Chloe Bourgeois, Queen Bee

Chloe Bourgeois, Queen Bee

A total diva and very dramatic

I was sick of the ponytail guys I’m sorry 💀 my version of her would be super overdramatic but she knows how to be serious

She and Sabrina are still friends and there’s definitely a power imbalance, but I thought it would be better if she had a reason for wanting to constantly be in control and for things to go the way she wants them—or expects them to but who knows 🤷‍♀️

(also the blues on her outfit were supposed to be lighter but ibis paint is an ass)

Adrien Agreste, Chat Noir

Adrien Agreste, Chat Noir

I tried to make him more jagged and chaotic looking compared to Ladybug, so there would be more contrast between them

Also somewhat asymmetrical cuz he can’t wear whatever he wants as a civilian

Season 6 so far seems like a big improvement in some areas, specifically Marinette.

It's kinda annoying seeing how many people keep bringing up the London special saying she's no longer mature or that it's like she forgot everything that happened.

Because so far it feels like a normal progression of her character. Because it's a regression. The intro spells it out: her knowing Gabriel's secret is eating her up and it's eating her relationship up.

The way she has no idea how to behave around Adrien after that, asking Alya and Nino to join her date because everything has to be perfect.

The idea of Sublime and Adrien possibly talking about her without knowing what they're saying about her, wanting to make sure they're friends.

Getting so worked up over a 100th kiss where the stars and planets align as a sign of good luck that everything is going to be alright and crying when he doesn't show up.

She's literally going out of her way to make sure everything is perfect to make up for the fact that the one thing that's out of her control could not only hurt their relationship, but seriously hurt Adrien in the process.

And so far I'm really liking this route they're taking with her character. It's subtle but effective.

Are you into losers

yeah, but not like weird creepy ones with gross fetishes or something, more like the kinds that are probably gonna be working at a pizza place for most of their life 😻🤞

𝗅𝗎𝖼𝖾𝗇𝗍

Xen really didn’t know what to do.

Though, that wasn’t a surprise to anyone.

So, to recap, she was hit by some weird comet-like thing, and it turned her into…well…this.

Green hair that apparently can catch on fire but not burn, neon green eyes that Sandy thinks might shoot lasers, and finally, she can fly.

“Sandy! Help me get down!” Xen wailed, acidic tears rolling down her face as she hit the ceiling.

“I’m—ugh,” Sandy groaned, avoiding a stray drop of acid-tear that melted straight threw the floor. “I’m trying! Just— calm down!”

More tears streamed down her face, and she felt half-bad for freaking Sandy out, but also, she was literally turning into a…thing!!

How could she not panic and cry?! Like, her tears are acidic now!

“It’s really not that bad! I saw a guy with like, chicken feet or something! At least you’re still you!” Sandy assured.

“It isn’t the same! My hair is on fire!”

Sandy groaned, looking toward the door where Nyxx was.

“Hey, you just gonna stand there and be useless? Come over here and help me!” The girl nagged, glaring at the other.

Nyxx only blinked, seeming a bit weary. “The extraction team will be here soon to help, so we should just try to keep her from blowing up.”

“Extrac— what?! What the hell is an extraction team?!”

“They’re really the only people able to help her right now, since she’s a bit of a liability right now.” Nyxx explained, ignoring Sandy’s spiraling.

Before she could say anything else, people in something close to hazmat suits came rushing in past.

Sandy didn’t even have time to comprehend before they were setting down some triangle thing, which unleashed a weird tech-y looking rope that dragged Xen down. Then, the rest of it turned into a cage, trapping her inside.

“What are you doing?!” Sandy screamed, pounding her fist on the cage. “Let her go!”

“Sandy, stop.” Nyxx demanded, coming up behind her and holding her back under the arms.

Sandy only kicked, nothing but fear and rage fueling her mind and actions.

“Get off me, bastard!”

Suddenly, a thick pink mist clouded the room, exploding from the hall. The anger she felt just seconds before disappears with the fog, leaving only a mild sense of disorientation in her senses.

A sigh, then, “Thanks, EVA.”

Sandy had not time to react before she was drug back to a chair to sit. She could barely stand, much less notice the team of weirdos take her friend out of the room.

Xen, meanwhile, was curled into a ball. Tears continued to run down her face, and she was lucky enough the be able to wipe them away. The people who were taking her away weren’t slow at all, as the moved with impressive speed.

All she could focus on, however, was just how ruined her life was. Her hair was on fire, her tears are burn through stuff, she can fly, and probably a shit ton of other things that will make everyone avoid her. And just when she was starting to get settled too…

She wanted to scream, and rage and throw a fit like a child. But she couldn’t.

Whatever had happened, it nearly killed her.

The idea of even going outside now, was terrifying.

On the outside, the team was making twists and turns, and Xen was pretty sure they went down an elevator at one point. That is, until they put her in a room. Minutes passed with the cage still glowing around her, but was finally removed.

The room she was in was almost stark white, with nothing but a small bed inside.

“Where am I?” Xen shivered, looking around wildly.

“Apologies, but this is the only way we can assure both your safety and ours for the time being.” A voice called out, coming from the ceiling.

Xen noticed a camera in the corner, and instinctually backed away.

“Please I— I don’t know what’s going on. You have to help me.”

The voice returned. “Of course, that’s what we’re here for. Just try to relax for now, we’ll be sending in Dr. Stein shortly to run some tests.”

Stein? Tests? What are they talking about?

“Wait! Who- who are you?”

“My name is Gideon, I’m EDEN’s most developed and effective AI.”

Okay. Great.

What does that mean?

Xen didn’t respond, and instead curled in on herself. If she was gonna be stuck in some room to get tested on, she might as well be comfortable.

Coming back to her senses, Sandy was instantly raged.

“What the FUCK?!” She shouted, shooting up and looking around crazily.

“Relax there, kid.” Mustang chided, blowing smoke out of the window.

Sandy turned to him, eye twitching. “Why the hell are you here? No, wait, actually, where is Xen? Tell me. Now.”

“Is that how you ask?”

Glaring, Sandy took a deep breath. “Please tell me where Xen is, fuckface.”

Mustang nearly choked, holding back a laugh. “Well, you certainly are spitfire, aren’t ya?” He chuckled.

“Now, bastard.”

“Ah, sorry kiddo, I can’t. That information is classified.”

Once again pissed off, Sandy stalked up to the older man, ripping the cigarette from his hand.

“I don’t fucking care if it’s classified, you ass, my best friend’s hair literally turned into fire. So you’re gonna tell me what the hell you guys are doing to her, and maybe, maybe, I won’t burn this whole fucking building down. Sound fair?”

Mustang stared, his eyes narrowed and slightly amused.

“Hm, guess I really don’t have a choice, huh?”

Not replying, Sandy met his stare equally, with Mustang recognizing the similar determination from his youth.

“Fine, fine, but I really can’t tell ya. Only agents and students get to know were Anomalies are put.”

“Anomalies?” Sandy raised a brow.

“Sorry, classified.” Mustang shrugged.

What the hell was this guy talking about? Anomalies? Like some alien shit? And only agents and students knew where…where the…

Widening her eyes, Sandy looked back to Mustang. “How do I become a student?”

“What?”

“A student. I need to be one here. That’s how I figure out what’s happening to Xen, right? So, what? Do I gotta, fill out an application? Take a test?” Sandy asked, rambling as many ideas popped into her head.

Mustang blinked, then while smirking, he ruffled the girl’s hair. “You’re sharper than you look, kid. Alright, ya wanna become a student.”

Ignoring the obvious lack of personal space, Sandy straightened. “Yes.”

“Then follow me. I’ve been looking for a knew lackey anyway.”

“What? You mean—”

“Yes, kid, I mean I’m gonna be teachin’ you. Now hurry up.”

Time felt like it was going too fast, and the nerves in Sandy’s body quickly stacked up. Inhaling, she grounded herself, then began to walk after the older man.

One thing at a time, Sandy, just roll with it.

New chapterrrrr!!!! Sort of, idk, just take it

𝗐𝗁𝖾𝗇 𝗐𝖺𝗅𝗅𝗌 𝖼𝗋𝗎𝗆𝖻𝗅𝖾

It wasn’t Red’s original plan, it wasn’t even his plan. Ada thought it was a good idea to undermine him by implementing her own plan, which, as you might’ve figured out, completely went to shit.

“Impressive plan, Ada.” Red commented, snark lacing his tone.

Ada groaned, thumping her head against the wall. “Shut up, Red!”

Meanwhile, bullets whizzed past them, and the men they were facing off against were shouting orders at each other. The duo had been backed into a corner, with nothing but a flimsy column shielding them from the onslaught of gunfire.

“What about now, Ada? Have another imbecilic plan yet?”

“Red! God! Shut up!” Ada shouted, glaring at him.

Was Ada technically his upperclassman? Yes. Was she also a lot older than him, being nineteen? Also yes.

Did that mean Red was going to treat her with respect?

Hell. No.

“Well, if you haven’t got any spectacular plans, shall I take the the lead?” Red grinned smugly.

Ada rolled her eyes, frustrated. “Fucking— whatever. Do your shit, Red.”

With a triumphant huff, Red scanned what he could of the warehouse. There were many foot soldiers, all aiming their weapons and firing pointlessly. Red felt a bit of offense, clearly, these people weren’t taking EDEN, or it’s members seriously.

Hm, then, he should remind them, just exactly why EDEN is at the top of the food chain.

Jumping quickly to the next column, Red drew their fire, leaving Ada behind. If he were to initialize his plan, he’d need a distraction. Turning on his earpiece, he connected his comm straight to HQ.

“EVA?” Red called.

“Thats me! What d’ya need, Reddy?” EVA responded, her voice cheerful.

“I need a little diversion, I don’t suppose you could cook something up?”

“Yes! One-hundred-percent! You can count on me, Redsters!”

With that, the call cut, and a few seconds later, something dropped from the ceiling. Red assumed it was some kind of security drone that delivered it, as that was EVA’s whole thing. It was a small disk, but managed to let out a mist so thick that even Red had a hard seeing through it.

However, EVA had done as asked, and he would not let it go to waste.

Running through the fog, Red strained his senses to hear anything around him, and see as far as he could. The fog shifted around bodies, and Red even smelled the particular odor of the soldiers. He would make quick work of this now, lest he miss watching Tales of Gothicka and Mephistopheles, with Nyxx and Moon.

One after another, the fifteen-year-old slashed through legs and stomach, occasionally throats. The smell of blood was slightly irritating, but he ignored as best he could. These foot soldiers really didn’t know what was coming, huh? Some distance away, he heard more struggling, easily figuring out it was Ada.

Perhaps she wasn’t completely useless, after all.

Slicing through the last man, Red quickly grabbed him by the throat.

“Tell me, sir, why are you attacking EDEN students? Were you paid? What about this warehouse? I heard you were smuggling illegal contraband into Acheron and Spade, but I must know why.” Red interrogated, his voice seemingly calm and docile.

The man was sweating bullets, which Red wasn’t surprised by. He had that effect on people, making them nervous.

Red didn’t know why, though.

“Hurry up now, if I remove this blade you’ll surely bleed out in minutes. And that’s being generous.” Red stated, twisting the knife in the others’ gut just a tiny bit.

The man yelped, gripping his hand onto Red’s forearm. “Stop! Agh, fuck!”

“If you want me to stop, then answer my questions.” A dark look washed over Red’s face, and his eyes went cold.

“I-I don’t know, really. They just—urgh” The soldier panted. “The people who employed us— just told us to get the cargo from here to the extraction—point. I didn’t know about no Even kids or whatever..”

Red stared, and to others, it was one of malice and inhumanity. His eyes were seemingly empty, as if any emotions he could’ve felt in the past or present, just evaporated. Ada despised that look.

The fog had cleared enough for her to spot Red, and exactly what he was doing.

Little brat, she thought.

She stalked over to them, glaring holes into Red’s back.

“What the hell are you doing?!” Ada shouted.

Red didn’t respond, and instead, just kept aiming that look at the man. Ada may not like these guys, but even she had a little kindness. Kicking him in the back, Ada was able to call Red to attention.

“Wake the fuck up, shorty. We’ve got a lead. Now stop torturing that guy.” Ada commanded.

She knew, however, that he words meant little to Red. As he would only take orders from Captain Silver. And occasionally Nyxx, though even he had a hard time with Red.

Red slowly turned his head, his expression devoid of any feeling. Ada felt herself shiver a bit, from just how cold he looked. She knew it was better to pretend not to be nervous, but she couldn’t help herself. That look…

Red snapped back to the present, once again letting his instincts take control. There was an internal groaning in his head, he’d definitely have a lecture later.

Standing up, and removing the blade from the man’s gut, ignoring his wailing, Red looked to Ada. “Apologies, I seem to have spaced out a bit. Now then, let’s get going, shall we?”

Not waiting for an answer, Red walked away, cleaning the blood from his knife with hand cloth. Ada, on the other hand, just rolled her eyes and called for backup. That man was still alive, and he would be as long as The Butterflies get here on time, so she could save the real interrogation for later.

Red, looking much more forward to weekly binge night, practically beamed. Though, his version of beaming was an uncaring face and lazy body language.

After about an hour, Red finally made it back to his apartment. It was quite spacious, being more of a loft than an apartment. Before he and Nyxx graduated from student to agents, they’d talked about moving away from the dorms. Although it was sometimes nice, being able to get away from the school was also very freeing.

So, with only a minor struggle, Red and Nyxx successfully moved into their own apartment. Currently, the boys were renting it out from this old couple, Maurice and Delaney, they were kind.

Walking through the front door, Red closed it behind him and slid off his shoes. He took off his blazer and threw it on the back of a chair, leaving only his tie and a white button-up, as well his plaid red and black pants. Hopping over the back of the couch, Red landed a few inches away from Nyxx, who was already comfortable in a tank-top and sweatpants.

“You’re just in time, Moon was already starting to complain about you being gone.” Nyxx remarked, shoving a fist full of popcorn in his mouth.

“Oh dear, how would I recover.” Red replied flatly, though Nyxx recognized his tone as humorous.

Huffing a laugh, Nyxx grabbed the remote and turned on the TV. Moon, quickly, flew down from his perch, transforming from a bat to a human in seconds.

“Which episode?” He asked quietly, sitting in between the two older boys.

“Episode thirteen, I’m pretty sure. That’s where we left off last week, right?” Nyxx looked to Red for confirmation.

“Correct, we ended on a cliffhanger between Gothicka and Princess Angelicka fighting over Unicorn Joe.”

Moon nodded, while Nyxx hummed in response. He clicked on the episode, and Red felt himself instantly relax.

Though to others, he might always seem on edge, but within the walls of his apartment, sitting with two of the most important people to him, Red couldn’t be calmer.

So, not exactly an update-update, but I’m trying to figure out Red’s character so just enjoy regardless❤️❤️

Also, he is indeed of sassy lil bitch with no empathy skills, that much I’ve figured out

Melancholy of A Wizard

A gloomy haze of fog trailed around the estate. Creating somewhat of a uneasy feeling, to outsiders at least. Inside the mansion owned by none other than the Wizard famous for destroying one of the King’s palaces, a flame burned in the fire place, sending dark smoke up the chimney and into the clouded sky.

The Wizard himself was lying on the velvet sofa, which he stole from a noble after they refused to pay for his services. Quite a few of things were..in other words, borrowed from his many contractors. He seemed to always get on people’s bad side, no matter what he did. The man could be sitting in a room by himself and rumors will stir.

He suddenly sighed, realizing that his thoughts once again got in the way of his concentration. Currently, he was reading a novel, something about two lovers being separated by circumstance.

He wasn’t particularly interested, but as per the request of Hestia to broaden his horizons, he continued to read. His tastes laid in more abstract forms of art. Such as paintings, or depressing poetry. Romance had never been his strong suit, seeing as he had little to no experience with it.

All throughout his youth, the Wizard had focused on being at the top. Nothing else mattered, the only thing that did was him winning above all else. He sees how childish that line of thinking was, as it only ended in him staying in a dingy, derelict mansion with a nagging, motherly spirit to bother him.

However, the alternative would be to face trial from the Royal Court, for destroying a palace and many of his other crimes. So, in retrospect, such living conditions weren’t the most unbearable.

“Orion, please, you should get some rest.” Hestia calls, her voice echoing around the room.

“Not now, Hestia. You insisted I read this book, so I am. Please don’t disturb me, you know how I hate being distracted while reading.” Orion said, gesturing her away with a wave of his hand.

A sigh emanates from every corner of the room, as though she was everywhere all at once. Orion feels her presence vanish as Hestia moves to another part of the house, or more, her spirit moves.

Orion reads over the same paragraph six times before giving up, shutting the book and tossing it on the coffee table.

“Absolute rubbish. How could anyone find that entertaining? All that damned book talks about is love and longing. Surely there are much more important things to worry about…” Orion shook his head, standing up and heading to the kitchen.

He takes his time, chewing on a slice of bread before brewing up a coffee for himself. One of the better parts of living (almost) alone, is that he needn’t share anything, or require the politeness to ask. It used to be like that back at the school, where being respectful was absolutely necessary.

How he did not miss it.

Sipping the bitter drink from the mug, Orion walked throughout the house, soon reaching the second floor, where his room awaited him. Upon entering, Orion noticed the balcony doors were slightly ajar, letting a draft in.

“Damn you, Hestia…” He mumbled, setting down his mug and shutting the door with aggression.

Clearly, the spirit did not like being blown off.

Changing into a night shirt and pants, Orion finishes the cup before settling into bed. He stared at the ceiling for some time, admiring the mural of some heavenly event. Sure, he didn’t waste his time with worshipping the gods, but he could appreciate talent where it was due.

Soon, his eyes begin to slip closed, as a dream lulls him into sleep.

He’s kinda cunty ngl

☁︎︎clouds disperse☁︎︎

“There you go, Miss Sandy! All better!” Mio smiled, wrapping up the last of her wounds.

Sighing, Sandy moved her arm, it was a little sore, but nothing some pain meds couldn’t deal with.

“Thanks..” She muttered, staring blankly at the wall.

Yuki and Mio shared a look, one of concern and worry.

“We need to cheer her up! But how?” Mio whispered to the older girl.

“Hmm…maybe some tea? That always helps Ms. Yashiro when she comes back from missions!” Yuki whispered back.

“Oh! Good idea! You go make it and I’ll stay here and try to make her feel better, ‘kay?”

Yuki nodded, heading out of the room swiftly. With an ever brightening smile, Mio looks back to girl sitting on the cot.

“So, what’s you’re favorite color?”

Sandy blinks, realizing a bit late that she’s being spoken to. “Oh..what? Mine?”

“Yes! My favorite color is pink, but yellow is also good.” Mio spoke, putting a finger to her chin.

“I guess, I really like blue.” Sandy shrugged, folding one leg over the other.

Mio almost beams with excitement, a toothy smile spreading across her face. Just then, Yuki returns with the tea.

“Here you are, Miss Sandy.” Yuki said, setting down the tea on bedside table.

“Thanks…uh…sorry, what were your names again?” Sandy asks with a nervous grin.

The girls waste no time in answering, bright smiles on both their faces. “I’m Mio, and this is Yuki!” Mio points to a slightly taller girl with

“We’re training under Miss Tsubaki to become healers! As well as medical professionals!” Yuki giggles, holding her head with pride.

Mio nods along. “Mmhm! You’re actually one of our first real patients, Miss Sandy!”

“Yeah?” Sandy arches a brow, her mouth quirking up a bit.

“Yup! Miss Tsubaki doesn’t really give any of the serious tasks to us just yet, since we’re so young, but she’s been a bit more lenient with letting us help out!”

Confused, all Sandy can manage is a weak nod. The most she’s been able to do for the past few hours is sit and zone out. After seeing what happened to Xen, there’s something creeping in her head. She was powerless to do anything to help Xen, and the only reason her best friend didn’t die was because of some weird magic-science shit. Sandy was useless, and an innocent person, one of the only people to ever understand her, almost paid the price.

How could she face Xen again? Wouldn’t that be selfish? Clearly something’s going on, and Sandy’s more than out of the loop. She’d just get in the way, right?

And almost as if sensing it, Mio frowned. “Is everything okay, Miss Sandy?”

Snapping out of her thoughts, Sandy looks up to the girl, whose now sitting on the cot.

“I’m fine.” Sandy says, clearly not fine.

Yuki and Mio share a look, but just as they’re about to say something, a figure rushes into the room.

“Yuki, Mio! Make some room!” Another girl demands, her bright pink hair the first thing Sandy noticed.

In a matter of seconds, the girls move things around until another cot is placed down, along with many machines beside it.

“We’re ready, Shiori!” Yuki shouts, and suddenly the room is crowded.

Two girls hurry in, carrying a man with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth.

Widening her eyes and scooting back a little, Sandy watched the organized chaos that was these girl’s process.

The girl with pink hair, Shiori, helps another with brown hair tied into braids lay the man down. They quickly start to hook the man up to the machines, putting what Sandy could only assume was an IV in his wrist. The man in question, however, just used his other arm to remove his cigarette and blow out smoke.

“Evenin’ ladies, how’ve ya been?” He smiles lazily, his thick southern accent sounding like something straight out of a cowboy movie.

“Mr. Mustang please, throw that out! Not only is smoking bad for your lungs, but smoking is extremely prohibited in the Infirmary!” Shiori commanded, glaring a bit at the man.

He only shrugs, taking another drag. “Tsubaki ain’t here, so what’s the big deal? This id’nt hurtin’ nobody..”

“Maybe you can survive it, but we have another patient in here, sir!” Mio pouts, pointing to where Sandy was sitting.

Taking notice of her, the man widens his eyes a bit, and Sandy is able to fully look at him. He’s got shoulder-length, messy blonde hair with a stubble along his jaw, as well as snake-skin boots and a flashy belt.

“Well now, didn’t see ya there darlin’, that’s my mistake.” He grins, his eyes dancing with amusement. “Who’s that? I thought y’all only took care of agents and special cases?”

The girl with twin braids answers, “She came in last night with Nyxx, who insisted that we take care of her and her friend.” She explained.

Nodding, the man, or…Mustang? Flicked his cigarette into a nearby trash can. “Friend, huh? Must’a been real bad if Nyxx had somethin’ to say about it.”

“That’s what I was thinking, considering he only really talks to Ada and Red.” Shiori expressed, looking up in thought.

More confused than ever, Sandy merely sat on the cot, staring as the girl’s worked around the man. Yuki, looking over, perked up.

“Miss Sandy! You haven’t had any tea!” She walks over, a gentle smile on her face. “Trust me, it’s good. It’s one of Miss Tsubaki’s herbal blends, it’s supposed to make you feel lighter!”

Hesitating, Sandy merely looks at the tea. “Thanks, but I think I’m alright.”

“Don’t be shy, uh, Sandy, was it?” Mustang calls from the other side of the room.

“Yeah.” She confirms flatly, already tired of this conversation.

“Well, you can trust me on all this tea business, alright? It really does make ya feel good, and who knows? It might loosen ya up!” He laughs.

Narrowing her eyes, Sandy turns from the man to stare at the tea once more. Then, with a sigh, she downs it like a shot. Well, all that partying experience really does pay off sometimes.

Not in this case though, because as soon as she set the cup down, Sandy felt every kind of dizzy. “The hell…?” She mumbled, her words slurred.

“Oh dear, oh no! Miss Sandy! You aren’t supposed to drink it that quickly!” Yuki panics, reaching her hands out then pulling them back.

“Haha! Alright! This girl knows how to party! I’ve only seen alcoholics down a drink in one swig like that, I’m impressed!” Mustang cackles, throwing his head back.

“Mustang! Do not encourage this!” Shiori grumbled, tightening the bandages she was wrapping around his waist.

“Ow! Hey!” He winced. “That’s where I got shot! Ain’t ya supposed to be a healer?!”

“We’re doctors, Mustang, not push-overs. Now shut up and settle down, otherwise I’ll just call Miss Tsubaki in here to deal with you.” Shiori threatened, and Mustang quickly shut his mouth.

Still recovering from the wooziness, Sandy could barely focus. Blinking rapidly, she gripped onto the cot.

“What was even in that?” She rubs her head, then the room begins to look wavy. “…the fuck?” Sandy mutters, looking around as things start turning into other things.

“Great, she’s having hallucinations.” The brown-haired girl sighed.

Clearly barely holding it together, Mustang struggles not to laugh, avoiding the glaring daggers of Shiori’s eyes.

“Oh goodness! Please, Miss Sandy, lay down! The effects will wear off in a few minutes, so please be still!” Yuki frowns, looking more like a frog with stars for eyes than a human in Sandy’s vision.

“This is fuckin’ craaaaaazzzzy…” Sandy giggles, falling back into the cot, staring at the ceiling.

“Miss Tsubaki is gonna be so upset!” Mio whines nervously, tapping her foot in worry.

Finishing up with Mustang’s injuries, Shiori heads over to check on Sandy.

“Relax, both of you, she’ll understand if you tell her it was an accident. After all, this girl isn’t a regular patient, so really the blame falls on no one.” Shiori reassures, still looking a bit displeased at the giggling Sandy.

And Sandy, well, she accepted the fact that she was definitely tripping. The ceiling turned into a blue sky filled with rainbows, and cupcakes walked with hairy legs. Laughing harder, she could barely contain herself.

“Holy shit, haha! This is so wild!” Sandy cackled, kicking her feet.

On the other side of the room, Mustang bursts out laughing as well.

“Mustang!” Shiori yelped, furrowing her brows at the man.

“Sorry, I-I just can’t! Look at her! She’s droolin’” Mustang slaps a hand over his, his whole body shaking.

“You know what, I’m just gonna go find Miss Tsubaki and let her handle this, Nanami, come on.”

Xen wakes up with a start, as the smell of burning fills her senses. Shooting up, she looks for the source, panic settling in when she can’t find it. Her breaths shorten, and theirs a burning sensation in her lungs.

“…en. Xen. Xen!” A voice shouts, shaking her shoulders harshly.

Centering herself around the voice, she grabs onto the hands, squeezing them. Unknown to her, tears fall down her face, steaming.

“It’s okay, it’s okay. You’re alright, Xen, calm down.” The voice comforts, sounding vaguely familiar.

“Wha…what?” She mumbled out, her voice sounding strained.

The sensation wears down, until eventually fading all together.

“There you go, that’s good.”

Looking up, Xen meets the eyes of Nyxx. His mismatched eyes are both a bit weary from something, but they also hold a bit of understanding.

“Nyxx?” She asks, struggling to figure out if this was real or not.

He nods, then takes his hands away from her shoulders. “You, uh, you had a lot of people worried, you know?” He rubbed his neck awkwardly, avoiding eye contact.

Still a bit confused, Xen tries to gather her bearings. She seemed to be in a hospital room, but nothing except Nyxx felt familiar. How long was she asleep?

“I did? Sorry.” She apologizes, fiddling with her fingers. “Uh, where am I, again?”

“You’re at EDEN Academy, a school that specializes in training people to help get rid of Ghouls, or become Devil Hunters.”

“Riiiiiight.” Xen arches a brow, a bit disbelieving. “And, why are you here? In my hospital room, I mean.”

He smiles softly. “I was just checking on you, Tsubaki asked me to, after all.”

A bit flustered, Xen is distracted by the distant sound of running. It’s a bit strange, Xen normally couldn’t hear that well, so how…

Just then, the door flies open, revealing a very distressed Sandy with a Coke in her hands.

“Xen!” She yelled, relief written all over her features.

“Sandy!” Xen squealed, smiling broadly.

Opening up her arms, Sandy wasted no time running into them.

“Jesus Christ, dude! I thought you were gonna die, don’t you ever do that again, got it?!” Sandy rambled, still holding the can.

Laughing a bit, Xen covered her mouth. “I promise, and, I’m glad you’re okay too, Sandy.”

“Haha, yeah…”

Sandy’s voice drifted off, and the telltale sign of her realizing something flew across her face.

“What’s wrong?” Xen wondered.

“Uhhhhh, it’s nothing! Just, uhm.. okay, don’t freak out, alright?” Sandy grinned nervously, squeezing the can with both hands.

A bit scared, Xen tried to figure out what Sandy was worrying so much about. “Okay…? What’s happening, right now?”

Sandy glanced to Nyxx, who looks equally as frazzled. He shrugs once he notices her stare, and Sandy turns back with a huff.

“Okay, okay. Just, seriously, it’s not a big deal, like, at all.” Sandy began, her eyes flicking to above Xen’s head.

Without thinking, Xen pulled on a piece of her hair, a nervous habit, then paused. Raising it up, Xen noticed the bright green that replaced her previously dark brown hair.

For a few moments, Xen lived in ignorant bliss, not comprehending what she was seeing. Then, the realization kicked in.

“Sandy…” She muttered, her eyes widening.

“Xen?” Sandy squeaked, cringing back.

“Sandy!” Her voice raised higher, looking to the other in terror.

“Yeah?!” Her shoulders bunched, her smile nervous.

“MY HAIR!!” Xen screamed. “IT’S GREEN! WHAT HAPPENED TO ME?!”

Sandy could only laugh, her tone anxious. “What do you mean? It looks great on you! Matches your eyes! Or…uh.. never mind. Do not look at your eyes!”

With more horror settling in her bones, Xen scrambles out of bed, toward what she assumes is a bathroom.

Her entire eye, from the iris to the sclera, it was all green. The only part being saved were her pupils, which remained black.

Her mouth fell in shock, and all she could do was stare. Until it became to much, then she screamed.

“WHAT?!?!”

lmao that was hilarious @3xen

❀𝗉𝖺𝗂𝗇𝗍𝖾𝖽 𝗁𝗒𝖺𝖼𝗂𝗇𝗍𝗁𝗌❀

Was Sandy panicking the entire drive to some random location on Giggle Maps? Perhaps. Was she also fully aware that she had what could possibly be her dead friend and a criminal in the back of her van? Perhance.

But whose to know, right? It’s not like her leg was bouncing from anxiety the whole ride, neither were her palms sweaty live a damn river. No way.

“Ya good?” Nyxx asked, peering out from the back seat.

Nervously laughing, Sandy readjusted her grip on the wheel. “Hah! That is— that’s is a great question, man! I don’t know! Haha, where are we going again?”

“EDEN Academy, they have a medical wing with some of the best doctors in the world. They’ll be able to help Xen.” Nyxx reassured, as he had a few times since the start of the drive.

“Right, right..” Sandy replied, nodding her head, trying to get her eye to stop twitching. “A-anyway, on that note, how exactly do you know Xen?”

Sandy knew the answer, or part of it, at least. She still hadn’t let go of her initial skepticism of him, considering the whole idea of being saved by the same person you served coffee was really interesting coincidence. Now would be the perfect time to figure out just why he helped Xen, and why exactly he’s helping now.

Not that Sandy didn’t appreciate it. She can’t even imagine what might’ve happened had he and that other lady not shown up, but she was allowed to have mixed feelings!

He seemed to contemplate the question. “Well, about a week ago, I kind of saved her from a mutant thing? Then I took her to the hospital and gave her my number in case of an emergency.”

Even with her mind running a mile a minute, Sandy could still tell Nyxx was on edge. That was probably the best she was gonna get out of him for the moment.

“Got it. So, do you know why might be happening to her? Like, why she exploded into weird green fire or whatever?”

“I’m not sure.. I haven’t seen anything like this before. But if I had to guess, this was probably the result of some failed experiment. Though, you’re guess is as good as mine at the moment.” Nyxx shook his head, looking down to where Xen laid, still.

Sandy kept her eyes back on the road, they were getting close to the academy. Picking up the speed, she swore when something came flying at her side mirror.

Cracking the glass and throwing the van off balance, Sandy yelled as she tried to regain control of the vehicle.

“Fuck! What the hell was that?!” The girl panicked, swiveling her head this way and that.

“Eyes on the road! I’ll take care of it, just focus on getting us to the academy!” Nyxx commanded, throwing open the back doors.

Groaning, Sandy concentrated on the task at hand. She heard an inhuman shriek from atop the van, as well as many thumps and bangs. Well, at least she wasn’t fighting it. Sparing a glance at Xen, she saw her limp on the floor of the van, barely moving. The thinnest of shadows held her in place, which must be because Nyxx was fighting.

“Dammit Xen, please be okay.” Sandy mumbled to herself, concern and anxiety almost consuming her.

Thankfully, what seemed like a very flashy government building appeared in front of her. Overcome with relief, Sandy forgot about traffic laws and sped toward the parking lot.

Swinging into a spot sharply, Sandy put the van in park and hopped out. Above her, Nyxx threw what appeared like a weird bird creature to the ground. It spit up some acid stuff, part of it hitting the van, melting a hole right through.

“Ah! My van! My beautiful van!” Sandy shouted in horror, turning to the thing. “You motherfucker! Do you know how much that costed me?! I’ll bash your brains in you damn disgusting bastard!”

Nyxx turned her, a bit surprised at her profanity. He watched as the girl pulled a bat out of nowhere and started beating the thing to hell. Sandy, however, didn’t really care. The bird thing tried to fight back, but she kicked it’s talon away and smashed the bat against its face.

“That’s what ya get, shit-face.” Sandy smirked, wiping the purple blood from her clothes.

She swiftly turned to Nyxx, who only blinked.

“The hell are ya doin’? Go get Xen some help!”

Widening his eyes, Nyxx nodded and quickly headed to the van, wrapping Xen up in shadows again. He lifted her with ease and sped-walk into the building. Sandy followed close behind, closing the doors of her van and wiping some brain mush off her bat.

“Gideon!” Nyxx shouted as he walked in. “Call Tsubaki! We need help, now!”

A robotic voice spoke back, sounding more like choppy text-to-speech than an actual voice.

“Of course, Nyxx.”

Sandy stared at the ceiling in awe, wondering just what the hell was going on. Nyxx began walking faster, and Sandy struggled to keep up.

“How the hell..are you so fast?” Sandy panted, running had never been her favorite activity.

“Keep up.” He said, his eyes looking straight ahead.

Sandy frowned, but kept pace. She didn’t know what to make of Nyxx, or anything right now. But her best friend was in danger, so she decided to at least trust him enough to help Xen.

The doors to the medical slid open automatically, and Nyxx paid nobody any kind as he rushed to the operating room.

Kicking the doors open, he was greeted by the scene of Tsubaki and Stein standing in the room, prepping their supplies.

“What’s the situation?” Tsubaki questioned, pulling on her white gloves.

“I think it might be an infection of some kind. Her body was set on fire as well, but it doesn’t seem to have actually burned her.” Nyxx told, burning holes at the operating table.

“Right. Set her down, please.” The woman said, gesturing to the table. “And remove the shadows.”

He obeyed, pulling back his ability and ignoring the slight drop of his heart when he saw Xen fully. She was covered in slashes, all of them dripping with blood. Every cut also had some green looking veins inching out.

“Holy shit..” Xen’s friend, who Nyxx had forgotten about, whispered. Her face was a canvas of pain, anger, and fear. “I-is she gonna be okay? She’s gonna be okay, right?”

She looked to him, her eyes glassy and tired.

“We’ll do everything we can.” Tsubaki assured, turning to her. “Nyxx, you should both go. You know my process requires complete focus.”

“Right,” He nodded, glancing to Stein who was already leaving. “You, come on.”

Nyxx gently grabbed the girl’s arm, but she ripped it away.

“What the hell?! No fucking way! I’m not leaving Xen here with some random lady! And my name is Sandy!” The girl, Sandy, shouted.

Her shoulders were tense and her eyes were blazing with anger. Before she can have another outburst, Tsubaki comes over, grabbing her attention.

“Listen, child, I know this is difficult, but you need to leave. If you want your friend, Xen? To get better, you need to let me do my job.”

Sandy stared at her, seemingly trying to decipher if there were any lies behind Tsubaki’s words. Deciding, Sandy shrugged off the other’s hands and looked away.

“Fine. But if anything happens, I’ll put all of you in the hospital instead. Understand?” Sandy threatened, deadly serious.

And, from personal experience, Nyxx really didn’t doubt her words.

“Of course. Now, out.” Tsubaki turned away, heading toward the table once more.

Nyxx followed Sandy out, shutting the doors behind him.

For about an hour, all the two could do was sit in the lobby. Waiting.

Sandy’s leg bounced and she chewed her thumbnail. Her eyes were trained on the wall opposite of her, and Nyxx could fully relate.

The unease in his mind hadn’t settled since he got there, and it was all he could do to not rip everything apart. Nyxx wasn’t sure why this was bothering him so much, he barely knew anything about Xen. But it was anyway, and he hated it. The shadows he commanded creeped around in his head, and he couldn’t control it once they started whispering.

Your fault, as usual.

How is it that one person can be so useless?

She was counting on you…

Worthless…

Once the voices started, they didn’t stop. And of course, it had to be now. When he was stuck, nobody there to shut them up. Had Ada or Red been present, they would’ve noticed immediately. They’re ways of snapping him out of it were drastically different, however. Where Red would have isolated him and calmed him down, Ada would’ve just punched him.

That conjured a better feeling, making the voices dissipate some.

It was about now that he realized someone was talking.

“..yxx? Nyxx? Hello?” The snap of fingers in his face brought him out of his haze.

He blinked rapidly, staring at the person in front of him. Sandy stood there, looking unimpressed.

“Takin’ a nap, huh?” Sandy scoffs, rolling her eyes. “Whatever.”

Slumping down into her chair, Nyxx realized just how exhausted Sandy looked. Her hair was ragged, her clothes were torn and ripped, and entire body was tense. Then, he noticed how much blood was actually covering her. And not just purple Ghoul blood.

“You’re hurt.”

“No shit, ya just figure that one out?” She arched a brow, looking at him from the corner of her eye.

He huffed, somewhat annoyed with her attitude. “You need help. Come on.” He stood up, gesturing for her to follow.

“Hell no. I’m fine and I’m staying here.” Sandy glared.

Staring, Nyxx simply picked her up and carried her to the other side of the clinic.

“What the fuck?! Put me down! Dammit Nyxx! The hell are you doin?!” She yelled, twisting around in his arm.

“Helping you.”

“Oh fuck off! Let me go!”

“Nope.”

“Nyxx!”

He arrived at the infirmary in seconds, and was greeted by the younger two of Tsubaki’s students.

“Good evening, Mr. Nyxx! How are you?” Yuki, a young girl with lavender hair, asked.

“I’m fine, she isn’t though.” He stated, pointing to Sandy, who resembled more of a dog with rabies than a human.

“Oh dear, what’s wrong?” Mio, another young girl with dark green hair and icy blue eyes, fretted.

Mio and Yuki were the youngest of the Butterfly Ladies, but they were very skilled in medicine and healing.

“She’s got a bunch of cuts and is bleeding somewhere, I believe. She’s also had a rough day, so please be gentle and patient with her.” Nyxx voiced flatly.

“Understood!” They both said in unison, standing hip-to-hip in front of him.

Slowly, he dropped Sandy from her place tucked under his arm and settled her on the floor.

“Let them help you, okay? Stress isn’t good for the body.”

Reluctantly accepting, she shot Nyxx a look before complying. “Shut up.”

Mio grabbed one of Sandy’s hands, and Yuki patted her on the back. Nyxx was surprised to see the previously rabid girl calm down, the tension in her shoulders visibly easing.

“Don’t worry Miss! We’ll take good care of you! Right Yuki?” Mio smiled, looking up at the girl.

“Yep! And you can count on us, Nyxx!” Yuki turned to him, giving a thumbs up.

He nodded, turning around and heading out of the automatic doors. With that, he was once again alone with his thoughts.

Not for long, thankfully. As soon as he reached the lobby, he spotted Dr. Stein sitting in a chair.

“Mister Stein, hello.” Nyxx awkwardly greeted.

“Heya, doin well, Nyxx?” He asked, the many stitches across his face moving as his mouth did.

“Yes sir, do you need something?”

“No, no. Just checking. You seemed really panicked when you arrived earlier, so I figured I’d check on ya. I know how your powers like to mess with your head sometimes so..” Stein explained, standing up and shoving his hands in his pockets.

“I’m okay, sir. Thanks though.” Nyxx replied, looking away.

Stein hummed, tucking a stray piece of black hair behind his ear. “Listen, kid, I don’t know why you’re so worried, but, keeping everything inside isn’t good. You know that. So, consider talking to someone, yeah? Ada or Red would do, even if Ada isn’t the best at feelings, she’d listen. Anyway, point is, talk about your feelings. Got it?”

“Yes sir.” Nyxx nodded, brushing off pretty much everything Stein said.

It didn’t matter what he did, if anyone, Red would just beat his feeling out of him. And, Red is the only person who’d actually understand. Ada would just lecture him, again.

The creak of a door opening drew Nyxx’s attention. Tsubaki came out of the room, looking a bit fatigued.

“Are you alright?” Nyxx worried, holding out a hand to steady her.

“I’m fine, Nyxx, that just took a bit more out of me than normal.”

“What’s the diagnosis?” Stein asked lazily.

Tsubaki inhaled, then began to speak. “Well, to sum it up, it seems she had some kind of ability-powered infection. It spread across her body quickly, and acted like electricity and gasoline. I assume that’s what set he body aflame, though I’m not sure why it didn’t just kill her.” Tsubaki explained, holding a hand to her chin, thinking. “I’ll have to run some tests, but for now, my power has done an excellent job at keeping her stable. She’s resting now.”

Nyxx sighed, relieved. Xen was okay. She was fine. No need to worry.

“You should get some rest, Nyxx. You’ve been pushing yourself rather hard these last couple of days, go eat something and then sleep.” Tsubaki insisted, placing a hand on his shoulder.

“No, I’m fine, really. I can stay—” Nyxx reassured, but was cut-off by the older woman.

“I’m sorry, that must’ve sounded like a suggestion. Nyxx, go eat something, take a bath, and sleep. Now. Doctor’s orders.” She smiled threateningly.

Gulping, Nyxx nodded and headed to the dorms. He may be on edge, but that was better than disobeying Tsubaki.

So, with much reluctance, Nyxx forced himself to do everything she ordered. Though his mind was strictly on Xen.

Was she really okay? Was she awake? Did she need something? Maybe he should go grab Sandy and tell her the news?

All these thoughts swarmed his head as he went along, finally reaching the bed of his dorm. Laying down, he stared at the ceiling. One of the tapestrys Ada had gifted him hung above, decorated in moon cycles and flowers. That was enough to get him to sleep, especially when his pet came in and began to snuggle.

Chimera, which was basically the same as it’s name, had the head of a lion (plus some horns), back feet of a goat, and a snake for a tail. As well as some fleshy wings that reminded Nyxx of a dragon. The little guy found a place against Nyxx’s chest, and immediately started snoring.

Nyxx huffed a laugh, pulling Chimera closer, then shutting his eyes.

When she woke up, Xen was instantly bothered by the amount of light on her face. Grumbling, her brows scrunched up and she squeezed her eyes closed.

“Sorry, is the sunlight bothering you?” A voice that sounded like honey asked.

Xen only nodded, not really capable of making her vocal cords work. She heard footsteps cross the room, and then the sound of curtains being pulled.

“Is that better?” The voice asked again.

Warily opening her eyes and blinking, Xen was the met with the sight of a rather comfy looking hospital room. And also, a very, very gorgeous woman.

Her black hair was tied into a bun, with two long pieces falling out and framing her face. Her eyes were a dazzling purple, and she wore a pink lab coat over a dark uniform.

Xen was in awe, just how could anybody be so beautiful?

“Pardon? Are you okay?” The woman asked again, closing her eyes with a perfect smile.

Xen nodded harshly, which spiked an intense headache. Holding her head, Xen once again heard footsteps and some clinking of objects. Then, the woman was sat on her bed.

“Here, drink this, it’s for migraines and headaches. It should make you feel much better.” She offered a cup of what seemed like pink lemonade.

She took it, drinking it carefully. It tasted like spring, and Xen wasn’t even joking.

“Good, right? I call is the Sakura Cure, named after my sister. From my own experience, taking medicine is a bit of a challenge, so I figured, why not find a way to make it enjoyable?” The woman shared, placing the cup on a across the room. “Then, I discovered that with the right sequence, I could mix flowers into the medication! That made it much easier, and I could rely less on my ability.”

Xen listened as the woman explained, not understanding a word of it but listening anyway. Ability? Flower medicine? Cool.

She decided that whatever had happened was probably fine, seeing as this lady wasn’t concerned in the slightest. But, curiosity suddenly stormed in and forced Xen to use her voice.

“What’s your name?” She asked, her tone garbled.

The woman looked to her, a bit shocked. “Ah, apologies. My name is Tsubaki, I’m the head doctor here.”

“Great, uh, where is here?”

Tsubaki chuckled, holding a hand to her mouth. “You’re at EDEN Academy, darling. We specialize in ridding the world of monsters, or, Ghouls, as we classify them.”

Xen stared in confusion, but ultimately decided on getting answers when her brain was working.

“Okay…” She slid back against the pillows, sleep overcoming her senses.

“Hm, yes, do get some rest. I’ll have Nanami bring you something to eat.”

Xen just nodded, not noticing any of changes in her body.

Like her hair, for example, which was a much brighter shade of green compared to the almost black color it was before. Her eyes were green as well, with only her pupils being dark. She also missed how much strength she gained, but she wouldn’t realize that for little while anyway.

HOLY SHIT THAT WAS CRAZY

Anyway, please enjoy, and stay hydrated. Don’t be like Sandy and not do the bare minimum of taking care of yourself!!

“So, you mean to tell me that in the span of one hour,” A voice says, holding up their pointer finger. “You served a guy named Nyxx, coffee, and then got saved by him from a giant mutant lizard-scorpion-whatever, and then he took you to the hospital?”

Nodding, Xen stared sheepishly at the person in front of her. “Yup, that about sums it up.”

The person in question was Xen’s friend, Sandy, who was treating her to a fast-food dinner after hearing about her hospital visit.

“Jeez, how’s that work? Did he just leave ya there?” Sandy asks, stuffing a fry into her mouth.

“No, no!” Xen denies, shaking her head. “He stayed until the doctor said I was good to go. Then he actually…drove me home?”

“What?!” Sandy exclaimed, slapping her hands on the table. “You let some random guy drive you to your house?!”

“He’s not random! And he was just doing it cause he was nice!”

Sitting back down barely containing herself, Sandy breathed deeply. Now, Xen was going to get an earful, as well as a long parental lecture about boys.

“Alright, alright. So, he saved you?”

Arching a brow, Xen answers hesitantly. “Yes?”

“And you sensed no ulterior motives?” Sandy questioned, looking Xen in the eyes.

“Of course not.” Xen replied, stern.

She may have only know him for a short while, but Xen could tell Nyxx was different. A good different. He saved her, went of his to get her help and make sure she got home. He was mysterious and a little standoffish, but he still did so much for her.

“Then…I guess there’s really nothing to worry about.” Sandy said, slumping back against the booth seat. “Just, call me next time you get into danger, alright? This city’s got a shit ton of problems, I don’t need you getting kidnapped by a league of evil-doers as one of them, got it?”

Sighing with relief, Xen nodded happily. “Will do, San! Anyway, wanna go see a movie? There’s this new one that just came out, it’s about like, aliens or something!”

“Yeah, sure.” Sandy agreed, pushing up from the table with Xen.

(Fifteen minutes earlier)

Smoke fills the air as a fire raged inside a burning building. Police and firefighters had rushed to the scene, conveniently not noticing a tall figure jump out of a third-story window.

“Didn’t I tell you not to make a mess this time”

Ada’s voice pierced through the comm, making Nyxx wince from the sound.

“It was tougher than expected.” He replied, landing on the sidewalk and easing through the crowds.

“Clearly! You knocked down a building, Nyxx!” Ada yelled.

“I didn’t knock it down,” Nyxx stated, turning into an alley. “That stupid Flame Ghoul was stronger than I realized. A lot stronger than Intel told us. Not my fault he’s a lousy informant.”

With ease, he climbed up an apartment buildings’ fire escape and landed on a roof.

Ada groaned and Nyxx could practically hear the pinching of her nose. “Listen, we just got another report that says those damn Imps are out and about again, so get to these coordinates and I’ll meet you there. We’ll talk about your…screw-up with the Sergeant later.”

“Whatever.” Nyxx replied, cutting the comm off.

He glanced at his wrist, where a fancy, high-tech looking watch set. A hologram appeared as he jumped from roof to roof, coordinates showing what looked to be a location not far from where he was.

Great, he thought, now I’ll get a lecture in person too.

Ada was sort of his superior, in a way. She was a third year at EDEN and had lots of experience under her belt. She was the one recruited him in the first place, actually.

However, that didn’t make her mom-ing any less annoying.

Xen hadn’t thought about that night very much. In fact, she’d barely thought about it at all! She had much more important things to worry about…

…is what she would have said, if her near-death experience plus also getting save by a really hot guy hadn’t totally turned her brain into mush.

When he brought her to hospital, he insisted he could pay for any expenses. She wanted to object, but she was also a poor, fresh-out-of-college graduate and had eight dollars to her name. Then after that, he insisted to take her home himself, as she could still possibly be in danger.

“I’ll get ya home, least I can do after all this. Oh, and…hold on..” He mumbled, pulling out a piece of paper and writing on it. “Here ya go, it’s my number. In case anything happens, call me. I’m not sure how that monster behaves yet, so it’s possible it might come after ya, so keep it handy.”

Did she keep the note and memorize it and reread it a million times? Maybe.

But she also didn’t have a phone, as she lost it on the train. She was mainly hoping nothing bad would happen, cause she definitely did not have a device to call him on. At the same time, though, she really wanted to see him again.

And who could blame her?

Nyxx was kind and strong, and very, very attracted. And you don’t get saved by those kinds of people everyday.

“Uh, hello, Earth to Xeeeennn?” Sandy said, snapping her fingers in the other’s face.

Flinching, Xen flashed back to the present and turned to Sandy, who looked a bit put-off.

“Oh, sorry, what were you saying? Is the movie starting?”

“Uh, no, it just ended.” Sandy furrowed her eyebrows. “Jeez, you can be such an airhead sometimes. Were you sleeping with your eyes open or somethin’?”

Noticing everyone else is in the theatre leaving, Xen felt a little embarrassed. Could she really be that distracted by Nyxx?

“Ugh, whatever. Let’s just go, I already see the cleaners rollin’ in. Come on.” Sandy took Xen’s hand, leading her to the doors.

They threw away the trash and walked into the lobby. Sandy waved to one of her friends working at the counter, then stretched and yawned.

“That movie was pretty good, all things considered. Hey, wanna come over tonight? We could paint our nails and talk about our crushes!” Sandy said, posing dramatically.

Xen laughed, covering her mouth. “I’d love to, but I’ve got the opening shift tomorrow. Maybe next time.”

“Ughhhhh, why do you work so much? Try living a little, Xen. Maybe going to a few parties might loosen you up.” Sandy poked at her, smirking.

“I’m perfectly fine the way I am. Besides, the whole life of the party slash laidback misfit is way more your style.” Xen stated, nudging the taller girl.

Sandy chuckled, stuffing her hands into her pockets. “Yeah, guess you’re right. No one can compare to my utter brilliance.”

Xen just laughed, pushing past the front doors and into the parking lot.

Approaching Sandy’s beat up, Scooby-Doo-style van, the girl’s are stopped by a scream.

“Look at that! In the sky!”

“What the hell?”

“Run!”

“Holy shit!”

Both Xen and Sandy turned to the commotion, noticing a large green object heading straight toward them.

Launching many expletives out of her mouth, Sandy ran to the van, hopping in and starting the engine.

“Oh crap, we gotta go! Gotta go gotta go gotta— Xen? Xen?! What the hell are you doing?! Hurry up!” Sandy commanded, shouting from her place in the driver’s seat.

But Xen was frozen, staring up at, whatever it was. She couldn’t move. This wasn’t like the fear she got from the lizard-mutant, no, this was way different. Not even her fight or flight response was kicking in. She was utterly helpless, and there was a sick feeling that she wouldn’t be saved this time.

Xen probably wouldn’t have even had enough time to call Nyxx, let alone find some way to communicate with him.

Another shout from Sandy came from the van, but Xen didn’t hear it. A weird static was filling her head, like the buzzing when a TV stops working right. It was all she could do to keep staring, to keep calm, to accept it.

Before she can think, however, Xen is yanked away before the green thing hits the ground.

(All the way on the other side of the city)

Nyxx strolled alongside as Ada led him through a warehouse. He, unfortunately, had to listen to another one of his upperclassmen’s tirades.

“Oh, and don’t even get me started on your lack of discipline! You think because your so strong that you can just run around all half-cocked and then get sympathy when you fail! Like, obviously! Did you not see him prioritize getting soda over killing the damn Leech Ghouls?!” Ada complained, stomping down the poorly-lit hallway. “What’s even worse, literally nobody calls you out on it! Not even Red or Stein! And Stein is the nit-pick of the century!”

Nyxx just rolled his eyes, leaning his head back to look at the ceiling. The only reason they were in this place was because they got a report of the Imp Ghouls running around terrorizing the place. Pain and Panic, loyal servants to that damned Devil.

“Ya know, I think you’re over-thinking this. I’m pretty sure the reason nobody gets on my ass about stuff is cause I make the right calls. Ya told me to save people, Ada.” Nyxx said, pointedly looking at the woman.

“Ugh, I know what I said, but that doesn’t mean you can just abandon missions. That Scorpious mutant is still out there, probably running around in the sewers. And I’m the one that gets blamed for it, remember? Cause everyone thinks you’re my protege. Bullshit..”

Nyxx only shrugged, all he had to do was bring down Ghouls and bring their souls to be exorcised or judged. It wasn’t his place to decide their fate, all he had to do was capture them.

Sure, maybe he wasn’t doing too good a job of that recently, but people still understood why.

He just wished Ada could as well.

For all her hot-headedness, Ada was very smart and talented. She was one of the top students at EDEN, and her combat skills were incredible. She claimed she could do anything, and so far, she made good on that claim. Out of most people at the academy, Ada was definitely one of his favorites.

Except for her nagging. That was one quality he could live without.

“Ada! Ada, do you read me?” A voice from her watch questioned, urgently.

“Intel? Yes, what’s up?” Ada stopped, putting a hand on her hip.

“Listen, I need both you and Nyxx to go to downtown, quick. Something big just exploded in a theatre parking lot and we’re not entirely sure what it is. We need you to get a read on the situation, hurry.”

“Shit, okay, I got it. We’re on our way.” Ada closed the call and swiftly turned around. “Nyxx, let’s go.”

Nyxx only nodded, breaking out into a run to follow her.

When Xen came to, her ears were ringing. Everything around her was a dizzying haze. All she could see what a greenish smoke, and what looked to be rubble on the ground. Something warm drips down her face and before Xen can register it, she’s being dragged across the ground.

“Dammit, Xen! Wake up! We need to go!” A distant voice yells, one she slowly recognizes as Sandy.

“S-Sandy?” She coughed, pain wracking throughout her body.

What happened? The last thing she remembered was leaving the theatre.

“Oh my god, holy shit, are you okay?” Sandy stopped, kneeling down to hold Xen steady.

“I—” Another cough, this one feeling worse than the last. “I don’t know.”

Sandy was in utter distress at this point, looking around wildly, shouting for help. But Xen couldn’t concentrate, there was this buzzing under her skin. Her head felt like it was on fire and being beaten like a drum at the same time.

Suddenly, flashes of memories fly into her mind. They aren’t her memories, though, she’s awake enough to know that. There was a picture of a desert, then a stark-white room with medical supplies everywhere, and then fire. Green fire, all around, everywhere. It consumed everything it touched, including people who looked like doctors or scientists. A sharp pain enters her head, along with what sounded like high-pitched screaming.

“Gah!” Xen shrieked, squeezing her hands over her ears.

“What? What’s wrong?” Sandy panicked.

Xen couldn’t answer. The burning feeling was worse, it felt like it was through her entire body now. The screaming only became louder as her muscles seemed to ignite more and more. Almost to the point of an exploding sensation.

She doesn’t know when it happened, but quickly, her entire body became enveloped in flames. Green fire, just like the memories. Just like the thing in the sky.

Her screams were agonizing now, and they mixed well with the ones in her mind.

Xen knew Sandy was freaking out, but she couldn’t stop it. Her entire being was in complete pain overdrive.

She can’t tell when it stops, when the screams go silent and the fire goes out. What she can tell is, is a cold darkness covering her. Whispers of something she can’t quite grasp, until she’s completely enthralled in darkness.

On the outside, there was Nyxx and Ada. Nyxx was cocooning Xen inside of shadows, seemingly stopping the flames. Hopefully.

“Is she alright?” Ada asked, standing above the scene with a grimace.

“I don’t know, it looked really bad.” Nyxx replied, his tone uncertain.

He hadn’t expected to see Xen again, especially not under such horrible circumstances. It had only been a week since her last brush of death, and he was certain she was out of residual danger.

Nyxx would be lying if he said he hadn’t thought about her. His mind had wandered to the girl a few times, wondering if she was alright. He’d ordered one of the EDEN cadets to keep an eye on her, in case that mutant came looking for her before he could find it. The whole reason he even gave her his number was so he could help her out if need be, so why hadn’t she called?

Was he too late?

Had he failed to save someone again? Someone counting on him?

Nyxx hated that feeling, it scared him.

“Is she gonna be okay?” A girl asked, rubbing her nose as tears ran down her face.

She must be a friend of hers, Nyxx noted in his head.

“I’ll do everything I can to help her, I swear.” Nyxx assured.

He wanted to say everything would be alright, but he couldn’t say that. Empty promises were much worse than harsh truths. All he could do now was try his best to save Xen.

Nyxx didn’t get very far, though, because something exploded out of the crater in the middle of the parking lot.

Both he and Ada quickly turned, standing to attention at…whatever the hell was crawling out of that thing. They looked like a bunch oozy slime balls, but he could see their exoskeletons, which were clearly made of metal.

“Now what in the hell…” Ada faltered, gagging at the way they moved. “They look like worms, but worse!”

Nyxx glared at the scene. The weird neon-colored worms kept coming out of the iron rock thing that blasted into the concrete. And they were also, forming? Into each other. Honestly, Nyxx just wanted to wipe them from the Earth immediately.

Summoning shadows, he turned them into spikes and shot them like arrows at the slime worms. They just consumed them, though.

“Well, fuck.” He swore, running out of ideas.

“Great, now I can put, defeating a giant slime monster on my list of accomplishments to hold over your head.” Ada cackled, unlocking her bo-staff and running at the things with swiftness.

Her efforts are in futile though, every hit just slides through the worms. Nyxx, whose great at multitasking, tries to figure out both what it is and how it can die.

“Okay, seriously, can we please get out of here?!” The other girl pleaded, yanking her hair in frustration.

“I need to help Ada, but how. I can’t just leave Xen…” Nyxx mutters to himself.

Ada continues her struggle with the slime monster, occasionally throwing rocks and car pieces at it.

“God! Why isn’t anything working?!” She shouts, grinding her teeth.

Nyxx doesn’t get a chance to do anything though, because the slime monster finishes forming. A loud roar emanates from its mouth, and now it looks more like a four-legged snake with multiple heads.

“Fucking fantastic.” Nyxx rolls his eyes.

“Shit, what should we do?!” The girl asks, causing Nyxx to turn back to her.

“You shouldn’t do anything, just get out of here. I’ll take care of Xen.”

“What?! No! I’m not— wait, how’d you know her name was Xen…?” The girl asked, looking at him with suspicion. “Wait a second. Tall, white hair, white coat, and an attitude…holy shit! You’re him!”

Nyxx stares, puzzled. What……?

His confusion is short lived, as a loud blast comes from the other direction. Ada, having jumped out of the way, barely missed being crushed by a slimey hand. It retracted back into the mass of ooze, which totally wasn’t gonna haunt Nyxx’s dreams or anything, and slowly came toward them.

Ada sprints back to him, barely needing to catch her breath. “Okay, okay, Nyxx, call backup. I have no idea how to kill this thing and it doesn’t seem like a typical Ghoul.”

Screeching from the monster interrupted him, though, as his attention is drawn yet again to the monster. Knives stick out of its green slime skin, but they don’t fall away, and seem to be extracting some kind of poison into it.

But just from the make of the knives, Nyxx knew exactly who it was.

Turning around, he was greeted by the sight of Red. In full EDEN uniform attire, he stood on the top of car, holding a spectacularly sharp knife.

“Red?!” Ada exclaimed.

“Intel told me you two might need some help, so here I am.” He spoke, his voice flat and monotone as usual.

“Hey, Red.” Nyxx nodded at him. “I assume you’ve got a plan?”

“The makings of one, why?” Red questioned, walking toward the group.

“Cause I need to get her to Tsubaki and the other girls at the school so they can heal her.” Nyxx stated, looking from Red to Xen, who was still wrapped in shadows.

“Right. Well, hurry it up. Ada and I can handle things here.” Red dismisses, walking past and gesturing Ada to follow. “Do be quick about it though, I can almost smell all the blood she’s lost.”

Nyxx winced, but hurried to pick Xen up and find the quickest way out.

“We’re taking her to a hospital, right?” Xen’s friend implored.

“Something like that, but we need a ride.”

“Ah. I have a van.” She states, pointing to a an almost replica of that one van from the ghost cartoon.

“Great, let’s go.” He rushes over, using a shadow to tank the back doors open.

The other girl jumps into the front seat, starting the van and pulling speeding out quickly.

Nyxx looks down, unveiling some of his shadows to see the girl. She was trembling, and her face was scrunched up in discomfort. Vein-like lines trailed from her eyes to her neck, like an infection. Nyxx didn’t know much about human diseases, but green stuff on the face really shouldn’t be there.

His arms instinctually tighten around the girl, a feeling of both anger and worry settling over him.

“Don’t worry, Xen. You’ll be alright, I’ll make sure of it.”

☆midnight meet-cute☆

The light-sounding music playing on the speakers contrasted from the gloomy storm outside. Behind the counter of a coffee shop, Xen busied herself with a dirty mug while humming along to the rhythm. It was long into the night, and she had unfortunately been persuaded into a double-shift at work.

Now, with all but ten minutes of her shift, Xen was excited to finally leave. Not that her place of work was bad, it’s just, work is exhausting! Regardless of the kind! She tapped a little to the Christmas song, smiling a bit as she mumbled over the lyrics. This time of year was nice, when things were a bit less tense. Her teachers let up on the homework load, albeit just a little cause finals were coming up, and she could actually relax some.

Just her luck though, because of course a last-minute customer comes in.

The customer in question was a taller guy. His white hair a mess from taking his motorcycle helmet off. He wore a long white coat with a fur collar, which Xen found strange but not completely out-of-place. He walked up to the counter, his eyes trained on the menu above her.

Holding in a sigh, Xen put on her best customer service voice and greeted the boy.

“Welcome, what can I get you tonight?” Xen asked, straining a smile.

The boy looked at her, as if just now realizing she was there. “Oh, just a black coffee, please.”

“Of course.” She nodded, reciting the steps of making the order in her head. “Pretty brutal weather we’re having, right?”

The boy did a double-take and kind of awkwardly shuffled in place. “Uh, yes.”

Xen, reading the room, quickly turned away and focused on her task. Clearly the boy wasn’t interested in idle conversation, and Xen was not going to encourage it. Her co-worker already left all she wanted to do was go home and sleep.

Putting on the lid of the cup, Xen slid the drink toward the boy and rang up his order. He quickly paid without a word and left. And so did she, though she had to clean up the coffee machine. Again.

A few minutes later, Xen locked the front doors and stepped out into the windy storm. She threw on her hood and steadily walked down the city streets. She began the long trek to the subway station, as winter in this city was never kind, Xen almost slipped a total number of seven times.

Nobody was out on the streets at this time, at least not in this part of the city. But for some reason, Xen couldn’t help but feel a little on edge. Playing with the house keys in her pocket, Xen tried to calm herself. It was most likely because of nerves at being out so late. Nothing to worry about.

And she stuck with that, for all of about ten minutes.

Reaching the station, Xen waited by the platform and started scrolling through her phone. This was mistake number one, ie, not paying attention to her surroundings. Mistake number two was not acknowledging the distant crash sound coming from the subway tunnel. She’d glanced up but figured it was nothing, if not just some rats or something. Mistake number three was getting on the subway.

Three strikes, you’re out.

Once they started moving, Xen felt something move the train. It was small, but not small enough to just ignore. It wasn’t like the typical rough movements expected from the subway, no, this was different.

She looked around, and there was a louder thump. This time, it shook the whole car, reverberating into her own. Xen gripped the iron bar beside her, looking to the back of the subway. Her finger hovered over the 911 button, and her leg bounced with anxiety and anticipation.

However, before she could react, something huge crashed right through the train. For a few seconds, Xen watched as the creature crushed the car with ease. After those seconds were over, though, all she felt was adrenaline and fear.

The train came to a violent stop and Xen was thrown out of her seat, hitting her head on one of the metal poles.

Regaining consciousness seconds later, Xen pushed herself up, trying to decipher what was happening around her. Her ears were ringing and there was a fuzziness in her head. She looked around, noting the very big gap between her car and the next one over. Slowly, Xen crawled towards the opening, peering around the edge.

There was a large corridor beside the tracks, and she could hear lots of banging and crashing coming from it.

All she wanted was to lay there and wait for help, or maybe even try navigating the complex subway system. But after brief consideration of both, Xen came to the conclusion that she was not in the right state to look around. She’d either end up lost or get mugged by some junkie.

Making up her mind, Xen focused herself and hopped from the train floor to the rail beneath it. The ground was ripped apart and many pieces of the iron subway car laid strewn about the tunnel. But that wasn’t enough to discourage her.

No, Xen wanted to go home. But to make that happen she needed a way out. And what better way than to follow the people who caused your situation in the first place?

“Ugh..” Xen groaned, walking toward the long corridor.

Using the sounds of fighting to lead her, eventually leading her to a large drop off. The area was well-lit by construction lights, which allowed her to see the two fighting.

The large creature from earlier, who seemed like some kind of lizard-scorpion hybrid, was attacking a person. Not an ordinary person, though. The one fighting back was riding a motorcycle, occasionally shooting at it with a whispy-looking gun. Whoever it was wearing a long white coat and a helmet…

Wait…

Didn’t they look kind of familiar?

She can’t finish her thought unfortunately, because the lizard-scorpion suddenly stopped. Snapping its head toward her, the creature roared and weird-looking fan things spread out from its neck. It sort of reminded her of that one dinosaur from Jurassic Park.

Then, it started running toward her.

“Oh shit!” Xen shouts, jumping from the realization and looking around wildly for an escape route.

That doesn’t get her anywhere though, because the thing jumps toward her. Opening its gigantic mouth, Xen has a second to see the hundreds of teeth lining it’s jaws. Frozen, Xen can’t help but watch as it gets closer, and closer. Until, finally, she’s broken out of it by a quick motion.

In a matter of seconds, Xen was grabbed around the waist and thrown on the back of a motorcycle.

“Hang on!” The person commanded, and Xen followed along.

She did not want to add “falling off a motorcycle while being chased by a monster” as one of her bucket-list bullet points.

The person- no, guy? Man? Boy?

Boy…

Boy.

Boy!

Noticing the fur of his coat and the white color of the rest flying wildly in the air, Xen realized who this was.

“Hey! You’re the guy who ordered the coffee!” She yelled, trying to see the front of the boys’ helmet.

He gave her a quick glance, ignoring her statement and amping up the speed.

Xen, for all her bravery, tightened her arms around the boy’s waist. She dared to glance back, spotting the monster following them around the wide space, fast.

It got close once, snapping its razor-sharp jaws at them and the boy sped up even quicker.

“Uh, what are you doing?” Xen asked once she noticed the very big ramp thing they were heading for. “Uhm, hey, guy, dude?! What the hell are you— OH MY GOD!” She screamed.

“Don’t let go!” He yelled back, throttling the engine with one of the bike’s handlebars.

They reached the climax of the ramp, and very much ran off it, flying into the air. Xen held on, more out of fear than anything, and she squeezed her eyes shut. She didn’t open them until she felt a thump instead of a crash and burning sensation.

She peeked one eye open, looking around until realizing they were driving away from the monster. He was heading down a corridor similar to the one she came from, at very high speeds. They drove for what felt like forever before the chilly night air hit her, and suddenly they were on the surface again.

The boy drove quickly and carefully, somehow, and took her to the bay of the city.

She got off as soon as they stopped, her legs feeling like jello, Xen sat on the curb of the road. Now that the adrenaline had worn off, her head was pounding like crazy, she could practically feel her heart pumping blood into her brain.

Muffled talking made its way into Xen’s ears, and she turned to look at the boy.

He was on the phone with a very tired look on his face. “Yeah..yeah I know. I didn’t get to finish it off, some civilian from the subway was there. I had to rescue her—what? What do you mean “why?” I rescued her because it’s my job?”

He grimaced, confused and annoyed. “Yes, it is my job, Ada. It’s yours too, by like, law or something.”

He continued to argue with Ada(?) on the phone until finally hanging up. Running a hand through his hair, the boy finally looked to Xen. Her heart skipped a bit, when their eyes met. His gaze was cold, but gentle.

She cleared her throat, standing up and meeting his eyes, not really though. This guy had like three feet on her at most.

“Sooooooo..” She trailed off, not finding any words to describe what had happened. Or any questions to ask.

She just really wanted to go home.

“Are you okay?” The boy sighed. “Nothing bleeding or broken?”

“Ah, no, I don’t think so. I hit my head earlier though, so maybe like, a minor concussion? I dunno, I’m not a doctor.” Xen laughed nervously, shivering from the cold.

Once again, the boy sighed, and then took off his coat. “Here, you’re freezing.”

Her eyes widened, and the slightest bit of heat rose to her face.

“I— oh, thanks.” She stumbled, letting him pull it around her shoulders.

“No problem.” He shrugged. “We should you get to a doctor, make sure you’re really okay. That cool?”

Meeting his eyes again was a struggle, his gaze was piercing and without exhaustion or adrenaline clouding her mind, Xen found him a little hard not to admire. His face seemed carefully crafted, almost perfect, except for the slight crookedness of his nose.

“Yes, I guess that’s fine.” She finally spoke.

“Alright, get on.” He nodded to the bike. “Oh, and wear this.”

The black helmet was placed into her hands, and Xen had about two seconds to process before he was turning on the bike and revving the engine. Swiftly, she secured the helmet and got on behind the other.

“By the way, what’s your name?” He asked.

“Xen! Yours?” She raised her voice over the loud engine.

“Nyxx. Ready?”

“Yep.”

And with that, Xen sat as Nyxx drove her into the night, and she wasn’t going to lie, she was feeling excited.

Maybe things would be different, this time.

This pièce de résistance is for my bro @3xen who asked me for this in the utmost respectful way. By threatening me.

Jk jk, love you bro, hope you enjoy this!

Wearing Each Other’s Clothes- flufftober prompt!

A soft melody sounded out from a record player, causing the girl to hum as she flipped the page of her book.

Sophie sat in the windowsill of her room, entranced to the novel she started only hours before. It had become somewhat of a habit, when things got too much for her, Sophie would retreat to the safety of her room to decompress. And, oh, how that strategy always seemed to work.

Fortunately, this wasn’t one of those times where she was overwhelmed. She’d just woken up on the wrong side of the bed, in a way. However, to combat the annoying problem at hand, Sophie recalled some things Dex had told her.

“If you ever need to calm down, just do something you like. I always play Animal Crossing when I get overwhelmed.” Dex stated, munching on a candy bar. “Like, I’m typically a Mortal Kombat kind of guy, but sometimes I don’t need to stress about beating some character in a game, y’know?”

He was right. It kind of ticked Sophie off, a bit. Dex had a way with being right about the most obvious things, yet Sophie still needed a flashing light in her face to even get clue!

Anyway, she took his advice.

Eda had come up to check on her, since she hadn’t said much when Sophie came down to eat breakfast. She was worried, that much was clear, and Sophie appreciated it. The blonde had explained via note that she needed to have some “me-time” before she became a functional member of society again. And like the Angel she is, Edaline completely understood.

“Okay honey! Text me if you need anything, I love you!” She wrote in reply.

Sophie smiled at the words, sliding an “I love you” note back under the door before returning to her perch.

Another detail that made all the difference, was what she was wearing. The baggy sweatshirt was normal, but it wasn’t hers. You see, this particular hoodie belonged to her boyfriend, Keefe. They’ve been dating for months, six months almost. But this was the first time Sophie ever unconsciously wore something of Keefe’s. At least, until she finally noticed.

She’d remembered another thing Dex said, about eating comfort food and wearing comfort clothes. Sophie hadn’t really understood at the time, but she was starting to now.

Sophie was in the middle of a paragraph when she recognized a smell. One of vanilla and coffee. Sophie sniffed the air, wondering if her boyfriend had somehow managed to sneak another personalized air-freshener into her room, when she looked down. The hoodie itself was a midnight blue with some light-colored wording. Sophie sniffed again, and it was stronger.

She was a bit confused, any other day Sophie would have surely noticed the change of clothing. Perhaps it was because of the weird feeling she’d had all day, putting her into a slight funk. Or maybe, Dex was right, and clothing could bring comfort.

She didn’t have long to think about it before her door was being knocked upon. A familiar tune, something that a certain someone always used to be endearing. The blonde had half a mind to ignore it and continue reading, as she was still down in the dumps. But, she also remembered how dejected Keefe looked the last time she left him waiting outside like a stray.

With a sigh, Sophie reluctantly sat up and walked over to the door, her feet dragging as her body felt heavy like cement. Opening the door, Sophie couldn’t help but feel her heartbeat speed up for a second.

Keefe stood there with a goofy grin, armed with bags of what Sophie could only assume were snacks. However, her attention was attracted to Keefe’s shirt.

Or, more specifically, her shirt.

It fit nicely on him, despite his lengthy frame. Sophie silently thanked her past-self for always picking bigger sizes of shirts.

Suddenly, there was a tap on her shoulder, and Sophie looked up. Keefe, in all his glory, smiled down at her and lifted a brow.

“You good, Foster?” He asked, and Sophie quickly had the realization that he’d been speaking the entire time.

Clearing her throat, Sophie mustered up a pathetic “yes” in response.

Keefe hummed, nodding and then gesturing to her room. “May I come in, my lady?” He requested in a terrible British accent.

“Ha, yeah.” Sophie huffed out a laugh, moving to let him through the door. “Do my parents know you’re here?”

“If you mean Mrs. Ruewen, yes. If you’re talking about Mr. Macho Man himself, then no. Pretty sure you’re Mom said something about him feeding the bulls in the pasture…?”

Sophie smiled and rolled her eyes, the petty little feud between her boyfriend and her Dad had been long-standing, since before they even got together. Grady wasn’t very appreciative of Keefe’s troublemaker and carefree attitude, and Keefe just loves pushing other people’s buttons. So, clearly, it was a recipe for disaster.

Sophie closed the door, sauntering up beside Keefe as he laid out all the snacks on the bed.

“Hey.” She muttered, looking up to his eyes.

“Hi.” He replied back, his eyes crinkling as he smiled at her.

Again, Sophie’s heart rate sped up a little. She wasn’t embarrassed, she just, always felt floaty when Keefe looked at her. Especially with such a warm expression.

“What’re you doing here?” Sophie asked, sitting next to the pile of food on the bed.

Keefe puffed up, his face turning every shade but chivalrous. “Well, a little birdie told me you weren’t having a good day. And, since I’m a loving boyfriend and loyal partner, I took it upon myself to try and make you’re day a bit better. So, ta da!”

Sophie nodded in response, unwrapping a small Snickers and popping it into her mouth.

“A little birdie?”

“Jolie and Amy.” He admitted, with no hesitation. “Two little birdies then, I guess. But, they were worried and figured that, me being me, I could cheer you up the best.”

She smiled, swallowing the candy and standing up. “That’s nice. Thank you, Keefe.”

On her tip-toes, Sophie pecked the taller’s lips, already feeling much better than before. Still a bit gloomy, though.

Keefe didn’t waste any time, however. In one swift motion, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pressed a soft kiss to Sophie’s lips. Recovering from the shock quickly, Sophie returned the gesture and embraced him, her arms around his neck.

“Mm, you’re lips taste like chocolate.” Keefe points out, licking his lips and glancing up, as if to savor it.

Sophie smiled, a thing she seems to do a lot around him. “Yeah? Well, you smell really good, so.”

“Really? You like it? I got it from Linh, she said it matched my vibe, or something.”

She was right, vanilla and coffee really worked with Keefe’s personality.

“Anyway, is that my shirt?” Sophie asks, bluntly.

“Huh? Oh, yeah! I found it in my bag, must’ve gotten mixed in last time I was here. I actually started listening to these guys. Green Day, right? Yeah, they’re pretty good.” Keefe rambled.

It was one of things Sophie loved about him. His ability to just, talk. She also felt warm because, well, he started listening to one of her favorite bands! Just because of a shirt!

Quickly, Sophie pecked his lips again and then untangled herself from him.

“Feel better?” He inquired, blinking over at her.

“A little. Wanna watch a movie?”

“Heck yeah, lemme make some room real quick.” Keefe shoved the snacks into the plastic bags, setting them on the nightstand and hopping onto the bed.

Sophie brought her laptop over, as well as a weighted blanket and a fluffy one.

“Thank ya darlin.” Keefe teased in a country accent.

Sophie giggled and sat down, pulling the blanket over her and passing the other to Keefe, who gladly wrapped himself up in it. She opened the computer and thought about what to watch.

A few minutes later and they decide on A Nightmare Before Christmas, one movie they both could watch endlessly.

Keefe wrapped an arm around Sophie, pulling her closer and nuzzling his face into her hair. Her face heated up a bit at the affection, she was still getting used to it. Despite the length of their relationship, Sophie was still adjusting to physical affection. Though, she got over the embarrassment of it, now it was just feeling flustered.

“Oh, also..” Keefe spoke up. “That hoodie looks really good on you.”

Almost instantly, Sophie’s face exploded into a overheated mess of a red.

Okay, maybe she was still a little embarrassed.
