Random headcanon for a TMA AU: in a non-changed world where Jon is trying to balance his humanity with not starving to death, he teams up with Oliver Banks to find his 'food.' They'll go on long walks together with Jon following the pull of a statement and Oliver seeing who has black tendrils tied around them. There's a surprising amount of overlap (perhaps those who have had true encounters with the Entities are more likely to meet an early End?) and, well, if Jon has to eat and eating has to leave the victim with nightmares of reliving their trauma... best to dump that on someone who'll only live a few more days, right? :/

Bonus humor times: Martin catches wind of these outings with no context attached and is just: [cracking tea mug with the force of his jealous fury] "I'm sorry, are they on a fucking date?"

I want one of those scenes in a dude bro film where “tomboy” chick has to wear a dress to go undercover or whatever, but instead of the guys drooling as she walks down the stairs, they’re like “k. GOING RABID OVER ARCHIVIST MARTIN WITH ASSISTANT JON JUST THROWING HIMSELF HEADFIRST INTO DOING WHATEVER PLAN MARTIN HATCHES

Possibly unpopular opinion, I don't think Sasha would make a good Archivist or at least not in the way Gertrude was hoping she would be. Sasha is too similar to Jon when it comes to self preservation and is too aligned with the Eye.

Out of all the original archival crew the one that would most successfully fill Gertrude's role is probably Martin and here's my reasoning.

• Gertrude and Martin relied on people underestimating them as a strategy.

• Martin has been able to catch Elias off guard/get a drop on him multiple times.

• not Eye aligned so less likely to fall to curiosity.

• S5's "kill bill".

• burning the statements.

• was able to survive the horrors and find creative solutions.

If I think of more I'll add it.
