The Doctor + being taunted by the Master
1. sending a catfish photo when he was catfishing her as O 2. hacking the satnav to send a message (and to kill the driver) 3. calling the Doctorโs TARDIS ridiculous as O 4. making his TARDIS look like the Doctorโs one & putting โhahahaโ instead of โPublic police boxโ on it 5. defacing Earth art by putting his face into various famous paintings 6. whatever that Rasputin dance was
this will be my last confession: i love you never felt like any blessing.

on one hand there's something psychologically fascinating about the doctor, who prides themselves on their cleverness, being enraptured by the master's mind. even when the master is disguised as o or yana, the doctor is immediately drawn to them and is even deferential to them, sitting at their feet and wanting more than anything to learn from them. because as egotistical as the doctor can be, the one person to whom they are always willing to hear from is their avowed enemy.
on the other hand it's like. wow the doctor really might as well have big ol' letters saying TOP ME stenciled across their forehead huh.
aww this is one of my favourite episodes of 3โฒs era.. joโs leaving had been teased time and time again, whenever someone fancied her and asked her to stay with them, sheโd regrettably sayย โnoโ bc she still had so much to see with the doctor and couldnโt possibly leave her planet but here, she finally finds a reason to stick around and itโs so lovely to watch. i still miss her terribly though :(
ten minutes into jo grants last episode and im already tearing up!!! itโs so clear that sheโs pulling away from the doctor to seek out her own passions and heโs so proud of her but also!!! he doesnโt want her to!!! heโs not ready to lose her!!!
this feels so much more like the modern companion send offs Iโm used to, the way itโs eased into, the way you can see the companions character arc coming to its close, the way the doctor helps assuage the audiences sadness and resistance to change by expressing the same feelings himself :,)
contender for the funniest bit of supernatural dialogue
