I've been thinking about ToTK lately, and one thing consistently bothers me.
Why was Zelda the one to get the time powers? Link is clearly the one who's magic involves time. His past incarnations have traveled through time a whole heck of a lot, plus bullet time and flurry rush. It would fit perfectly in the story as well.
Link, in a fit of desperation to save Zelda, reaches to send her somewhere where Ganon isn't an issue, tapping into his own innate time power to send her all the way back to before Ganon got his secret stone. Zelda cannot simply travel back because she has no power over time. So, she remains in the past, does all the same things, because she does need to fix the master sword.
Meanwhile, Link gets recall not from any outside source, but from himself, with some coaching from Rauru on how to channel his magic through the arm. He sends the master sword back to let Zelda know he hasn't forgotten about her, but he can't send anything more. The story then proceeds as usual. Legit just the tiniest change but I feel like it would make so much more sense.
There are many things I would edit about tears of the kingdom, such as the fact that no one can seem to decide if they want the games to be within one universe or not, (like girlypop the Zonai are cool and all but they do NOT belong on the Zelda timeline,) and that the weird ancient sages being nobodies compared to the champions. But for some reason, this one thing is what sticks out in my mind as something I must fix.
Shouta couldn’t help himself, he blinked. And in that one, crucial moment, a demon tore its way into the world.
The being appeared from a tornado of brilliant blue fire, so bright it hurt Shouta’s eyes, roaring a deep, inhuman roar. Claws ripped through the flames, glinting in the firelight as bladed heels dug into the concrete. It had no face, just a mass of fire in the vague shape of eyes and a mouth on a smooth mask under a top hat. Inky black wings flared out from behind the creature, covering the moon and stars in complete darkness.
“YOU DARE HARM MY TRICKSTER?” The entity roared, towering over Shouta like a predator would its prey. Pure dark energy flowed from the thing’s claws, sucking the warmth from the air in an instant. Shouta felt an unnatural fear pierce his being, the kind that made him want to cower and hide and never come out. “BEGONE WITH YOU!”
First official art for A Transfer of Power, A Will of Rebellion! Scene taken from chapter 7, The First Infiltration
I didn't originally want to share stuff from this fic here on Tumblr, after all, this was more a Legend of Zelda/LU account. But then I started posting my Persona 3 Reload reactions and decided yeah, this is a 'whatever tf I want' account, Beyond The Mirror can be my Legend of Zelda account. So, here's what I've been working on lately! Art and writing for this one fanfiction. I'll figure out how to put images into ao3... Eventually. Maybe when I actually get some work done on the next chapter
Have the speedpaint!
Ok but how many times have we seen our local angst child *actually happy* I want this duo to be around forever if it means they both get to have fun like this.
Time: What does it look like..?
Idk how obvious this is but I have like, three scrapped beginnings of lbl. The sky arc I already posted all I had of it, but this was going to be the new beginning, focused around warriors, but of course, the story got too complicated and I decided to just scrap the whole thing. I figured there’s no reason to hide it anymore. It’s not canon to the story but I’m sure y’all will enjoy seeing it anyways :)
I ask this dude why he's not wearing a shirt and he calls me stupid and I think that's amazing dialogue. I probably should've asked something responsible like what their goals were but when faced with the option to finally get an answer as to why this dude is letting his nipples out constantly regardless of temperature I just had to take it. I didn't even get a straight answer it's incredible.
If Cryptid Four is Enby, is Cryptid Shadow also Enby? Do all the colors identify as the same gender or do they identify differently? Apparently this is keeping me up at night
The colors are all their own people, and they do identify differently! Four, as we know them, is nonbinary. They use they/them pronouns. But the colors are different!
Red uses any/all (no gender, just vibes)
Blue uses he/she/they (gender fluid. They’ll tell you their preferred pronouns at any given time)
Vio uses he/they pronouns.
Green uses he/him.
Shadow uses he/him
Ryoji Mochizuki palace where it's not Tartarus but actually a Cathedral.
Everywhere you look, it's dedicated to the Great Seal. Stained glass windows made in their image line the walls, statues carved into a familiar teenager hung by chains. Their story is depicted like a religious text, with Ryoji himself as the devil. There to trick the seal into pursuing the full moon shadows, to lie his way into being the seal's friend, to tempt the Great Seal away from delivering salvation to the world. It does not matter that Ryoji was missing his memories, that he was doing whatever he could to help his dearest friend, he was always a monster. One that was unworthy of the Seal's forgiveness, of their mercy.
Ryoji's shadow can always be found crying in front of a depiction of the Great Seal. He begs for someone to please take their revenge, to punish him for what he's done, it's all his fault, he killed the Great Seal, they would still be alive if not for him. He cannot let you take his treasure, he cannot let you take away his guilt. When you fight Ryoji, he appears as a grotesque replica of the Nyx Avatar. There is no more elegance, no more ethereal beauty to be found in Nyx's Appraiser, he is simply a monster.
Ryoji's treasure is the protagonist's evoker. A representation of how they fought to save the world, and how they accepted death to do so. Ryoji could not accept that death, so he clung to it. He clung to their memory instead of facing them himself, because he felt too much guilt.
Name: Ryoji Mochizuki
Location: Gekkoukan High School's rooftop
Distortion: Cathedral of Grief
Bird. My man *loves* corvids, not necessarily for like a pet because honestly I don't think he could really deal with a pet but still! If he did get to a point where he could healthily care for a pet I think it would be some kind of bird. Maybe before Morgana he would've been a cat person but after? Screw both cats and dogs the only things that understand me are the crows.
this is important. do we think goro akechi is more of a cat or dog person... or something else entirely
I've been doing a lot of sketching of this specific character, trying to get a design I like. Idk if I'm quite happy yet, but have some more Link
A couple I doodles I made for my fic What Happens When A Detective, A Mass Murderer, An Assassin and A Thief Time Travel?
Some very important additions, I had no idea that conversation with Pharos existed but I actually adore it and think they really should've had Pharos interact with more of the main cast actually, he's such a little guy™
I need more people to write Aigis and Ryoji as friends, post-game or in some canon divergence au. They are made to be opposing forces, to clash for the fate of the world, but the purpose designated for them by their creators is not the purpose they chose to follow. They become friends in both because and in spite of what they are, because who would better understand their struggles? Neither is truly human, but they are both people. People who doubt their own humanity. They validate each other's struggles in a way no one else could, before affirming that yes, you are a person, you worked so very hard to be a person and I recognize that struggle and say that it is ok if you don't understand all the nuances of humanity right away, I won't judge you, because I am the exact same way.
Yes, Aigis initially saw Ryoji as dangerous, and he was, but I want them to grow past that. I want them to be able to look back at their first clash and think about how much they've grown since then. I want them to tell each other that the fact that they feel remorse for the lives lost is a clear sign of their newfound empathy for others, and that yes it's difficult, grappling with those feelings, but they should face them head on for the sake of those lost lives. I want them to come to see the other as one of their closest friends, the one they can turn to whenever they need.
Aigis and Ryoji should be friends, because they chose to be more than the enemies they were when they first met.
