“It’s really simple, I don’t know why I have to keep explaining this. Now we get the benefits of any other married couple when I do our taxes, which is especially helpful considering Kaveh lives in my house free of charge. We can have the marriage annulled, or legally separate when our current living arrangements change.”
Or: Al-Haitham is bad at feelings and Kaveh is suffering, the fic.

He thought of the mornings where he rolled over to find the warmth of another body laying next to him, and when there was just an inch between them and Kaveh was allowed to look all he wanted and touch all he wanted and stare into Al-Haitham’s beautiful dumb eyes as long as he wanted and how he was allowed to press their mouths together until the dark of the room gave way to the sunlight.
It was fucking embarrassing.
“Why are you blushing?” Tighnari looked mildly disgusted. “Are you thinking about your wild and crazy sex?”
Kaveh’s face flamed. “No, what the fuck? I was thinking about wholesome things like–” Grocery shopping and cuddling and wholesome, disgusting, sappy things. “No, actually. You don’t get to know. But I wouldn’t be thinking about that in public. Besides, we haven’t even–” He clamped his mouth shut.
Cyno’s eyebrows climbed all the way to the roof of his forehead. “Huh?”

Red Threads of Fate
When little, Alhaitham wondered why all the people make such fuss about those "red strings". Only his grandmother seemd to be resonable about them. She told him about a few books he could read, if he's interested, if not then there's really no need to care about so called "threads of fate".
One time, when he felt bored, he red those books. This way he found out the concept has it roots in liyuenian history and was found to be true not so long ago. Basically two (rarely more) people who are connected by such red string are meant to be with each other. To Alhaitham it seems way to cheesy to be true, so he tried to further his reserch.
However he ended up empty handed as there were no officially confirmed records of broken marriages nor damaged threads. This left him unsatisfied, causing to push all of the gathered informations into some far part of his memory.
Until one day, not long after he enrolled into the Akademiya for good.
He was reading one of textbooks at the House of Daena, distanced from fellow Haravatat schoolars, when a sunflower blonde from Kshahrewar spoke to him. At this very moment he felt something tightening on his pinky. He paid it no mind as the senior's voice reached his ears.
It was only after two hours of heated argument with Kaveh (the sunflower Kshahrewar), who had to leave for his classes, Alhaitham noticed a red string on his finger and smiled – because its other end was on Kaveh's pinky, boy's who entertained him like no one else. He had his own beliefs which he was fighting for and wasn't easily changing his mind just to make others like him. Maybe he was a bit too much of an idealist but Alhaitham was deeply interested in him and their relation.
With time they grew closer and it was quite... funny to experiene the thread thingy.
Until other day when both of them got fed up with own reflection. Kaveh torn up his part of their thesis in front of Alhaitham, screaming he regrets befriending him. The latter crossed out his own name from the papers as soon as he got back to his room, accompanying burning feeling on his pinky.
Maybe the red strings can be destroyed – Alhaitham thought for some time.
But no. Despite the pain it was causing, it stayed strong. True, it was very tangled and tense, yet it remained on his finger and as years passed he got used to its useless existance, living his life ignoring the fate.
Until one day, when he couldn't help but follow the string into the Lambad's, taking a sit next to sulking sunflower. This evening his house became a home as Kaveh moved in.
Their thread was messed up, however definitely not fragile. Realising that Alhaitham promised himself that someday their thread will be beautiful, nearly as beautiful as those crimson eyes he get to look at every day.
(A/N) Hello, Thea's here, also known as @imsleepingwitch
I decided to start posting here as well as I have some ideas which I personally think are too short for ao3. Truth be told I had a long break from writing, still I'm not doing it "regularly" so I hope you can forgive me.
And I think that's all.
Take care,
Thea🫶
Alhaitham visits his regular viewpoint for morning coffee, however is surprised upon realizing it is already occupied by someone...
in short, this is a fluff KaveTham one shot. gosh I love these two idiots with my whole heart, I want to cry. Have a nice time reading this, loves!! take care of yourself, don't forget to drink enough water, and have an amazing day <3
The sun rose above the green peaks of Sumeru City. It was truly a sight to behold. Dancing in golden rays, the landscape seemed magical, as if from a fairytale. In fact, I’d say that not a soul would be able to resist admiring such a view in front of their eyes, which brings us to the situation at hand.
Alhaitham had already brewed his usual morning coffee, taken the cup with him, and navigated to his favorite location near his quarters. It was a lovely terrace, placed high above the ground. Sumeu’s peaks seemed to dance in unison upon glancing from it. It was a marvelous place which, of course, a big amount of people pass daily. However on such early mornings, it tended to be more of a secluded, empty space, where you could truly enjoy your time without anyone bothering you. Or so Alhaitham thought.
Upon arriving to his usual spot, The Scribe was greeted with a person, already standing where he usually stands, gazing upon the landscape. And frankly…Alhaitham didn’t know how to react. Part of him was extremely frustrated with this situation. But in the Scribes defense, who wouldn’t be? Taking the effort to wake up extremely early, simply to have some peace, make yourself a coffee in your favorite cup, bring it outdoors, just to have it snatched away right in front of you? That does not sound like too comforting a scenario. However, another part of him was amused. It was silly, really. Someone was standing exactly in his usual spot, at a time when he usually does, gazing upon the view, just as he usually does. It was hilarious to Alhaitham for some reason, although some might argue that his sense of humor is…questionable.
After a quick few steps towards the place where The Scribe usually has his morning coffee, he realized who this person was. None other than The Light of Kshahrewar. His hands were placed on the railing of the terrace, chin resting upon one of them. The Sunrise had just started painting it’s hues in the sky, right in front of the view, and warm light danced upon Kaveh’s hair. It covered the latter in gold, which, truthfully, made the spot thief look a little bit too dazzling, at least to Alhaitham.
“Kaveh? How come you’re up so early? And may I ask, what exactly are you doing specifically on my favorite spot?” - Alhaitham truly didn’t wish to come off as cold as he did, and truth be told, Kaveh knew that.
“Oh, hi Haitham. Good morning to you too” - the blonde's tone sounded untainted with hatred, or any negative emotion for that matter. It was simply casual.
“Apologies, good morning, of course”
“It’s alright” - Kaveh responded, his tone warmer this time.
A few moments of silence were shared between the two who unexpectedly met. Alhaitham made a few steps forwards, and was now standing right near The Light of Kshahrewar
“Although still, pray tell, why are you up so early? You went to sleep quite late, if I’m not mistaken” - Alhaitham stated, after which he decided to finally sip on his coffee.
“Well, the reason I am up so early is that I…have not went to sleep through the night yet”
Upon hearing that phrase, The Scribe almost choked on his coffee, spitting it out, similarly to a fountain. Good thing that beforehand his gaze was focused on the landscape. Otherwise The Light of Kshahrewar might have his clothes covered in coffee at 5 in the morning, which isn’t a preferable scenario to both parties here.
“Excuse me, what? You have not gone to sleep yet?” - for once, Alhaitham’s tone was evidently laced with emotion. This time, the emotion was a mix of worry and disbelief.
“...come on, is that truly so difficult to believe?” - Kaveh asked.
“Well now that you say that, not really. However still…How are you not falling asleep on the spot?”
“I myself don’t know”
“Kaveh, why did you stay up?” “Well, the project I’m working on had it’s deadline pushed to an earlier date, so it’s necessary to compromise in this situation. I will be able to sleep properly after it is finished. One or two all nighters won’t hurt” - the blonde responded. However it seemed he was rather attempting to assure himself of these things, rather than Alhaitham.
A few moment of silence passed by, after which Kaveh decided to glance upon Alhaitham. After all, who wouldn’t be at least a bit perplexed from getting no reaction from the person you are conversing with. Kaveh was met with The Scribe frowning. However it wasn’t a scowl, or a disappointed expression. It was simply a frown. A frown of worry, rather than disappointment.
“Oh stop that, you know I always fix my sleep schedule after my projects” - Kaveh reassured the person beside him.
“That does not make me any less worried” - was all The Scribe could come up with.
A few more moments of silence passed.
“How come you chose this spot? …for all I know, the terrace to our right is much more impressive, architecturally speaking, and it has actual places to sit” - Alhaitham could not refrain from asking. You see, if you had asked him that question, the answer you would have gotten would be extremely specific.
After a moment of hesitation, Kaveh responded
“For the sunrise. I don’t come here to rest or to sit on a high terrace. I come here to watch sunrises and sunsets. They are not visible from the terraces nearby. And the reason for this specific spot…well, this spot is where the sun first shines it’s light in the morning. I like to think of it as a lucky spot”
Another moment of silence.
“How come you chose this spot, Haitham?” - the architect was now facing the person who joined him directly, observing their expressions and admiring how they looked, basking in the first sunlight of the day.
“I…I think…you and I are more similar than we tend to imagine, Kaveh” - The Scribe glanced back, warm smile playing on his expression, coffee already slightly forgotten.
A rare sight was painted in front of Kaveh this morning. This sight would probably be engraved in his heart for years and years to come. What he did not pause to consider at the moment, however, is that perhaps, the person beside him felt as dearly towards him, as he did to them. “Perhaps…” - the blonde thinks to himself - “...perhaps I should come to this spot more often”.
note: I am a firm believer that Kaveh and Alhaitham don't deserve to be painted as the two people who constantly hurt each other, because of their differences, and have unresolved conflicts all the time. of course those two bicker a lot, but come on, through many years, they have gotten to know each other thoroughly, in and out. although I am sure they have had their fair share of conflicts, THE AMOUNT OF KAVETHAM ANGST I'VE SEEN IS JUST INCREDIBLE. LIKE DAMN, WHO HURT YOU PEOPLE? anyhow, hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing this! <3

author's thoughts. hello dear <3333 i really needed a shorter request to write bc all of my other requests are a bit more lengthy and i'm in just a little bit of a burnout state so i am delighted by this request. i love my adoptive dad kaveh series...... i also realize now that i don't really talk too much about alhaitham and his relationship with [name] compared to how often i talk about tighnari and kaveh's relationship with them. also cyno???? i have neglected him too??????
at first, alhaitham wasn't keen on bonding with kaveh's adopted child; a child would only disrupt the comfortable life he has both built for himself and worked so hard to maintain. of course... he ended up being wrong. terribly wrong.
all throughout [name]'s first few months of being integrated into their new family in sumeru, they don't spend much time—if any at all—in kaveh and alhaitham's shared house. most of their time is spend in gandharva ville or in sumeru city, the latter being either on the weekends with kaveh or throughout the week with tighnari (if he happens to need something from the city and decides to let them tag along). given this fact, it's not at all a surprise that they didn't really know much of alhaitham, aside from the casual mentions of him from their other sumeru family members.
later on, as kaveh slowly grows into the vacant father role in their life, filling the empty space, they start spending weekends at his house... which is really the scribe's house, but at the time, that detail meant nothing to them. alhaitham never bothers to correct them, either. it doesn't really matter.
sometimes kaveh has to run errands and doesn't want to take them out in the glaring midday sun; they didn't grow up in sumeru, and they're already having a hard time adjusting to the heat (not that he's any better at handling it), so he doesn't want to risk exposing them to the sun at the peak of the day. sometimes he has to go meet one of his clients for a consultation and can't take them with him. who knows? either way, kaveh always makes these trips as quick as possible. his weekends belong to no-one but his kid. his clients find his doting behavior very cute, thankfully, so he hardly ever takes long.
alhaitham is always home during these occurrences (kaveh forbids him from leaving, since he wouldn't so much as dream of leaving his child home alone at such a young and vulnerable age—not that the scribe would leave them home alone, but still). naturally, this led to unavoidable meetings.
alhaitham quickly picked up on the many odd behavioral patterns kaveh's child displayed.
they were quiet—with him, at least. they were happy and expressive like most other children their age with kaveh or tighnari or collei, but with him? they never said a word, only speaking when spoken to, quietly shuffling around the house without so much as a peep... but more importantly, he sure as hell noticed the way they'd peek around the wall and shyly watch him as he read. they never got closer than that, though, and they'd run off if they realized he had seen them. based on this, he simply came to the conclusion that they were shy.
...or anxious, he supposes, but there is a vast difference between anxiety and shyness, and what he sees in them is not necessarily anxiety.
eventually, he does get sick of it. it's not like he worried about coming off as intimidating, no. it's just that if [name] maintains a poor image of him, it would eventually be an inconvenience for him. yes, yes, that was all. he just needed to kill a potentially dangerous rumor at its source before it got vastly out of hand. that's all.
"come here."
the way he sounds when he beckons them over is admittedly a little harsher than what he meant to be, so he's very much glad that they still do come over to him, timidly fidgeting with their sleeves.
"since you seem so interested... sit down, i'll read to you."
"h— huh? really?"
"hurry up before i change my mind."
as alhaitham reads to them, he points out words they may not understand and explains what they mean, also going as far as to help them pronounce some words that they mentioned having trouble with back at gandharva ville.
"oh... tighnari showed me that word, but i can't get it right."
they also can't pronounce tighnari's name correctly, which makes alhaitham's lips quirk upwards ever so slightly.
"here... i'll show you. which word is it that you're having trouble with?"
though it is something of a tutoring session, alhaitham finds that there's something... calming about it. he doesn't bother moving them away as they gradually get closer, only adjusting to accommodate them.
he also doesn't say anything when their weight falls a little heavier on his chest.
...did they really feel safe enough to fall asleep, just like that? the thought makes a fond warmth spread in his chest. he has no intention of telling kaveh or anyone else, though.
kaveh comes home later to see his child curled up asleep in the scribe's arms.
(the second he points it out, which of course he does, alhaitham's cheeks flush a slight pink and he coughs, telling kaveh to come get his kid and claiming that they wouldn't leave him alone.
the architect has never rolled his eyes harder than he did at that.
alhaitham's newfound fondness is obvious, but kaveh decides to leave it alone for now.)
from then on, they are just as excited and bubbly when they see alhaitham as they are when they see any of their other family. he's even gotten accustomed to hoisting them up, balancing them on his hip, and just... carrying them around.
oh, and alhaitham has no idea where those hobby supplies came from. he's got no clue where those books on a hyper-specific topic that they mentioned offhandedly the other day came from. he has no clue. none in the slightest.
...
maybe alhaitham is a little soft for them. just a little.
please consider reblogging, it helps me out quite a lot!
kaveh and alhaitham are really nice characters and I like how their designs complement each other along with how they interact with the back story's and personality's
kaveh headcannons ig I'm think kaveh would sit\sleep in the most weirdest postions like full on preztel, he would also be the type to after a long day if lamb-bads was closed he would go home and just fall face flat on the couch to space out
" Kaveh had always been able to see the color of other’s spirits. Their aura, as he liked to call it. It was a useful tool in his pursuit of the arts, it allowed him to see the world as its own canvas, laying itself out before him in a delicate dance of harmonies and contrasts. Until Kaveh had seen a man completely devoid of an aura. " A story where Kaveh can see the color of souls and the tale of the ups and downs of his relationship with the man whose soul he struggles to see.
