Donned in black outer robes, inner whites, with a dark blade fastened to his side, the Plum Blossom Sword Saint steps onto the courtyard under the gaze of the people, a single arm held behind his back. Tailing his flank flocks a generation of young disciples. For such an age, they should be cowering behind his shadow, full of uneasy eyes and tight jaws, but instead, they stand tall—as if trying to imitate the unwavering trunk of the plum tree in front of them.

more of my “mafia” au ig with:

- luffy & zoro being childhood friends before the creation of the strawhats family

- zoro being more of a babysitter than an actual bodyguard

- luffy sitting on zoro’s shoulder because he likes being tall

- featuring luffy beating the crap outta other gangs and accidentally gaining territory and followers 

- people always underestimating luffy because hes thin and short until they literally get their asses handed to them

- gangs thinking roronoa “demon hunter” zoro is the leader and not the happy go lucky strawhat-wearing kid beside him 

- luffy accidentally creating a grand network of connections between various gangs, the law enforcement, and even a terrorist group just from being a cool dude 

- zoro usually only fighting with one sword because luffy doesnt want to get off his shoulder (often cause luffys in the middle of eating something). this habit resulted in zoro becoming ambidextrous 

- luffy using brass knuckles 

- luffy & zoro rooftop parkouring (both have fallen into dumpsters multiple times) 

- both didnt know how to do basic first aid before luffy snatched up Chopper—a med student—so they have a bunch of stolen bandaids (luffy likes the ones with sparkles)

I think that at first glance, 20 years is a long time, yeah, but if you really think about it -

20 years is an entire lifetime. In 20 years, parents see their kids, babbling and waddling, grow into adults who pay their own taxes. 20 years ago, the One Piece manga was at Skypiea. 20 years ago, it was 2003 - I wasn't even born then, so just imagining spending that long looking for someone you don't even know is alive - what does that do to a person wink wink

Ugh your Sanji gets me so teary eyed 😭. He's always been lower of my strawhat list bc of his horrible pervert gag, tho wci did bump him up a lot. But fics like yours just really encapsulate some of his best traits: caring, loyal to a fault, and slowly discovering his self worth 😭. AND HES SO SOFT FOR LUFFY.

This kills me for many reasons but...can you imagine how long it probably took Sanji to get used to not making a feast practically everyday just for one person?? Or that whenever he discovers a new recipe he thinks about whether Luffy would like it (the answer is always yes). I wonder if there was ever a tinge of regret that he didn't stay just one more minute. AHH I want them to adventure together forever so chopper better get his butt in gear 😭. Tho Luffy 1000% needs to be the first one to go so maybe just give him a few more years bc I constantly live in fear of smth like One Piece: Next Generations happening. Anyways sorry for the long ramblings but ur fics are just so heart wrenching sweet 😭

Alabasta, Enies Lobby, and Whole Cake Island Sanji is peak. Thriller bark to Dressrosa Sanji—THAT'S HIM OFFICER 🫵 That version of him does not exist to me. I wish Oda toned the pervert/nosebleed gag down. He deserves better.

SANJI IS LITERALLY SO SOFT FOR LUFFY THOUGH—they captured it so well in the live action, I was screaming the whole time they had interactions. The Luffy & Sanji dynamic is too good; a glutton and his cook.

Can you imagine him without Luffy? Sanji makes extra portions. He still has a lock on the fridge. When he's cooking, he expects to hear the flop of sandals at any moment. He sleeps through the night without being woken. It's old habits and new silence—the way parents return home, expecting loud noise and greetings and trouble, even if their kids moved out years ago.

I WAS TALKING ABOUT OP: NEXT GENS JUST RECENTLY. I do not want a Monkey D. Buffy, please. I don't want Luffy to get a dad hair cut. I am begging you, Oda.

AH your response really makes me want to write a fic where luffy is immortal via the surgery. He watches his crewmates grow older and accomplish their dreams, all of them trying their best to live without regrets despite the inevitable. When all is said and done it's only luffy and the sunny, remnants of bygone days, while the world steadily grows past the need for pirates and marines 😭. Luffy sticks around so he can be with the reincarnation of his loved ones, who always somehow find their way back to him, though they're never all alive at the same time again (or at least for a very very long time) 😭

Okay okay, IF it's an immortal!Luffy route where all the Straw Hats are reincarnated - my heart can take that, because he can just find them again and he won't be alone throughout eternity. I can just imagine each and every one of the Straw Hats laying eyes on this silly guy in a straw hat and going, I know you. THAT EVEN IF IT'S ANOTHER LIFE, EVEN IF THEIR MEMORIES HAVE BEEN WIPED, THEIR SOULS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TIED TO LUFFY AND WILL ALWAYS KNOW HIM - WILL ALWAYS LOVE HIM, AND THEY WOULD FIND EACH OTHER LIKE TWO SHIPS IN FOG.

Please let me know if you write this idea - I will bawl my eyes out and never be the same after
