Ten Questions for Writers

1. how many works do you have on ao3?

I joined in 2017 and I have 14 works!!! That number would probably be higher if I didn't chicken out on posting.

2. what’s your total ao3 word count?

111,897 words! My longest fic is only 31,000 words—but I fully intend to break that record.

3. what fandoms do you write for?

One Piece! I don't think I'll ever stop writing for it; there's just so much potential. As of this exact moment, I'm writing for ROTTMNT, but I also have a lot of small snippets written for other small fandoms (which will never see the light of day).

4. do you respond to comments? why or why not?

I love responding to comments! Reading them always make me so giddy and I'm a certified yapper. I will literally talk forever once I get past the shy phase of being known and perceived.

5. have you ever had a fic stolen?

Fortunately, no—not that I know of. Knock on wood!

6. have you ever co-written a fic before?

Nothing that's been posted! I'm working (was working?) with a friend on an AU of One Piece, but we're both busy and procrastinators, so that's going to take a bit. I'd definitely be down to co-write more in the future! I think it'd be so fun.

7. what’s your all-time favourite ship?

Honestly, I don't really have a favourite ship? If I did, it'd probably be Zolu or Sanlu from One Piece, but I find I always lean more toward the platonic side of things.

8. what are your writing strengths?

Oh, geez. This is like that common quiz question, "How do your friends perceive you?" and my answer to both is I don't exactly know? I'd like to say my strength is writing emotionally-tense arguments or capturing nostalgia, but I'm more confident in saying I'm good at writing Second Person POV. (I would also like to think I'm pretty great at brainstorming fic titles.)

9. what are your writing weaknesses?

EXPOSITION. PACING. FORESHADOWING. I don't fully get exposition—I just yap and hope it makes sense. Pacing... I never know if I'm going to fast or slow—if I'm speed-running or dragging. It's a whole struggle for me. Foreshadowing!!! I rarely ever finish the entire fic before posting, so I always lose my mind trying to connect things from previous chapters to the current ones. Oh. And vocab. My vocabulary is very limited, even with thesaurus opened on another tab.

10. first fandom you wrote for?

I think—but don't quote me on this—it was a crossover between Fairy Tail and One Piece. Crossovers have always held a soft-spot in my heart. I think that's why I enjoy Outsider POV so much; I need people reacting to my favourite characters!!!

YOUR WUXIA LUFFY IS SO GOOD. He's such a qt pie that he'd gather friends while unknowingly creating the most vast and loyal sect in the world 😭. Zoro would somehow find a way to be even more loyal and protective than in canon.

Though imagine xianxia luffy?? Considering g5, he would be some kind of celestial being that had been cursed to human form.

You know how some people never clean the rooms of their passed loved ones? I can see the strawhats trying their best to do the same on the sunny. Like a fishing rod left on the deck, an unmade hammock, and a beetle collection, all untouched. Maybe they tell themselves it's because they know Luffy will want to pick up where he last left off when he returns but really they want to preserve anything they have left of him.

more of my “mafia” au ig with:

- luffy & zoro being childhood friends before the creation of the strawhats family

- zoro being more of a babysitter than an actual bodyguard

- luffy sitting on zoro’s shoulder because he likes being tall

- featuring luffy beating the crap outta other gangs and accidentally gaining territory and followers 

- people always underestimating luffy because hes thin and short until they literally get their asses handed to them

- gangs thinking roronoa “demon hunter” zoro is the leader and not the happy go lucky strawhat-wearing kid beside him 

- luffy accidentally creating a grand network of connections between various gangs, the law enforcement, and even a terrorist group just from being a cool dude 

- zoro usually only fighting with one sword because luffy doesnt want to get off his shoulder (often cause luffys in the middle of eating something). this habit resulted in zoro becoming ambidextrous 

- luffy using brass knuckles 

- luffy & zoro rooftop parkouring (both have fallen into dumpsters multiple times) 

- both didnt know how to do basic first aid before luffy snatched up Chopper—a med student—so they have a bunch of stolen bandaids (luffy likes the ones with sparkles)

im just imagining - during the 20 year wait for Luffy, one of the strawhats get into a life-or-death scenario

and they wonder if they should just

let it happen - that this is the end of the road for them but arent mad about it because maybe luffys waiting for them. maybe after all this time, theyll see him again

and the others have to convince them to keep fighting and the only reason why they do is because of luffys words from a long long time ago

Ok what's worse: the strawhats waiting a lifetime for luffy to return to them, or luffy becoming immortal and outliving everyone he cares about?

The first scenario reminds me of that Bojack Horseman quote, "Was it worth it to be happy for a little bit even though it ended up sad? Or would it have been better if the whole thing never happened?" I think this isn't as bad as the immortality scenario because the Straw Hats have each other to lean on, and if they reach the end of their life without Luffy returning, maybe they'll be happy—thinking that Luffy's waiting on the other side for them.

I think immortality is one of the cruelest punishments you could put on someone, especially Luffy, considering his unique relationship with death. It's one of the OP endings I hope Oda doesn't use (through Law's Devil Fruit power).

Grief is something you don't get over. It'll always be there, but you grow to live with it. Knowing Luffy, he'd find new people to love and journey with, but they'd leave him all the same, and loneliness is Luffy's greatest weakness. I don't want to imagine this kind of torture on him.
