Things that Happen in the Death Note Manga (mostly matsuda-related)

-ryuk tells light to get him a gameboy

-matsuda has stubble for two panels

-matsuda is canonically established as a nepotism hire

-in order to save light and sayu's lives matsuda tells mello he's the second L. mello believes this

-light yagami kills the president of the united states

-light says he'll wear a corset

-light plans for matsuda to be the one to make the eye deal for the police, which would mean light was planning to kill him 13 days later. this makes matsuda shooting him in the finale way better and also way funnier

-lidner tells mello that near thinks the second L is kira. so mello thinks matsuda is L AND kira. i find this extremely funny

-light and misa sleep in fuckin. separate twin beds pushed side by side

-conference call between mello, the entire task force, and the entire spk where mapping out who knows who's on the line would take five fucking venn diagrams

-matsuda tells ide he gets no bitches. this happens a lot

-ide is INCREDIBLY asexual

-mikami turns on light and calls him "scum." get his ass

-there is no heaven or hell in the death note universe. all humans go to nothingness

-ryuk kills light in front of everybody

-light doesn't see L as he dies, which furthers the theory that the animators had An Agenda

-chapter 108 makes an insane amount of sense if you read it under the assumption that matsuda had feelings for light

For fun Light decides to freak everyone out by not wanting attention, not looking absolutely perfect, being careless, etc. Everyone would freak the fuck out, it is chaos, they are thinking of calling a life line helicopter, etc.

maybe if I keep telling the story, it will never have to end. that way I can keep you alive. If the story lasts forever, so will you. yes, you die in the end. yes I am the only one who remembers. yes I am the only one who knows. But if I never say it aloud, maybe you won't die. maybe this time orpheus won't turn around. maybe peter won't deny him. maybe when I reach the end, you will have had time to come up with a clever solution and escape. maybe this time we survive it together. and the next time, you can tell this story with me. maybe everyone survives and we don't have to tell the story at all. maybe they don't. if I never finish, I'll never have to know. let me speak for a little bit longer. let me live in a world that you are also in for just a moment more. sometimes your memory feels like a noose.
