I've noticed that despite all the crew having consistent internal monologues highlighted at some point in the anime, I can't think of one instance Luffy has had one so far (in Arlong Park arc at least)
Which leads me to think A) his head is empty there are no thoughts going on in there B) he just says exactly what he's thinking at all times or C) even they couldn't work out what was going on in Luffy's head
The funniest example of this is when the villagers come back when the Buggy pirates are defeated and ask Who are you and what happened to our Mayor????
And Nami is having the death note style monologue of weighing up every pro and con and possible outcome of what to say and then it switches to Luffy who immediately says We're pirates! :D I knocked out the mayor! :D
rewatched pieces of water 7 recently and i honestly adore that nami kept stealing cp9’s handcuff keys. such a “small” detail (relative) in a such a major character development/power-scaling/worldbuilding arc but it means sooo much to me. since then, i’ve been lamenting the fact that nami’s cat burgler habits have been left to the wayside in recent arcs (can’t remember the last time she committed plot-relevant petty theft?) only to realize that i am the fool. i am the blind one
my girl fucking. stole zeus from big mom.
Sometimes i think about this op color spread and how luffy wears a shirt with "good shoes take you to good places" written on it, and zoro wears an apron with "good shoes" written on it.
Tbh i'm pretty sure oda just wanted to be a lil bit silly(?) here for a sec, but if i reallyy think about it... even with zoro's gag: his (lack of) sense of direction, when luffy's with zoro... they always end up where they are supposed to be? (also luffy always has the most fun when he's adventuring with zoro) So i genuinely think that "the good shoes (zoro) take you (luffy) to good places" is not entirely too far of a stretch??
And also about this other color spread.. luffy wears a coat with "every drop in the ocean counts" written on it, while zoro wears a coat with "made ripple" written on it. And well... you know what they say, "a single drop though falls into an ocean, it will cause a ripple"
Idk but i just love how sometimes they are complementing each other even through their attires?? (Let it be that the words written on their clothes are connected to one other, or something like this)
Like i just think that it's truly insane how they really complement each other?? either literally speaking (like their personalities or principles in canon) or metaphorically (like with their attires, their fav things (meat+beer), and many other things) Sometimes i think they really are like two puzzle pieces that fit together perfectly... like there really can't be the captain of the strawhats without a first mate or a first mate without the captain. What would they be without each other really? like without ever meeting each other luffy's life would've been a whole lot different and vice versa
This is so funny to me
Has anyone else noticed how much faster Ace clicks with characters who have daddy issues? And sometimes without him even knowing. Like with Deuce and Yamato it took less than a day (maybe even Sabo when they first met) for them to become best buddies
And then there are the other characters like Luffy, Jimbei, and Whitebeard who had to go through his murder attempts for a good while before he deemed them safe for a normal relationship
Bro has an instinct for it
Firm believer that since Luffy crashed into Zoro's life he refuses to enter it any other way now
You can find this pinned to the wall of the kitchen on the Thousand Sunny.
Nobody knows who put it there, it just showed up one morning.
I FOUMDH IT
Happy pride month to the tiny cowboy and tiny Trojan man from Night at the Museum
The restraint on Oda's part to wait nearly 500 chapters to drop this line is incredible.
Irreplaceable
Sanji’s still working through his self worth issues, but that’s okay, Luffy’s here to beat anything up to make sure his cook feels loved!
