A Lesson and Progress:
Saiko stared at the ceiling of the nurse’s office.
She failed.
But she didn’t really fail. She passed the exam. But for some reason, she felt a heavy weight in her chest.
She was... disappointed, some would say.
Her friends had already begun preparing for summer vacation - some were traveling, yet others were spending time with their families in their hometowns...
But Saiko was...
Well, what was she doing? She was still sulking around like a failure.
She slowly lifted herself up - not wanting her injuries to worsen with sudden movements. The combat she had done was too much for her to handle on the day of that exam, and she regretted not practising before.
She looked at herself in a mirror with shame - her hair was a huge mess and heavy bags hung from under her eyes. Who would bother to look at that?
Suddenly, the door opened.
"Get back in bed, Tea-Brain."
It was Ataru.
"You of all people I really didn't expect to see." Saiko quickly brushed off her sad expression. "Neither did I want to see you."
"Ha-ha, very funny." Ataru shot, sarcastically, "now get back in bed."
"No."
"I wasn't asking. Now do it."
Saiko huffed and sat on the bed again, "for the record-"
A brown bag was suddenly stuffed in her face. "Here," interupted Ataru.
"Excuse me?" Saiko took the bag and glared at her classmate. "Am I some sort of bag-holder to you?"
"I mean, it would be pretty useful if you were."
Saiko blinked.
"It's for you."
She blinked again. "Me?"
"Yes, you. Who else would it be for?"
Saiko held back an excited smile. "What's in it?"
"Why don't you open it and find out?" Ataru took a seat next to Saiko on the bed. Saiko paused.
"Is this some sort of trick?"
"For crying out loud, you nerd - just open it."
Saiko unraveled the bag and held it open.
"Tea?"
She tried to hold back her excitement.
"Yeah."
She hurriedly took the tea box out of the bag.
"You got me..." she paused and shook the box. "There's... nothing in here..."
"You sure?"
Saiko shot a glare at Ataru again. "You think this is funny?"
"Kinda," smirked Ataru.
"Well it's not."
"Just open the box, okay?"
Saiko rolled her eyes, "fine." She opened the box, and took out a small piece of folded paper.
"Really?"
"Oh, come on. You didn't even read what's on it."
Saiko sighed and opened the paper, carefully reading what was on it.
"What does it say?" Asked Ataru, who showed no genuine interest in the note whatsoever.
"It says to open the door."
"Then do it."
Saiko slowly stood from the bed, then turned around to Ataru. "If this is some kind of prank, I'll make everyone hate you." She said coldly.
"Eh, they already do."
Saiko approached the door cautiously and opened it.
"Surprise!"
Everyone in the exam - everyone that was with her - they were all there.
Tomomi, Setsuka, Chihiro - all of them.
"What... what..." Saiko was surprised, needless to say.
"We all came to visit you!" Smiled Kosa, "how are you feeling?"
All of them leaned in to listen to Saiko's response.
"B... better?"
They all grinned happily. Suddenly, Saiko was nudged in the shoulder. She turned around to see Ataru holding another tea box.
"Here."
Saiko took the box and opened it, expecting another note.
She smiled greatly, "it's tea! Thank you!"
"Sure."
She pulled in Ataru for a big hug, but got pushed away shortly after.
"Yeah, yeah. Don't get too close." Ataru warned, hiding the red blush on her face. Saiko smiled brightly at all of them.
"Thank you, all. This really made my day." Thanked Saiko. All of her classmates smiled joyfully.
They began to crowd her, each one giving her a hug or telling her stories about what happened while she was gone.
"Okay, guys, give the girl some space.”
They all stepped back, and after a short few minutes, Saiko went back into the nurse’s office again.
She shut the door behind her, clutching the tea box with both of her hands; a warm feeling of appreciation and gratitude outshone the previous feeling of disappointing.
Saiko smiled to herself, then set the tea box down on the bedside table and laid back down on the bed.
I have such wonderful friends...

Day 1 - Training
Kirishima gave it his all on the treadmill; beads of sweat trickled down his face and his breaths were heavy and hard. Today was probably one of his best days of training - he got a lot farther then most days, and there weren’t any other plans he had. Just a whole day of training to himself, and he couldn’t think of a better way to spend it. A hero in the making can’t rest - after all, it wouldn’t be very manly if he wasted this perfect day!
Kirishima reached for his water bottle and shook it. There was no more water left. I can go for a few more miles without it, he thought, checking the mile counter on the treadmill screen.
But after those few miles, Kirishima began to feel light headed. Just a few more... the treadmill began to go slower, soon slowing down to a complete stop.
“You should take a break, Eji.”
“Huh?”
Kirishima looked up to see his girlfriend eyeing him worriedly. “Oh, nah, I can go for a bit longer...”
Kirishima noticed the emotion in her eyes. She wasn’t buying it. But what was to be expected for the best girlfriend a man could ask for? “Really, Setsuna, I can.”
Setsuna sighed, “okay, fine. But at least take a break for an hour or two. And make sure to refill this,” she raised his water bottle and shook it. There was no water in it. At all.
About to protest, Kirishima opened his mouth, but Setsuna beat him to it. “No buts, Eji.” Setsuna gave a joking tone and made a face, “it isn’t very manly to push yourself hard and injure yourself right after.”
Kirishima smiled at her sweet attempt. “Okay, fine, but only for a few m-”
“Hours.”
“Okay, hours...”
After all, Kirishima realised, another way to spend my day, is with her...

The left side of the early morning sky was a dark lavender shade; the temperature cold and bitter, but the right side showed a baby blue that was easy on the eyes, and the feeled temperature that was gradually getting warmer by the half-hour. Yao-momo watched the usual morning doves soar gracefully in the sky that reminded her of her other half. The one that was still fast asleep back inside. After two long weeks of hard, non-stop hero work, the two could finally get the sweet relaxation they both well-deserved.
She sipped her tea thoughtfully, the boiled water warming her up from the inside out almost instantly. She gazed upon the view of her apartment balcony, located on the thirteenth floor. The town - regardless that it was 6:30 in the morning - was just beginning to buzz with its usual life and energy. A few cars began appearing on the road and driving to wherever the errand-runners and work-women needed to be, and the lights of small corner stores and pharmacies were starting to be switched on; preparing for their day of demanding customers.
Yao-momo yawned and stretched out her legs, tugging her knitted, vanilla sweater over her shoulders and stood up - empty teacup in hand. Even though it was her first day to finally relax and take it easy, she always made a schedule. And that schedule had started right now.
Yao-momo went back inside, put the kettle on boil, picked a tea bag at random and set it down in her cup.
“Good morning.”
Yao-momo quickly glanced behind her. “Oh, good morning, Shoto.”
Yao-momo heard the scraping of a chair, and assumed Shoto had dragged himself to the kitchen table tiredly.
“Why’re you up so early?” Shoto asked, his morning-voice deep and rough.
Ding.
Yao-momo turned back around and took another teacup from the cupboard, then poured the boiling water into both of them and dipped the tea bags in and out of the hot water to let the herbs seep in.
“I found it hard to sleep, so I got up and made myself some tea.” Yao-momo explained, turning around with two full cups of tea in each hand and sat across from Shoto, placing his cup in front of him, along with a tender kiss on his head.
“Why did you get out of bed?” Asked Yao-momo in return, but Shoto had already nestled his head on his arms - dozed off. Yao-momo turned to look out the kitchen window; apricot sunshine was now peeking out of little-fall clouds, officially starting the day for many. Yao-momo gingerly took a sip of her tea, but winced as she took a rather big one and burned her tongue. She threatened to spit it out, but resisted and swallowed it with - quite literally - hot pain sinking down inside her chest.
She looked back at Shoto; his breathing done in long, heavy sighs. Yao-momo began to worry that he would accidentally fall on the floor thinking that he was in bed, but shook her worries away with a literal shake of her head. He wasn’t stupid, after all. There would always be that thought that reminded him that he wasn’t in his bed lingering in the back of his mind - just like sleeping on an airplane.
Yao-momo sighed and stood, then walked towards the window, getting a better view for herself. The streets below her were now packed with ant-sized people bustling together to form a thick crowd. She remembered being a part of that crowd just a week ago, patrolling the streets like the hero she trained to be. Shoto had been patrolling in a different part of the town.
But wherever they were, they both worked equally hard, and it was safe to say that one of them was extremely exhausted - no doubt.
