Extra notes on TOTK about things I don't quite like and I need to fix because that game has wonderful ideas and mechanics but the story just needed an extra pass or 2.
The sages, WHO WERE THEY? Like, I genuinely cannot understand what each one was supposed to be going for. They have 0 character, at all. And every time we see their cutscene it's just Zelda saying the same thing four times. We know Zelda, Rauru, & Mineru (though Mineru is kinda bland, like we see more of them but what we see is all just plot moving forward. Mineru feels a bit more like a prop than a character is what I'm saying.) The 4 sages for each region? I can guess nothing about them.
So, I want to make one small change. Instead of each cutscene being when Zelda asks for help, it's a moment of Zelda and the Sage, like, bonding. Doing something together as Sages. Maybe Zelda would put together something of a paraglider and go scouting with the rito sage. Maybe she would mess with Zonai tech and blow stuff up with the goron sage. And if seeing Zelda directly ask for help is so important, they could show it at the end. Otherwise the message at the end would be, "I wanted to help save her time, but now I cannot do that. So please accept my secret stone and save Hyrule in my stead."
Just a little, tiny mention of why Sheikah tech isn't around (and perhaps a junkyard of it) would be very nice. I would say the shrines and towers probably sunk back into the ground once the champion beat calamity Ganon, since they no longer served a purpose. The guardians were all demolished, too many painful memories for Hyrule to move forward with them still around. The Sheikah slate was reconfigured into the purah pad. Basically, don't remove a core piece of the world you established in the last game without some explanation.
Fix up the weird scrambled timeline of the fake puppet Zelda. Like, we know from the dragon's tears that this isn't Zelda, so just edit NPC dialogue after the last dragon tear. They're still chasing after this puppet Zelda cause guess what, it's actively hurting people! So they gotta stop it.
Lastly, bring back gerudo vai set I will not REST until that set has RETURNED sure we have frostbite armor but COME ON it was in the previous game it would not be that hard.
Shouta couldn’t help himself, he blinked. And in that one, crucial moment, a demon tore its way into the world.
The being appeared from a tornado of brilliant blue fire, so bright it hurt Shouta’s eyes, roaring a deep, inhuman roar. Claws ripped through the flames, glinting in the firelight as bladed heels dug into the concrete. It had no face, just a mass of fire in the vague shape of eyes and a mouth on a smooth mask under a top hat. Inky black wings flared out from behind the creature, covering the moon and stars in complete darkness.
“YOU DARE HARM MY TRICKSTER?” The entity roared, towering over Shouta like a predator would its prey. Pure dark energy flowed from the thing’s claws, sucking the warmth from the air in an instant. Shouta felt an unnatural fear pierce his being, the kind that made him want to cower and hide and never come out. “BEGONE WITH YOU!”
First official art for A Transfer of Power, A Will of Rebellion! Scene taken from chapter 7, The First Infiltration
I didn't originally want to share stuff from this fic here on Tumblr, after all, this was more a Legend of Zelda/LU account. But then I started posting my Persona 3 Reload reactions and decided yeah, this is a 'whatever tf I want' account, Beyond The Mirror can be my Legend of Zelda account. So, here's what I've been working on lately! Art and writing for this one fanfiction. I'll figure out how to put images into ao3... Eventually. Maybe when I actually get some work done on the next chapter
Have the speedpaint!
2 genres of fanfiction:
1) put that guy into situations
2) take that guy OUT of situations for the love of GOD let them REST
I've been doing a lot of sketching of this specific character, trying to get a design I like. Idk if I'm quite happy yet, but have some more Link
My experience with writing a multi-chapter fic:
I intend to write a few chapters ahead of time, starting out with 3 chapters prewritten and having an outline for maybe the next 5 after that, then the next arc outlined as well.
Instead of that though, I forgo any sense of a schedule by chapter 5 and while the outlines are still a thing, there is no hope for any chapters. I post them as soon as they've been beta read if that's even a thing that's going to happen. And then, instead of trying to get back on track with the schedule, I continue to write vague outlines of future chapters.
Honestly though I don't think I could make a whole draft and not post any of it, half my motivation comes from the external praise I get whenever a chapter goes up. Which, yeah, probably isn't the best mentality but it keeps me motivated, which is really freaking hard.
based a comment I saw from someone:
Y'all ever find a comic that you think is pretty dang good and you enjoy a decent amount so you follow the account that's posting it and still the comic is good but the person making it is,, just kinda an asshole?
Like not even a bad person they're just kinda condescending or rude or smth when perhaps answering asks or talking about their comic on its tag and you really don't think that's worth abandoning their generally pretty good work for but it just kinda sours you to the whole thing? And you can understand why they would say something so rude/condescending because making a comic and dealing with people being kinda dumb is stressful but it still makes the comic itself feel.. blehh.
That's happened to me at least 5 times now, it's a strange phenomenon.
Prayers of the Moon
Adult Ryoji because he deserves to grow up but also I punted all my headcanons onto him
Ryoji ends up becoming a photographer after high school. I imagine he'd really enjoy photography actually, preserving special moments for people to remember. He's actually really good at getting people to genuinely smile too, so being a photographer would be perfect for him.
He also runs a moderately successful blog to share his photos (he uses way too many emojis.) The blog's fans are mostly people who think he's hot (I know I'm not good at making attractive characters but I'm doing my best) even though only like, 15% of the blog's content includes photos of himself. Still, he has fun with his blog, and likes to travel around a lot to see new places and meet new people. That's what the other 85% of the blog's content is, photos of places he's been. Not necessarily tourist destinations, though he definitely adores those, just places he thinks are beautiful. A nice sunset, or a peaceful view. Ryoji loves just.. preserving those moments.
He's a bit of a fashion disaster honestly, wears the loudest, brightest colors unless someone (usually Makoto or, if she's around, Yukari) tells him to go change into something more sensible. The scarf is a staple in every outfit though, he wouldn't be himself without it.
And finally, of course he still flirts with pretty much everyone. The only thing growing up did was help him learn to read the room, but even then he's kind of a menace.
Ok Wild's also given me some trouble because I could not for the life of me find a way to make her original. Like, BOTW/TOTK Link is already very original compared to other links, so changing their design feels kinda unnecessary. I tried to put em in a different outfit, but then I realized the botw/totk outfits are stupidly complex!! I just ended up hoping the metal arm is enough to make Beyond the Mirror wild stand out.

The slayer of Calamity Ganon and the Demon Dragon, Wild's taken down his fair share of giant, malicious monsters. He's a bit of a free spirit, wanting to know absolutely everything about the land he first woke up in. As Zelda would say, Wild's got the spirit of a scientist, and they're more than happy to join in a quest that'll let them explore a completely new land.
Oh yeah so it turns out working a job while still living with your parents, specifically when one of your parents works the exact same job, fucking sucks. Like, I told my workplace I couldn't do 6 am shifts, they scheduled me for a 6 am shift. I would honestly just skip the shift as a 'fuck you I set my boundaries' but they can literally call my parents on me. I am currently staying up late and eating unhealthy food in hopes that when morning comes I will be deemed too sick to work this fucking shift.
Honestly I would rather be fired than work for a place that doesn't respect my boundaries with shifts but again, parents. This job is hell and I hate it and I hate working for a corporation that treats me like a robot.
Plus, for Storm, my LU OC, they'd end up a cat. Very snarky, very cat. Because I will never give up on self inserts because I don't care if it's cringe.
My headcanons for what each link would become when exposed to the shard of twilight/to the dark world and why.
Skyward sword Link (sky): straight up puppy. He's a very friendly, sociable, and loyal Link. Maybe more like a golden retriever
Minish cap Link (minish): Mouse! Very tiny mouse. I think he's generally pretty shy, cautious, so a small rodent would make a lot of sense.
Ocarina of Time/Majora's mask (time): Canon wolf.
ALTTP, Oracles, & Link's awakening (legend): Canon bunny
LoZ I and II (Hyrule): I don't really know em that much but I think dog, maybe even Retriever, like Sky. Mostly based off LU.
Twilight princess (twilight): canon wolf
Four swords adventures: Rats! Since they're very social, could split into a rat pack. Rats can have a very wide range of personalities, like most other pets, but I think they fit Shadow Link a bit more, so by default I go rat.
Wind waker & phantom hourglass(wind): Frog, because I want them to be able to handle both land and water.
Spirit tracks: I got no clue I never played that.
Hyrule warriors (warriors): cat. Very pretty, very opinionated. Will tell you if you're annoying them.
Age of Calamity (Champion, different from post-memory wipe Link): A dog. But now, a very specifically trained dog, like a German shepherd.
Breath of the wild & tears of the kingdom: They're a blupee. If you'd prefer a real animal, a mischievous little rat. But I prefer blupee because he is very much a little blue guy that runs around the forest
