women’s bodies weren’t “made” to do anything, nature didn’t “intend” anything, no human action is “unnatural” and there is no inherent “purpose” to a human life
wishing everyone who said they didn’t vote harris because of her foreign policy a very kill yourself
I feel sick
I'm on holiday at a mall and there's a family getting candyfloss, I don't know what religion they were but all the females, even the little girls (5 or 6) are fully veiled
And the little boys are eating candyfloss off sticks together and the youngest girl is crying and stamping her foot because she can't eat hers due to the veil and she has to take it home in a bag
why can't i mock your religion lmao U literally think i'm going to hell
I mean, ‘all work is slavery under capitalism’ is REALLY compatible with ‘“sex work” is bad.’ Like, the obvious logical points would be ‘all work is coerced/slavery in a system where you have to work to eat and live -> coerced sex is rape -> ‘sex work’ is rape and should be abolished.’ It’s inconsistent to say, ‘all work is bad… Except for ‘sex work’. Without a really good reason why this is the one kind that’s not coercive.
i hate when i’m talking to a leftist about why i hate prostitution as a feminist and they hit me with the “all work is slavery under capitalism, you just have a moralistic view of sex” as if i’d disagree.
capitalism is literally antithetical to radical feminism, and i was socialist before i was a radical feminist.
also, why wouldn’t i have a moralistic view of sex? i have a moralistic view of everything; i think everything we do is political, and that includes the kind of sex we have and the rape we find socially acceptable. duh.
male civility is a facade.
(I haven’t even talked about the homophobia in this fucking thing-)
It GETS me that Whipping Girl is THE book people recommend me to understand Trans feminism and Trans Misogyny. In one breath it’ll bring up how the female body is treated as taboo to the point where the clitoris is viewed as a fucking myth and the next it’ll argue that no oppression happens on the basis of sex. It claims men oppress women because they’re just oh so scared to embrace femininity and if they were allowed to they would embrace women with open arms. It makes homophobic ‘I only see people’s inner essence in their eyes not their genitalia UwU anyone who cares about genitalia during sex is just shallow and phobic’ arguments. I would recommend it to Radfems because every crap tra argument you’ve had comes from this fucking book, but I don’t think it’d change anyone who isn’t already jumping on the concept that males are the biggest victims of patriarchy.
Huh, I hadn't thought of that the first time I read it but there is a pint there- Victor begins thinking that he'll create something beautiful and wonderful but after actually seeing Creature he experiences a massive depression event and abandons it. As much as he insists that he'd make a decent parent; that insistence comes from a place of arrogance and lack of foresight.
He brings Creature into a world that despises him. Creature is a brilliant mind, well read, he shows compassion towards the family he watches over, and helps without being asked, but the world offers Victor's child nothing but physical abuse and abandonment until he grows painfully resentful. There's the idea there that if Creature had any positive relationships, maybe everything here could have been avoided. On the anti-natalist end though, bringing Creature into this world is in and of itself an act of arrogant cruelty. How could he know what people are like and choose to create a child anyway.
Frankenstein feels like a very anti-natalist work. From the modern perspective of course. With the original context, the themes about the progression of science and the nature of humanity still stand
Actually might as well say it, hate DNI and Trigger Warning culture all you like. I won’t pretend block and stay safe bullshit doesn’t close people’s minds off from dissenting viewpoints- it does. But that aspect of Tumblr was the first time I was told that what I wanted mattered more than what other people wanted from me. And honestly if Tumblr didn’t have a culture of ‘get the off of my blog if you’re a heel’ than I think I’d have a harder time with radical consent as a belief. ‘It doesn’t matter how nice you are, it doesn’t matter how much it makes you sad, you aren’t owed my mind, space, body or time.’ Isn’t something society tells people enough (and in fact female socialization encourages openness over boundaries to their detriment.)
“false allegations make it harder for real victims to come forward” aka “if a few women lie then that damages the credibility of every single woman and girl on the planet but millions and millions of men all over the world can actually rape, abuse and even kill women and girls and that shouldn’t damage the credibility or reputation of any man”
I have preestablished biases and beliefs about the world, I acknowledge that and am willing to adjust with new information shared.
