6 Tips for Crossing the Road

Look both ways

The road is for cars.

Make sure to look for them before crossing. Even when you have the right of way, cars have a lot of safety features and you have none.

Use designated crosswalks

The road is for cars.

So is the crosswalk but, under brief and temporary conditions, you can use it too! Never jaywalk, never walk in the road, just hope there is a clear and functional sidewalk.

Cross at the light

The road is for cars.

There are rules and signs for them, but that can only go so far. Walk quickly and hold your breath and hope that the light doesn't turn. Make eye contact with drivers as their cars teem with potential energy, rumbling with disdain at the inconvenience of your crossing. Try to ignore the cloud of exhaust that you are in and they are above.

Leash your pets

The road is for cars.

Obviously.

To you, it may be natural to sacrifice so much space to them but to your dog, it is not. His instinct is to explore freely. You must curb it. Modern US car models have such high hoods that the average child, let alone dog, is obscured. Even on the sidewalk, hold the leash tight because the sidewalk (if you are so blessed) is next to the street and the threat still looms.

Look out for road kill

The road is for cars.

And no one was there to leash the deer.

Or the raccoon.

Or the cat.

Did you know that the most reliable sample method for wildlife in an area is looking at the roadkill?

Remember these tips

The road is for cars.

Cars are everywhere. In the city. In the suburbs. In the country. In the woods (the US Forest Service manages more roads than the entire Ministry of Transit in China.) Cars are everywhere because there are roads to bring them there, which is great if you are a car and want to get from place to place fast without worrying about the in-between.

Unfortunately, you are not a car.

You are an animal.

You are in-between.

So remember to look both ways.

So OPs intent here is to highlight biphobia and gate keeping, which I applaud. I do want to talk about this:

"straight-passing" includes 90% of queer people, unless you really know what youre looking for (hets dont), in which case "straight-passing" only includes about 60% of us instead.

Hello. I disagree with the wording here very much. There is no 90% or 60% of queers passing as straight, because your sexuality is not determined by how you look.

There is no "when you know what to look for". No "hets don't". You might get a feeling for when someone you're meeting might be queer, but can we PLEASE let go of this gatekeeping fuckery. Please don't put down heterosexuals in a side sentence for no reason.

Don't feel bound by how you think a queer person should look.

I know I did, and if someone had told me this when I was 14 it would have spared me a lot of insecurity.

shout-out to the person in the tag last night calling hbomb "straight-passing". what does that mean here? "white-passing" is a useful term because you can usually tell what race someone is visually. "straight-passing" includes 90% of queer people, unless you really know what youre looking for (hets dont), in which case "straight-passing" only includes about 60% of us instead. do you mean he can pass as het by not showing us any male partners? hes a youtuber. are all youtubers straight unless their partners (mandatory both male and female for bisexuals) show up in the background of their shots? or do you mean he never talks about it? because he does. repeatedly. in other videos.

you have 30 seconds to explain how the term "straight-passing" is useful when discussing whether or not hbombs claims are out of his lane before i shove the biphobia L into your hands

“Do it scared” but please realize that, if you Do It Scared too much and don’t let yourself rest + relax + have fun in between, you will fuck yourself up. If you “do it scared” all day every day, you will burn out badly and quickly. Sometimes this is temporarily necessary but please keep this in mind.

Oh my god I'm listening to California Dreamin' with headphones and. Did you know it's one of those songs that are hardcore spliced up between headphones. Like the female and male voices are mostly coming from seperate headphones.

This makes no difference except for a cool listening experience unless. Unless you take one headphone out.

Ohhh, there's still the faintest echo of the female voices in the male voices' headphone, but half the instruments are missing. It's haunting. It's majestic. It's Denny in a old rehearsal room. It's not really a designated space, it's the backroom of their bar. They jokingly used to call it the backstage area. It's wooden panels that were never glossy. It's Michelle and Cass on old stools with cheap cider. It's Denny alone. It's Denny's guitar, with John's handwriting on its side. It's an empty room that's not used to being empty. You know when rooms sound the most loud when there's supposed to be a hundred sounds and you know every one of them? You think you can hear it out of pure fate.

He can only play as many instruments as his hands can hold. But he plays them as well as ever. There's no tremble in his fingers. He can definitely hear Cass. He can almost see John. When he closes his eyes, he can believe they're through the door, in the bar. Hearing him play. Singing back to him.

California dreaming. On such a winter's day

Culture Shock

Guys, I am currently experiencing culture shock, in the city I live in since my birth.

Let me explain...

After my school burned down (again), I got a letter from an unknown source (though I believe it's from one of the Wayne Kids).

The Letter said that I had received a full scholarship, allowing me to visit Gotham Academy for my senior year.

My entire family was overjoyed, because that meant that we didn't have to look for a new school AND that i get a decent education (plus Gotham Academy doesn't look too bad on College Applications).

In the letter I was also invited to a visitation day (which was today) and let me tell you, that school is... it's something else.

It looks as if it's never been burned, they have non damaged and clean tables, PLANTS!!!, and MORE THAN ONE room full of Computers that aren't from 2002.

We also ate in their cafeteria, and y'all, it's edible food.

I am absolutely floored.

They also gave me my school-uniform and honestly, those are the nicest clothes I've ever owned.

(I mean I guess you can expect these things for the price tag. I mean I couldn't afford the books, let alone the tuition, so thank you whoever gave me the scholarship <3)

Anyway, I am excited for my first day of school.... tommorow?? (Damnit Gotham Academy is in a different school district, my twin brother got another 2 weeks of holidays(Im not gonna hear the end of it)).
