Hey guys, if you don’t know, I’m a professional Background designer, and my friend Max is a Character designer. We’ve both worked for Rick and Morty and other studios including Dreamworks and Disney.
We made a YouTube channel Dedicated to redrawing viewer submitted art work! we want you to send us art. and we will redraw it from the perspective of animation professionals. and we’ll make a cool video about it!

This is suuuper bare bones but this is basically how I make space. The great thing about space is that there’s really no right or wrong way to go about it- depending on the style- just pepper in some stars / as little or as much color as you want and BLAM- space also to note (cos I’m silly and forgot to add):
step 1 is base layer
step 2-5 is all one layer
step 6-7 in one layer
step 8 is one (optional) layer
(also layer effects and references are your friend.)
(also also the other brush I used was the Uneven layering brush right above the one I have circled) I hope this helps!
