WITH A FUCKTON OF GOOD COLOR PALETTES. GO HERE.
it's mostly a website used for pixel artists to share their palettes for free download, BUT from my experience as someone who does pixel art from time to time, using it as a resource for my regular drawings also works very good. theres big and small color schemes on this website
pixel artists are very very good at making color palettes and MANY of these are far more versatile than the regular coolors 5-color color schemes youll see floating around on art resource compilations. you can search up any tag to find the palettes youre looking for (the maximum amount of colors you can upload on a palette here is 256 so the sky really is the limit), and you can even search by the number of colors you want. theres literally thousands of free palettes put up by artists there for free downloadable use.
this is a really precious service and i always siphon people looking for color schemes here when i can. go check it out
a couple snippets from a presentation i gave at school this past week on storyboarding!!
‼️DISCLAIMER: I am still a student and have only worked on student and indie projects! This is just stuff that I personally find helpful as an amateur, so feel free to take it with a grain of salt!
Happy boarding, friends! ✍️💕
helpful tattoo reminder: they are technically Injuries so u have to eat a lot of calories drink a lot of water and sleep a lot after so your body can Heal The Injury
hey did i mention it very mildly annoys me when people confuse possession/mind control/hivemind infections/other similar tropes, so i made an entire “possession shorthand” code that can communicate almost all aspects of a possession/mind control/jekyll and hyde/etc character in a string of letters and numbers
i was very bored
^ conditions
^ more detailed explanations of each condition
edit: Here i made this its even more. detailed explanations beacuse the previous explanations sucked still. also you can use the phrase “reoccuring” instead of “jekyll and hyde” for brevity or if you’re just uncomfortable with using the latter term for any reason 👍
i tried to make it so that you can communicate enough to get a basic idea for the dynamic of any possession-esque character. DO i plan on using this to communicate with anyone? No but it’s fun to have
(rules for use if you wanna use it for some reason:
1. DON’T use for characters/people with DID, OSDD, etc. this is supposed to be for silly fictional tropes you’d see in a cartoon not Dissociative Disorders)
2. DON’T use for f*tish/s*xual purposes fuck you)
(The best of this post and its reblogs, but with links that work)
