It’s kind of tragic how feminism that seeks to placate males is like ‘maybe if I was nicer to him he wouldn’t hit me, it’s kind of my fault really.’ But about an entire portion of the population.
A U.S.-born citizen was arrested in Florida on Wednesday and charged with illegally entering the state as an “unauthorized alien.” Twenty-year-old Juan Carlos Lopez-Gomez was detained for a day at the request of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, despite his mother producing his birth certificate and Social Security card at a court hearing.
Leon County Judge LaShawn Riggans inspected the birth certificate during a court hearing on Thursday, confirmed it was “an authentic document,” and said she found no probable cause for the charge, the Florida Phoenix reported. But a state prosecutor said that because ICE had asked the local jail to hold Lopez-Gomez, the court did not have the authority to grant his release.

to keep it simple, i don't think any abuser deserves the privilege of being able to go "but im sorry!!" and be forgiven by the internet for what they did. i dont think any victim should have to see their abuser be put on a pedestal. only victims can forgive our abusers. and we do not have to
Can’t reblog the post going round containing these two screenshots:
So I’ll put my addition here:
This also applies to women who complain about feminism requiring them to work, rather than being ‘ladies of leisure’. Women equivalent to them in the past always worked - who do they think were the maids, housekeepers, cooks, nannies, wet nurses, governesses, washerwomen, spinners, weavers, seamstresses, nurses, midwives, etc - and today’s equivalent of the past’s ladies of leisure can afford to be ladies of leisure now. Feminism fought for women’s work to be acknowledged, valued, and fairly paid, and that fight is still ongoing.
women can’t make satirical pieces without every self important loser insisting every word is sincere ignorance or simply going “not funny (would be funnier if it were a man)”. even among progressives it’s weirdly common to think women are not intelligent or funny enough to do satire or even just a bit with deadpan delivery
If you ever see me writing something like this, know my body has been snatched.
You know what’s funny about that “‘masculinity is universally praised’ erm have you ever spoken to a butch woman?” Post? I don’t think a Radfem’s said that kind of shit- because it is stupid and does ignore the lived experience of gender nonconforming females to focus on theory. You know what did say that though? Whipping girl the Trans feminism book because it’s focus is on liberating femininity and most of it reads as terminally online despite being written in 2007
The comic plays with the idea of 'a wolf in sheep's clothing (An aesop fable about how sometimes people who may look nice might actually intend to deceive and hurt you) for comedic effect. Like in the original story, the wolf enters the flock with the intent to eat the sheep and bring it's kills back to the pack. 'he he he they don't know I'm really a wolf.' In the second and third panel though, the sheep are open and friendly to the wolf, complimenting it and offering to dance and graze in the meadow and the wolf is charmed by them. The punchline is in the third panel where it's revealed that the wolf was so charmed it abandoned it's pack entirely to pretend to be a sheep forever, subverting the original story.
I don’t go on Facebook very often, and when I do it usually doesn’t recommend me anything, but WOWZERS. feels like we’ve come full circle in the “almost getting the point but not really”
I want a wife by Judy Brady really is a summary of why the patriarchy continues to exist. If your capable of never thinking of what the other person might want, if you’re able to dehumanize them enough to never consider that they exist in their own right… Who wouldn’t want a sex mommy who does everything for you and is always pleasant. That’s fundamentally why I don’t think males can escape the patriarchy merely by embracing their own femininity. If the choice is between ‘sometimes people make fun of you if you act a certain way… But you get the (often unhappy but never unpleasant) sex mommy I mentioned earlier’ or ‘You can cry or wear a purse, be as feminine as you want but female people have rights and most of them won’t want to be your sex mommy and will might even require you to help them while they work.’ The only reason to pick the latter is if you actually see female people as human and her wants and needs as equal value to your own (or if you’re not attracted to females, that can build a bridge of empathy but well. Sometimes it’s just a continued expectation of labor except without the sex. Sometimes they still believe in male supremacy but see us as lacking value altogether.) So much of regressive politics around female people are built around this deal it’s kind of ridiculous when people act like it doesn’t exist.
I have preestablished biases and beliefs about the world, I acknowledge that and am willing to adjust with new information shared.
