Today I told my friends to “beware the ides of March” and they didn’t know what that meant. And then I was like “Julius Caesar was stabbed today, isn’t that exciting” and they just looked at me and asked “How is that exciting” then I got called a nerd by the same two people who were yapping to me about pie day yesterday.
Screen rant and CBR have m the worst articles ever. They’ll say something like DC just confirmed Nightwing is actually a terrible leader and then their reasoning is something stupid like “He asked a team member to stay behind because she was emotionally compromised, meaning he doesn’t trust his teammates!” or Tim Drake was the weakest Robin and this comic confirms it! And the evidence is just Tim getting the flu or something.
adhd will get you thinking "i should make this doctors appointment" every day for 7 months and counting
"Who would say No?"-Roy on the chance to join the JLA
"He won't come."
Dick apparently would say "No." 😂
I love the HC where all the brothers are like "yeah, Dick is an idiot lol" but the moment someone says something bad about him, they jump to defend him with their lives... Even from himself, lol
Jason: Dick? Ah, yeah, he's stupid.
X: Ha! Yes, I bet he can't even add 2 + 2.
Jason: WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU? That guy was a mathlete, he won every damn contest he entered. Gotham Academy has a whole hall just for his trophies in different disciplines, both mental and physical skill. You wish you could be like that.
Tim: Sometimes I wish Nightwing would stop trusting people so much.
X hero: He's very naive, isn't he?
Tim: What??? No! The guy is a master manipulator, he knows every move you're going to make and he's three miles ahead of you. Whatever you do, he will know and be able to react accordingly in a second. He has more contingency plans than Batman! He is far from being naive!
Damian: You are too soft with them.
Dick: I am, aren't I? I guess I'm not at my best anymore.
Damian: Don't you dare say that again. You're one of the best fighters I know and you're the only person in the world I know who can do the stunts you do. You are literally the epitome of human fitness. Shut up. Don't look down on my Batman.
Duke just punched two people who were talking bad about Richie after he gave an interview on TV <3
im normal
Someone recommended me some good Dick Grayson angst! No batcest though pls.
I’m reading The New Teen Titans and I keep getting confused because I can’t stop reading H.I.V.E as HIV
my little pony autistic harvey is real from batman - teenage mutant ninja turtles adventures #1 if u even care
I dont think he wants help Bruce…
I’m not going to put this on the post itself, but I stared at this for like ten minutes wondering why it made my brain fritz before realizing it’s because it seems appropriate on the surface, but it’s kind of…the other way around?
Which is freaking weird given the general impressions these characters leave. If you were asked to sort them as the Emotion Boy and the Manly Man, the instinctive choice seems obvious. But their respective responses to negative emotions are, uh.
Jason comes back home screaming about how he was wronged while heavily armed.
Dick literally moves to another city/job/identity instead of talking to people. Other people are for talking about THEIR emotions! Because you’re a supportive leader/mentor/big brother figure! This is fine! *room catches on fire* This is fine!!!!
Jason: *fires a semiautomatic into the air* NOW THAT YOU HAVE LISTENED TO MY TWELVE POINT ESSAY ABOUT WHY I HAVE A GRUDGE AGAINST YOU, Jason: I will assign you three very specific tasks to get back in my good graces. Jason: They’re impossible. I hope you like ‘Scarborough Fair’.
Dick: *stops acting fine exactly long enough to start a fight with a scapegoat over something more justifiable than why he’s really upset, punches them until the fight artfully destroys his shirt, then goes back to repressing and working out the rage shakes on bank robbers*
(Sometimes he can cajole himself into asking for advice from dubious sources ((Bruce when he’s being written as emotionally inept; Deathstroke???; civilians with no information about his situation)), which is at least adjacent to talking about your feelings.)
In conclusion: Alfred: Do you ever want to talk about your emotions, Master Dick? Dick: No. But how are you doing, Alfred? You’ve looked tired recently. Jason: I do. Alfred: We know, Master Jason. Jason: I’m mad. Alfred, looking very tired indeed: We know, Master Jason.
Going to the Jason Todd tag is like. He wouldn't say that. He wouldn't do that. Bruce wouldn't do that. They would not be friends with Jason. He does not have that many scars. Dick never did that. Tim would not be caught dead saying that. That didn't happen.
PREACH PREACH PREACH 🙌🙌🙌
"Dick was an angry kid", "Dick was full of rage when he was Robin", "Jason was the happy Robin, not Dick"
Look at me in the eyes and explain to me how this sweet, playful, mischievous, kind and thoughtful kid is an angry child.
He was not an angry child. He does not deserve to be labelled as such.
You know what Dick Grayson was, though? He was a child with feelings. A kid that experienced all kind of emotions corresponding to the situation he was in.
I'm not telling you he was never angry and that he was always a happy-go-lucky kid. But is ridiculous how there's so much insistence on this idea that he was full of rage and his only mood was anger.
"But when his parents died-" When his parents died he was, above all, so fucking heartbroken. Yes, he was angry, because it wasn't fair. He shouldn't have lost everything in one night. He shouldn't have had to watch the bodies of the two persons he most loved in the world fall and break. He was just a kid. Of course he's going to feel anger after that. But that's not the only thing he felt. He was sad, too. And in spite of that tragedy, he could smile and feel some happiness as well.
Calling him an angry child is very insensitive, in my opinion. Is that how you call a child grieving his parents and processing loss?
Dick Grayson wasn't full of rage. He was full of life. He was full of the strength to keep going, of the love his parents left him, and of the pain of loss for a while. He was full of good and became someone who'd prevent more tragedies like his from happening. And there was anger, yes, but it was never what drove him to be Robin.
Bruce loving and supporting Dick hours
I like to imagine that in the villain world it’s considered suicidal to injure Nightwing.
Random villain #1: Yeah and then I shot Nightwing
Random villain #2: You shot Nightwing???
Random villain #1: Yeah, I got him pretty bad, might’ve killed him
Random Villain #2 *eyeing Batman, the Batfamily, Superman, half the Justice League and the Titans as they appear behind Random Villain #1 *: Uhh I had nothing to do with this
Do you guys ever truly think about how young Dick and Damian were as Robin? Like Jason and Tim were extremely young too but they were early teens late tweens. But Dick was 9 and Damian was 10, like they were still getting visits from the Tooth Fairy.
DC’s reasoning for breaking up Dick and Kory is painfully ironic if you stop to think about it. Obviously a big part of Dick is that he desperately wanted to get out of Bruce’s shadow and become his own hero. Basically what happened is they realized they did too good of a job of bringing Dick Grayson out of Batman’s shadow that people were associating him with the titans more than they did with Batman and the Batman writers hated it. So they broke them up and put Dick with Batgirl. This is crazy considering a huge part of Dick’s character is getting out of Batman’s shadow.
They were super popular too. The only comic couple outselling them was Peter and MJ.
Begging someone either make an animatic or edit of Bruce and Dick to Slipping Through My Fingers by ABBA.
Tim: Can you imagine the food they eat in jail? Bleh!
Dick: Don't need to imagine, it's disgusting.
Jason: When did you try prison food?!
Dick: When I was 8.
Tim, scoffing: If you commited a crime I'm pretty sure there'd be hundreds of articles about it, I didn't see any when I was researching you.
Dick: Oh! I didn't commit a crime.
Jason: Why the fuck would you be in Juvie if you didn't commit a crime?
Dick: Orphanages were full.
Everyone:
Jason: The hell?
Tim: I'm calling a lawyer, that has to be illegal.
Damian, in the vent: I can't believe this city's incompetence.
Dick: I can. Now get down here.
Damian: Fine.
Saw someone on TikTok say that Dick was awful because he didn’t go to Jason’s funeral.
Dick was off world when Jason died, by the time he got back Bruce had already held Jason’s funeral.
Daphne and Dick definitely meet up to talk shit and gossip.
Gotham twitter AU can be canon IF and ONLY IF you accept 1. Scooby Doo exists, and 2. Robin and Daphne hang.
Hi! I’m Quinn and I have a goal to watch and rank every single DC animated movie! I’ve watch over 20 so far but I just started posting my thoughts on Tumblr. Because I’ve watched so many, I decided to just post about the ones I’m currently watching! But, if you see a movie on my list that you want me to cover, just leave a comment or something or ask in my inbox!
Anywho:
In my quest to watch all the DC animated movies, my next watch was Batman Vs Robin!
Spoilers!!!!
I liked this movie a lot more than I thought I would. I wasn’t the biggest Damian Wayne fan coming into this movie but honestly? This movie gave me more appreciation for him. I was honestly shocked to find out most people felt differently. A lot of people on letterbox’d were saying their opinion on Damian didn’t shift much.
I think that Bruce’s attitude shift towards Damian lacked some build up, it was definitely there but I felt there could’ve been more. In the movie’s defense, it’s only 80 minutes and there’s a lot of plot to cover. This being said, I LOVED THEIR INTERACTIONS. Oh my gosh it was so cute. Like that’s literally his baby.
DC does better with the pacing in this movie than it does with others. The middle kinda straggles a bit but the last third of the movie is so good it’s honestly worth it.
I also want to take a moment to appreciate the fight scenes. God this movie had such epic fight scenes. Even the sparring match between Dick and Damian was peak. Watching Dick fight was especially fun because they really utilized his acrobatic skills!
A couple of other things I want to add, I did not like the soundtrack. A lot of the music felt out of place and almost like something you’d hear in a YouTube video.
There was one specific plot line that didn’t add up, Bruce had a girlfriend who ended up being part of the court of owls, and she was two timing Bruce with Talon. Long story short Talon killed her, we never got a reaction from Bruce because he never found out, but it did feel like the two of them dating did absolutely nothing for the plot. It didn’t add any emotional stake or any sense of betrayal because…he just never knew? Honestly she could’ve just not been a member of the court and the story would’ve more or less stayed the same. It felt like she was thrown in as a last minute plot twist.
This is real nitpicky of me, but I want to comment on Damian’s relationship with Talon. There were no hints that Talon was manipulating Damian other than Bruce outright saying “Damian, he’s manipulating you” which does the job but I think there could’ve been a few more subtle hints dropped.
This movie may not be the best technical wise or from a writing point of view, but it’s so fun I don’t even care. his movie is probably definitely in my top 5 so far!
My notes:
My current ranking:
My letterbox’d:
You can see my thoughts on Justice League: Throne of Atlantis here:
My next watch: Batman Bad Blood
they are verrrryyy important to me actually
Headcanon that one time Dick got so pissed off at Bruce that he anonymously told a reporter that Bruce Wayne had a crush on Batman but Batman rejected him.
How long is DC planning on pretending they’re not going to bring Alfred back. Like you guys never keep people dead, don’t start now. It’s been like 5 years
