Wow, this is like a sudden smile from the stranger on the bus you take every morning together.
Okay! 5 things!
looking forward to a summer party I organised, meeting my friends
realising I could perfectly recreate my childhood ice tea (and i DID)
realising I wasn’t ‘failing’ for suddenly preferring some basic clothes instead of my usual vintage
finding out that I really like my summer job
my newest, beautiful obsession, Anne of Green Gables. It’s so *sobs happily*
This was fun! Nice to meet you! <3
I'm an intern and my job is to enter addresses from hand-written letters into the database and did you know that Joshua Neumann from Hermannstreet 4, Cologne, has a life too
Oh
He's a principal in a small town. I googled it.
A mid-50s couple donated 100 dollars to our cause and I said that's very generous of you and he shrugged and said is it really
Oh
I guess it isn't really. Not for us.
When I came back after New Year the woman I've been working a lot with saw me in the office kitchen and hugged me.
I googled a scrawled address to decipher it and the town was so pretty I'm going to go there on a day trip with some friends. By train. Like we did 2 years ago.
You know what I'm saying, you know it.
Pablo Neruda, tr. by Mark Eisner, "One Hundred Love Sonnets: XVII", The Essential Neruda: Selected Poems
"Greetings to the Universe in 55 Different Languages", a poem compiled out of messages from the Voyager spacecraft
i have no plans to have children, but if one day i do, i'm going to break that cycle like a motherfucking glow stick.
In the future, children will think our ways are strange. "Why do old people always grow so much milkweed in their gardens?" they'll say. "Why do old people always write down when the first bees and butterflies show up? Why do old people hate lawn grass so much? Why do old people like to sit outside and watch bees?"
We will try to explain to them that when we were young, most people's yards were almost entirely short grass with barely any flowers at all, and it was so commonplace to spray poisons to kill insects and weeds that it was feared monarch butterflies and American bumblebees would soon go extinct. We will show them pictures of sidewalks, shops, and houses surrounded by empty grass without any flowers or vegetables and they will stare at them like we stared at pictures of grimy children working in coal mines
Annie Choi, Studio Ghibli
Lucy Maud Montgomery, Anne of Avonlea
why does viva la vida by coldplay always go so hard. i hear those opening strings and instantly im a cynical and mournful king walking through his overthrown kingdom like oh shit I totally did used to rule the world!!! I used to roll the dice and feel the fear in my enemies’ eyes but now im literally sweeping the streets I used to own!!!! idk what it is about this song but for some reason i can’t explain
Being a young adult is so strange. You enter a coffee shop. The 20 year old girl waiting behind you cried all night because she just came to a new city for university and she feels so alone. That 27 year old guy over there works a job he is overqualified for, he lives with his parents and wants to move out but doesn't know what to do about it. That one 24 year old dude already has a car, a house, and a job waiting for him once he graduates thanks to his dad's connections. The 26 year old barista couldn't complete his higher education because he has to work and take care of his family. The 28 year old girl sitting next to you has no friends to go out with so she is texting her mother. That couple (both 25 years old) are married and the girl is pregnant. The 29 year old writing something on her laptop has realized that she chose the wrong major so she is trying to start all over. We are not alone in this, but we are actually so alone. Do you feel me
(She/her) Hullo! I post poetry. Sometimes. sometimes I just break bottles and suddenly there are letters @antagonistic-sunsetgirl for non-poetry
