Hmm

Okay so there are a lot of posts like *Marginalized females stop allying yourself with marginalized males they will be sexist like every other male!’ And it’s true- and I get it- but it also reminds me of our intersection problem. Like, okay, gay males are going to be sexist towards us anyway. Straight females will be homophobic. Black males will be sexist; white women will be racist. So if your alliances are entirely based on ‘who won’t enact violence on me for an unchangeable trait’ you’re kind of shit out of luck unless you’re already in a position of only one kind of marginalization. So you’ve gotta walk this line or ‘calling out inter community bigotry’ and ‘not getting labeled as the person causing problems by bringing up other groups. Even though you’re still part of those groups.

I feel sick

I'm on holiday at a mall and there's a family getting candyfloss, I don't know what religion they were but all the females, even the little girls (5 or 6) are fully veiled

And the little boys are eating candyfloss off sticks together and the youngest girl is crying and stamping her foot because she can't eat hers due to the veil and she has to take it home in a bag

Mind, I’m bi, but mono-sexuality isn’t this mystical impossible to understand thing unless you insist your experiences of the world are universal. It’s actually really easy to believe someone likes one thing and dislikes another even if you enjoy both things.

it somewhat irritates me when people talk about how "masculinity is encouraged in girls, but femininity is discouraged in boys."

yes, it is more socially acceptable for a woman to present in a masculine manner than for a man to dress/act femininely. but that is not the same as masculinity being encouraged. tomboys are tolerated as young girls- but once you've hit pre-teen/teenage years, the expectation is that you femme up and drop any masculine characteristics. masculinity in girls is allowed as a childhood phase, but it is by no means encouraged, especially as you begin to mature and enter adolescence. anyone who thinks that masculine women are treated favorably in society has never met an actually masculine woman

‘Why I never want babies’

An increasing number of South Korean women are choosing not to marry, not to have children, and not even to have relationships with men. With the lowest fertility rate in the world, the country’s population will start shrinking unless something changes.

“I have no plans to have children, ever,” says 24-year-old Jang Yun-hwa, as we chat in a hipsterish cafe in the middle of Seoul.

“I don’t want the physical pain of childbirth. And it would be detrimental to my career.”

Like many young adults in South Korea’s hyper-competitive job market, Yun-hwa, a web comic artist, has worked hard to get where she is and isn’t ready to let all that hard graft go to waste.

“Rather than be part of a family, I’d like to be independent and live alone and achieve my dreams,” she says.

When I put it to her that if she and her contemporaries don’t have children her country’s culture will die, she tells me that it’s time for the male-dominated culture to go.

“Must die,” she says, breaking into English. “Must die!”

hey um gyns did you hear? Yeagh. Post about 3 men helping with shopping cart?? Systemic misogyny GONE. systems of male control POOF. Men good always. Men amazing. Radfems should go outside and meet 3 shopping cart men who are so kind and cute. Then they'll change their evil Minds.

Dear god, I thought shitty modern art would stop at "banana taped to a wall" but now it's escalated to "keep three piglets caged in an art gallery and make them slowly starve to death in front of audiences".

they've been doing that sort of thing for a while, there was one maybe ten years ago where someone displayed a bunch of individual goldfish in powered blenders that the audience could choose to turn on or not

the thing about this sort of stuff though is that the audience response and the audience response TO the audience response is also part of the art, so "me beating your ass in an art gallery for liquifying a fish in front of me" is now a commentary on the the place of individual choice in a larger society.

also someone broke in and stole those piglets, which is an even funnier response, because now this art piece is a commentary on general human decency and there's nothing the artist can do about it

I have preestablished biases and beliefs about the world, I acknowledge that and am willing to adjust with new information shared.
