the pipeline from fucked up family to polyamorous incestuous fucked up family was.. certainly a choice in the 3rd episode
moments like this I just feel like I pulled the short stick at birth
Do you know why there are no male oral contraceptives? You guessed it right! Side-effects. But do you know what these side effects are? Headache, acne, weight gain, fatigue.
Now, do you know about the side effects of female oral contraceptives? All of the above plus severe abdominal pain, chest pain, swelling and aching of legs and thighs, and even eye problems. And these are just short term problems. The long term effects include cardiovascular problems, higher chances of breast and ovarian cancer, hypertension and blood clot.
Take a guess on which one was discontinued? Obviously the male one because how could they suffer? Why would they suffer when it's the woman who'll have to suffer for 9 months if she gets pregnant. Why would they suffer when they have the option to just.. leave without any repercussions? Now that's a topic for some other day but did you notice how the suffering of women have been disregarded for so long? How no one cares about what a women goes through as long the the pain doesn't befalls on them?
One of the most beautiful parts of Fleabag to me is that we have no concrete knowledge of Fleabag’s mom. Her mother is never once shown in the show because she dies before it starts, but she is brought up constantly. A large reason why Fleabag behaves the way she does is because she does not have her mom around anymore. But we don’t know if she is a good mom or a bad mom. We have no knowledge on how their relationship was, except for the fact that without her mom Fleabag does not understand how to navigate the world. And I love it because it raises the question does it matter?
I think regardless of our relationship, I’d also feel completely lost and out of place in the world without my mom. I also think the majority of people who have any sort of relationship with their mom would feel this way. Regardless if it’s bad or good.
So yeah it doesn’t matter how Fleabag and her mom’s relationship was. It could have been amazing. It could have been terrible. But at the end of the day, there is a part of Fleabag which is gone now that her mother is gone. I think the majority of us would feel the same in her shoes too.
we open the episode with You're My Best Friend by Queen and witness crowley coming back a 3rd. THIRD. time to ask aziraphale to escape together(honestly for someone this emotionally closed, Aziraphale is astonishingly good at making Crowley a desperate dog,a puppy disaster if you will :)
the lyrics that follows might indicate him asking for forgiveness after speaking this sentence
or we can think that aziraphale never took offense(and that crowley knew that) bc well cause he isn't pretty believable when he's angry with azi💀 and throws tantrums like a 3 year old.this makes us think he might be waiting for an apology from aziraphale for making him act the way he has, for making him miserable for the past few days
I do not think I have a pen that is worth finishing for but I'll try
I will try for all the other times I hadn't had the courage to
I will pour all of my rain flow into this soup that's not quite made of mind but neither of heart too
I will try to save this little kid even though I'm not sure if they ever drowned or not in the overflowing pond I left them
not interested in getting involved in the rest of this discussion, for the most part, but to me this is a GREAT piece of advice that many people these days don't seem to be getting or understanding.
not everyone you meet or interact with is your friend, the requirements and expectations for respectful behaviour between friends is not the same as between strangers.
and it's even worse when they pride themselves of being "slave free". it is teached in school that ottomans didn't took slaves then just describe "cariye" to you which is a woman you stole from her motherland when you lay destruction there.. bruh
It's very interesting to listen to history lectures that first say that there was no slavery at a certain period of time, and then follow it up with something like: "women didn't have the right to marry at their free will, property was passed down from father to son..." and so on.
you are absolutely sure that there was no slavery, right?
I'd love to see feminists placing women in the role of "default human" from now on as a way of centering them, using feminine pronouns when speaking of people generally. Men have done this for themselves for more than long enough. I want to take maleness out of our language as much as possible, at least in English.
"To each their own" >>> "To each her own"
"Every person should be able to do what he wants" >>> "Every person should be able to do what she wants"
"God in His infinite wisdom..." >>> "God in Her infinite wisdom..."
Etc.
Just speak from the female experience as much as possible. Wash maleness out of your speech, and you'll wash it gradually out of your way of thinking.
