I'm exited every time I see Riyo Chuchi because she is such a good person (and character).

But I had the horrifying realisation that she could die in Bad Batch season 3. Because as far as I'm aware she doesn't appear in anything after. She isn't save, like Rex.

Neither is Cody.

"The Senate Had Already Proven Themselves To Be Slavers.  And Now, It Seemed, They Would Add Child Labor

"The senate had already proven themselves to be slavers.  And now, it seemed, they would add child labor to that list.  It was as if his past was repeating itself, the horrors of Bandomeer and Melidaan coming to bite him again after twenty years, returning in twisted permutations to affect not only him, but his entire family.  How could this happen?  How could this happen?"

Based on the absolutely WONDERFUL fic Sith Killer by Livsy!! I think this is the most self indulgent I've ever been for a school project haha but this scene just punched me in the gut in a way I just can't describe so *gestures wildly*

"You were my brother, Anakin! I loved you!"

It's Spring Break this week and I decided that I'd use it to try to make a comic for the first time and ... it's actually so fun? Like, can I drop out of grad school and just do this instead?

Also, I kind of broke my own heart drawing this :(

I’m super excited to finally post the art I did for @codywanreversebang ! I had so much fun working with the incredible writers, @itsgoldleaf (AO3), @ihathbenobiwankenobied (AO3) and @catfur-and-greenscales (AO3) for this year’s Codywan Reverse Bang! Please check out their incredible fics! (Seriously, their writing is so good! I’m blown away at how amazing each one is! 🥹)

Rewinding the Skein

@itsgoldleaf

The encounter will be lousy and frantic and will come when Ben turns down the alleyway. His face will meet a rough-cast wall and the sunburn will be scraped raw from his cheek. A blaster - no, his mind had touched the outline of something wittier clasped in a damp hand - a *knife* will be pressed into one of his soft places and he will be given the luxury of one breath with which to punch out the futility of this endeavour, that his credits are too few and his life too pathetic to expend the effort of doing him the mischief. Move along, move along.

The shape of the hand that holds the knife is tugging another fibre loose in the hindlands of Ben’s consciousness as he draws back from the stall. He’s seen the creases of that palm before. Another thing he doesn’t remember.

He walks towards the alley. The first sun drops lower.

The footsteps behind him are as loud as the blood in his ears.

A Remedy Painted Blue

@ihathbenobiwankenobied

Ten years.

“Cody?”

The man nodded once, then swallowed.

Then nodded again.

It had to be impossible–had to be a lie. Obi-Wan could still remember his first nights on Tatooine, unable to sleep as he considered all he had lost. He imagined Cody had gone on to serve the Imperials, only to die in the line of duty.

Obi-Wan had mourned him.

After ten years, Obi-Wan had settled himself with the idea of death–the idea that the people he cared about most were long gone.

He had grieved for so long.

“I didn’t think I would find you.”

Behind the Scenes

@catfur-and-greenscales

“Spare any credits?” Obi-Wan stopped on the spot, feeling a cold sensation creeping down his spine.

He knew that voice as he had heard it hundreds of thousands of times.

With wide eyes Obi-Wan turned around and saw a man, not anyone he could say he knew, but those features were more than familiar to him. Perhaps the Force could have provided him more information, but he dared not to use it to reach for the man. It had been ages since the last time, so starting now was not an option.

For a moment they both were just staring at one another, until the rough looking man lifted his bandaged arm, with a helmet. Obi-Wan could not help himself but … There was no facial scar. And there shouldn't have been, since even after everything, the man in front of him was still wearing the colors of the 501st. This man was not Cody. Of course not.

He should have known better to not hope.

But the seconds their eyes were locked felt too long to Obi-Wan. The tension was broken only when the clone just lifted his bucket a little higher and said:“Help a veteran to get a warm meal.”

Obi-Wan wanted to say something, but what could he have said?

So he said nothing. Saying something would have caused him to get engaged to this unknown man. Cursed compassion would have led Obi-Wan to ask questions he had no time to ask while being on an urgent mission.

The few credits he had … this man would have deserved way more than Obi-Wan could have given to him, so withou speaking he searched his pockets and put whatever he could find into the bucket pointed in his direction.

He could not be sure if the man had recognized him or not, but there had for sure been a moment when they both had measured one another.

The Jedi just turned away, his heart beating a bit faster than before. What else was he going to find from this wretched planet?

Stewjoni people are considered highly dangerous, there is a huge reason why not much is known about them, anyone who has ever gotten close never came back.

So Palpatine discovering Obi-Wan is stewjoni? He decides to use this against the Jedi and to further his manipulation over Anakin, not by telling him Obi-Wan hid his biology no.

He tells Anakin of the stewjon and their background, how everyone was afraid of them and still is to this day, how it was strange the Jedi managed to capture Obi-Wan and “made” him the perfect Jedi in their eyes.

Palpatine even mentioned certain appendages Stewjoni people had, like nails being extra long or teeth being a little too sharp to be considered human and how weird it was that Obi-Wan didn’t have them.

“Something must have happened you see….they don’t just disappear in adulthood” Palpatine says with a frown, glancing at the slightly enraged face of the forces child.

He smirks in glee when Anakin abruptly stands and excuses himself, unknowingly signing his own death warrant.

A few months ago I had been very obsessed with star wars (again: third time probably), and I really wanted to own anything star wars related.

I did not even have the films, I had until then only really watched parts of the movies. (Except Attack of the Clones, saw it on tv once)

However, I knew the plot from reading the novelization I got from a library.

Then I got this summer job related to collecting bulky waste (like furniture, dishwashers and such) and thats where I found them. Somebody had thrown out their entire Dvd collection. And in that collection were 2 Boxsets.

A Few Months Ago I Had Been Very Obsessed With Star Wars (again: Third Time Probably), And I Really Wanted

The Originals and Prequels.

I was literally so happy.

I got to take them home because we were allowed to take some things.

It had rained on that day so the cardboard is a bit water damaged.

(Yes I know I can watch them on Disney plus, but owning something is just much more special.)

This AU really starts when Anakin finds his mother in the Tusken camp, but only truly works if there is a little set up before.  It is imperative, for reasons that will become clear, to note that in this Palpatine has been manipulating Anakin with the Force, as opposed to only psychologically, since he was a child.  Palpatine has been seeding the darkside, hidden deep so that it was never discovered (even by Anakin), waiting to sprout and spread the darkside like an infection at the appropriate moments.

When Anakin finds his mother as she dies, he loses it, but not to violence. Instead he panics and shoves every bit of Force that he can into his mother’s body to try and bring her back and heal her. Every bit of the Force, including the darkside seeds that Palpatine had been planting.  Because healing is primarily a light sided technique, thus somewhat purifying, Shmi does not get the full force of the darkside infection that would have hit her son (so we avoid Vader!Shmi or even Full Sidious!Shmi) however there were a number of long lasting effects to the way Anakin panicked and brought her back (incidentally Anakin has now created two new deities for the Tuskans, which Shmi does note and will make use of later).  These include:

A Force bond between her and Anakin that gave her Anakin's memories and feelings for the past decade.

A working knowledge of what Palpatine knew (From Palpatine’s Dark Seeds), though no firsthand memories.

Force Sensitivity that is powerful enough to use the various techniques she just gained the knowledge to use.

A significant hit to the moral centers of her psyche.

A Soul Deep and engrossing ambition to rule the Galaxy.

Now Shmi is not evil in the way that Palpatine is (Palpatine is the kind of evil that not only does whatever he wants to accomplish his goal, but actively goes out of his way to create as much collateral as possible and will in fact even mildly inconvenience himself in order to increase collateral damage) but she does now fall closer to Amoral than not. Like her first option is not to kill kids, but it is never not an option. Shmi does justify her new desire to rule the galaxy, based on the fact that she would be better at it than Palpatine.

By the time Anakin and Shmi have made it back to the Lars homestead, she has her son wrapped around her finger even more than she would have. She had also, through the careful recounting of how one of the men who had seemed so kindly to the slave children had actually been a child murder (couching it it in terms that one of Anakin's childhood friends, who it turned out had been a victim of this man, grave had been found and the man brought to a rather brutal justice), partially broken Anakin’s trust in Palpatine without ever letting on that she knew who Palpatine was.

After they get back to the Homestead, Shmi tells Anakin that she wants him to visit again and to bring Obi Wan (It was after they had talked about what had been happening since he left). Anakin loves Obi Wan as a brother, and as such Shmi loves him too. Padme has also fallen quickly under Shmi’s influence, which is good considering that Shmi intended to make Padme another daughter in law (Both because Anakin had a crush, and she wanted Anakin to have what he wanted, and because Senator and former Queen of Naboo is actually a decently powerful set of titles).  Shmi gently shoos her sweet, oblivious son off the planet with her future daughter in law (it is for the best that her Jedi Son be off the planet for what she is about to do next) making them promise to visit soon.

Cliegg and Beru also fall quickly under Shmi’s spell. Owen holds out a bit longer (I am fully convinced that his ability to hold back Skywalker BS comes from growing up with Shmi, not his few interactions with Anakin) but is just as willing to follow Shmi’s lead within a tenday.

While a galaxy wide war is breaking out, Shmi quietly but very firmly takes control of Tatooine. Then, in spite of the fact she had not left the planet in decades, she quickly takes control of the rest of the Hutt Empire.  Her identity remains hidden; she does not want to fight her son or his Jedi family because they do not yet understand her vision for the galaxy. They will, of that she is sure, but it will take time.

One of the many things she does is abolish slavery within her new Empire.  It is both easier and harder than it would appear. Easier in that she does not care about the power or money of the people who made their living in trafficking of sentient life, so she does not care about the economics of the systems she dismantles. Harder because the Hutt Empire was built on slavery; there are significantly larger portions of every population of the Hutt Planets then anyone realized who had spent most of their lives enslaved, with no training or education and very little idea how to exist without being enslaved (with all the psychological and sociological implications therein).  But she does it, quietly absorbing the fledgling Zygerrian Empire as well.

A year and a half into the Clone wars Shmi is finally ready to make her move.

In that time she has become well connected with Padme, who asks for approval to marry Anakin six months into the war (Approval that Shmi grants, on the condition that Padme also get approval from Obi wan, as Anakin’s older brother/father. Padme asks, and to the surprise of both Padme and Anakin immediately gets Obi Wan’s baffled, but pleased, approval. In this one marriage is not forbidden to Jedi, it really isn’t even discouraged. No one seems to want to marry a Jedi, as far as the Jedi are concerned. Date a Jedi, well that seems to be common fantasy. Sleep with a Jedi, all the time. But never marry. This all serves Shimi’s true purpose, to continue to break the trust between her son and Palpatine). They do decide to wait until after the war, when they can have everyone attend; in part because Palpatine is pushing them both in a really creepy way.

She makes her move by going on vacation with Cliegg to a world she knew, from her own spies, was about to be attacked by separatists. A world that it was highly likely the 212th would be deployed to. In the time it takes for the 212th to liberate the planet, it is a relatively minor battle so only takes a few weeks, Shmi and Clieg have connected with the battalion and convinced them to transport them (Shmi and Cliegg) to Coruscant.  If asked, even Obi Wan, Cody, or the Natborn officers are not sure how they came to agree to take two civilians to the Core but everyone Shmi meets becomes absolutely convinced that it was a reasonable decision. During this trip Shmi bonds with Obi Wan, as her son’s brother/father/teacher.  This was one of her goals, to get a clearer picture of who Obi Wan is, and through him the Jedi Order; Anakin’s memories and feelings are a bit mixed on the Jedi as a whole but she also knows, from Palpatine’s knowledge, that Palpatine had been manipulating those feelings for years.  She finds that she does like Obi Wan. Because of this Shmi intends, beyond even what her plan calls for,  that she would ensure that Obi Wan found happiness in her Empire.

Upon arriving on Coruscant Shmi sends Cliegg (in disguise) to meet with various criminal underworld leaders who know of her fledgeling Empire, while she meets with members of the Jedi council to plant the seeds of her Galactic Empire.

It is in this that we truly see the difference between Shmi and Sidious. Shmi wants to Rule the galaxy. Sidious wants to Subjugate the galaxy. Now granted the difference between the two is not as much as people who want the former would protest, but is greater than what the people who want the latter would claim. In this case ruling is a small group having a disproportionate amount of power over a larger group. Subjugation is a group or person asserting total control over another group or person. While a ruler can abuse the power they have, in order to subjugate someone, a being MUST abuse them to break them in such a way the subjugator can control them.

In spite of her forced amorality Shmi is actually a good person and wants to be a good Empress for the galaxy. So for her, subjugation is more work (realistically 90% of the galaxy is not going to notice if they are in a republic or an empire, and not just because the Empire had been disguising itself as a republic for a decade. That same 90% have comparatively simple needs and are going to be fine with a ruler who provides them. Whereas requires constant control measures to apply the exact correct amount of pressure to bend the populace to your will, without breaking them into rebelling. Ruling well is actually less costly) for less benefit. Because of that having the super powered warrior monks, who most of the beings that would oppose an Empress on principle are going to look to as a paragon of wisdom,  buy into the idea that Shmi should be Empress and that they would be happier in her Empire makes more sense than eradicating them.  Also, complicated feelings aside, the Jedi make up part of Anakin’s family and she does not want to hurt Anakin’s family.

Shmi also, at the behest of Anakin, took time to go with him to meet his friend Palpatine.  While in the waiting room she speaks with Fox, on guard duty, who she recognizes from her talks with Cody as the person to place a bet with(No one suspects the stern commander of the Coruscant Guard to be the biggest bookie in three systems). After about an hour of chit chat (During which Palpatine has no idea he has met someone with all of his knowledge, who is planning to abscond with the Grand Sith Plan) Anakin and Shmi leave the Senate. Anakin semi anxiously asks her what she thinks of Palpatine, babbling a little bit that Obi Wan doesn't like him, but Obi Wan hates most politicians. Shmi, after letting a long pause stretch, says that Obi Wan has good instincts (Look I really want Palpatine to be faced with his own manipulation tactics) and casually mentions Obi Wan’s time enslaved and how that must have hond those instincts- which he had not told Shmi about but that she could guess.  Again without directly accusing Palpatine of anything, Shmi manages to get across to Anakin that as the Chancellor, Palpatine actually currently has all the power and has used it to effectively enslave the clones and the Jedi. Fully breaking Anakin’s trust in Palpatine and tying him closer to the Jedi (where Shmi wants him).   During this exchange Anakin asks what she had been talking to Fox about and she answers with ‘placing a bet’. Anakin lights up and guesses it is the ‘CodyWan Bet’, because literally everybody noticed their pining and that neither will admit it (Shmi uses that to drive the point home that both are effectively enslaved and do not feel free to be together if they might be ‘sold’ apart-a concept that Anakin is very familiar with).

I am not sure where it ends, except that Shmi does indeed become Empress and her Force powers work as such that she gains power through being loved, so in being a good ruler she stops aging. The Jedi do buy in and Palpatine does end up dead. Someone in Shmi’s smaller Empire, before she becomes Empress, discovers the chips and their purpose, which leads to the entirety of the Clones transplanting themselves (GAR, Cadets, everyone) to a planet in the former Hutt space (deeply freaked out over what they could have been made to do to their Jedi) and refusing all calls for like a year, while they dechip. The Jedi (all of them) transplanted themselves to the next planet over, waiting semi impatiently to be allowed to visit their men again.  Shmi meeting Ahsoka after she becomes Anakin’s Padawan and deciding that, as her oldest grandchild, Ahsoka would have the option to be her heir if she would like (Ahsoka really wants to be a Jedi, but agrees to hold the status until another heir comes along-she gratefully passed the heir status to Leia when Leia was born, as she could not be knighted while still the Empress’s Heir).

Oh and Obi Wan does get to be happy with Cody in the new Empire, with frequent visits from Satine (I like the idea that they were childhood sweethearts/first loves that knew they would not fit well romantically but still loved each other and got to be overprotective of each other-Satine adores Cody, thinks he is perfect for Obi Wan and thy find time every so often to take an evening to drink over whatever ridiculous situation Obi Wan go himself into this time)

The Tall Luke Conspiracy

The worst mistake of Vader’s entire career was letting the galaxy think his son was tall.

The boy was short. He always had been, from his childhood until he’d run away from home. He’d inherited his mother’s stature, among some of her other more stubborn qualities. Vader had always liked the height difference. Sometimes he pretended his son was younger than he was, much to Luke’s dismay.

But all of that changed because of the paparazzi when Luke was sixteen.

So here's a Star Wars Crack Treated Seriously idea for you.

Obi-Wan Kenobi finds himself back in the past somewhere during the Clone Wars.

And obviously he needs to make sure that Anakin doesn't Fall and go on his Grand Slaughter Adventure.

But Anakin is the most bantha-headed, stubborn, CONTRARY disaster in the galaxy. Obi-Wan just KNOWS that if he tries going at it straight on Anakin might Fall just out of sheer spite.

No. No. This requires some finesse.

Long story short, he gets his hands on some yellow contact lenses and begins playing the most intricate game of reverse psychology guerilla warfare in the history of the Republic.

(and would you look at that, "Sith" are allowed to make assassination attempts on Supreme Chancellors. How... convenient)

I really like Padawan Obi-Wan, he is so cute (?, i don't know if that is the right word)

Hogan's Heroes, but make it Star Wars, AKA Hogan's Rebels

The series takes place in an Imperial prison camp around the same time as the beginning of Rebels.

Robert Rob Hogan is a Jedi Knight and Order 66 survivor. His birth name is Arkouda Mathan. (1) He's an expert pilot and particularly good at Jedi mind tricks. He has a blue lightsaber that he made after the Gathering and a white lightsaber that he took from an Inquistor. It used to be red.

Newkirk grew up in the underworld of Coruscant. As a result, he became an expert thief, codebreaker, and slicer.

LeBeau is a Twi'lek. He lived on Ryloth during the Separatist occupation.

Carter is from Tatooine. He is part Tusken. (2)

Kinch and Baker are both Onderonian. (3)

Klink is an Imperial officer. He previously fought for the Republic during the Clone Wars. He is possibly another Fulcrum agent.

Schultz also fought in the Clone Wars. He secretly hates the Empire and longs for the days of the Republic.

H3LG4 and H1LG4 are droids that were secretly reprogrammed for the Rebellion.

Langenscheidt is a storm trooper on mostly friendly terms with the rebels. He has past experience as a bounty hunter.

Burkhalter is a moff.

Hochstetter is an ISB agent determined to prove Hogan is a Jedi.

Crittendon is another Coruscanti, but he's from the upper levels where the other rich people live. A Jedi wannabe, his attempts at emulating them cause more problems than they solve, a fact that annoys Hogan to no end.

Marya is a Nightsister. Another Force-sensitive, she is willing to use the dark side.

Tiger is another Twi'lek. She is part of the Free Ryloth Movement.

(1) - Arkouda is Greek for bear. Mathan is Scottish Gaelic for bear. At least according to Google Translate.

(2) - This is analogous to Carter being a member of the Sioux in the show.

(3) - I was thinking about the Onderon civil war.

P.S. - Consider this an open invitation to make content for this AU.

Touch Starved by Amina Gila (CourtesyTrefflin) - They are two halves of a whole, two stars inexorably pulled together by gravity, forever rotating one another, forever caught up in each other’s orbit. They are Anakin and Obi-Wan. They are Darth Vader and Ben Kenobi. It doesn’t matter. Names mean nothing. Not for them. They should be enemies. They are a Jedi Master and a Sith Lord. And yet… nothing can truly keep them apart.  NOT VADERWAN!

The Puppeteer

Ashes fell from red skies over the battlefield, on broken speeders, scattered weapons and lifeless bodies. Luke walked among them, checking, searching for familiar faces, hoping not to find the ones he was looking for among them. They had to be alive, he could feel it in the Force.

Six months had passed since the Empire attacked Hoth Base, but Luke remembered too well the burning cold and a blurry sight of the flames engulfing the building as Han carried him out, still weak and wet in bacta, running to the Falcon. Not even the howling blizzard could mask the screams and blaster shots exploding through his memories.

The Empire’s strike was fast, faster than what they all had anticipated and much more devastating. It was only when the survivors had escaped to the next rendezvous point that they realized a whole squadron of pilots went missing in the chaos that day.

Rogue Squadron was lost, each one of them was presumed dead in battle. Hobbie, Tycho, Janson, Wedge. Luke felt the knot on his stomach as he remembered them. He could have helped them, he should have, he was a Jedi!

“You should not carry on such weight upon you” Mon Mothma had told him, trying to stop him from going into this crusade “you are not guilty for surviving”

But Leia knew how he felt, the impotence, the desire for justice. She too had lost enough to the Empire.

“I trust you if you feel you can still save them,” she had told him, when Luke asked for guidance “just take care. The Rebellion can’t lose more pilots” I can’t lose you too her thought passed by Luke’s mind with their last glance as he boarded his X-Wing.

He took a deep breath, closing his eyes to clear his thoughts and focus in the present, in the Force. He could feel how strong the Dark Side was here, it’s web of faint tendrils spreaded through the field, around the light of his presence, guiding him towards the tangled black hole that was their core. Each strand seemed to be tied to a fallen Stormtrooper, withering and slowly fading.

This was something he had not seen before. The feeling of being a fly walking into a spider’s trap was stronger with each step.

The scattered comms intercepted by Rebel intelligence a few weeks back implied some kind of experiment going on with the Empire’s troops, but no one was sure about what exactly it was. Some thought it was a droid squadron relying on a hive mind, others suggested it could be a brainwashing program to make them unquestionably loyal, but they all were certain it would be tested here again. It was the Rebel’s opportunity to find out what had happened on Hoth and Luke’s to get some answers.

The plunging temperature was his first warning, the same cold he felt in Hoth not in his skin but on his soul, followed by a sound of a group walking closer. It was them; they were with Vader.

“Father” Luke said, standing out of his hiding place, caught by surprise at the sight of a group of Stormtroopers.

The troopers quickly turned to aim at him, all exactly at the same time like synchronized droids. There was something extremely wrong in the way they stood, rigid as if their bodies were not flesh and bone. Through their broken armor and helmets Luke could see their eyes, soulless, unblinking as their pupils glowed with an unnatural yellow. Behind them stood the Sith Lord, a towering shadow slowly turning to meet his gaze, deep black lenses on bright blue eyes.

“Son” Vader’s voice was unsettlingly calm as he watched down the Jedi standing a few feet away.

In the Force he could feel the trooper’s minds screaming for release, prisoner of the same dark tendrils that laid all over the battlefield, holding their bodies like puppets on a string. Luke frowned, horrified as the painful realization fell on him.

He knew those eyes by different colors.

“Release them” Luke growled, taking his lightsaber to ignite it.

The wind blowed, carrying away the embers of near fire, glowing in the darkness like the yellow eyes staring at him.

The eyes of the Rogue Squadron.

Run Luke! A cacophony of overlayed voices cried through the Force, it’s a trap, run, forget us, we are dead already. But he would not leave them, he couldn’t, not after searching for them through the whole galaxy. Its was his fault they were prisoners on their own bodies; he had already failed once; he couldn’t fail them again.

“I said release them, Vader” Luke snarled, gripping his lightsaber tighter.

“You are in no position for demands, young one” Vader replied.

The painful screams of the Rogues at unison startled Luke as they echoed in his mind. The squadron moved, shooting their blasters at him with uncanny precision. They were not set to stun Luke noticed as he quickly deflected the shots away with his saber, soon overwhelmed by the heavy fire. With a swift movement he parried one last shot back towards Vader before running for cover. The plasma bolt ricocheted on the Sith’s chest armor.

Behind a crashed speeder shielding him, Luke could hear the steps of the Rogues approaching. He was cornered against them and what remained of an AT-AT. There had to be a way to release them, he didn’t want to harm his friends any further.

“You cannot save them,” Vader’s voice boomed through the battlefield, clearly reading his thoughts “surrender and I shall release their feeble bodies”

A drop of cold sweat ran down Luke’s temple. He could still hear the whispers thrown at him. Run, save yourself. He certainly could strike them to reach his X-Wing, fly away from here, forget this all happened, tell the Rebellion he found Rogue Squadron dead… but every day he would remember this last chance to save the ones who risked their own lives for him so many times under unknown skies and Imperial fire, the ones who embraced him like a family when he had lost everyone. He could not attack them, much less leave their fate on Vader’s hands. The guilt already ate his soul slowly every day since Hoth.

Luke braced himself for a moment before deactivating the lightsaber, slowly rising from behind the speeder with his hands up. The Rogues on trooper armor still pointed their blasters at him. No! Don’t do this! Run! Wedge’s voice rippled inside his head. The lightsaber flew through the air from Luke’s hand to Vader’s, who clipped it to his belt.

“A wise decision”

His father’s voice stated before Luke watched in horror how his friends dropped to the ground, screaming and howling in pain. Their limbs twisted on unnatural ways, the snap of bones breaking.

“No! Stop!!” Luke ran towards them, unable to do anything as he tried to hold Wedge. He glared at Vader “I surrendered! You said you would release them!!”

“I stated I would release their bodies. I never specified they would be able to use them again”

Luke clenched his fists. He could not stand helpless to watch his friends being broken to pieces around him, not after all they had endured, after all he had done to save them. The Force sang at him, like a breeze turning into cold maelstrom, filling him with a power he had not felt before. The same dark tendrils covering the field and pulling the Rogue’s limbs suddenly tensed and stopped at his command, releasing their bodies. He focused on Vader, feeling his father’s surprise as he took hold of the strings, commanding them to coil around the Sith’s prosthetics. With a flick of his wrist he pulled them, and Vader fell to his knees, the strength of the Force shattering the durasteel armor covering his legs.

Luke held him there, immobile, thinking about breaking him the same way he did to his friends, to twist and turn him until he screamed in pain. With a single string he took hold of his neck under the mask. A sound from the vocoder stopped him, like a series of huffs. Laughing, Luke realized, Vader was laughing at him.

“You are a fast learner, son.” the Sith’s mask slowly tilted to look directly at him “You shall make an excellent apprentice”

The realization of what he had just done fell on him. Luke stared in shock at his friends laying in the ground, badly injured but still alive, free of Force strings surrounding them. He looked down at his hands, gripping the now withering tendrils that held Vader.

The rage had filled him, disguised as rightful justice, convincing him he deserved to have revenge. A moment of weakness was enough to fall to the Dark Side.

Day 1: A LITTLE OUT OF THE ORDINARY

Day 1: A LITTLE OUT OF THE ORDINARY

Adverse Effects | Unconventional Restraints | “This wasn’t supposed to happen”

The last thing Luke Skywalker could remember was the feeling of intense lightning thrashing around his insides, mixed with the smell of smoke and the crackle of thunder and his own shot vocal chords, as he looked through blurred tears at his father. He was surely dead now.. this was his end. Everything went to a frightening darkness before it all turned to grey nothingness.

“The boy has awakened,” echoed a sinister voice that Luke knew all too well.

It was hard to see through the murky fluid in front of him, even more difficult was the glass beyond. This was a dark room where only two other individuals remained: one was a simple medical droid blindly answering and dutifully following orders. The other figure frightened Luke.. he could only hope that it wasn’t him.

Where was his father?

Why was he still alive?

After fluttering his lashes, blinking through the liquid, Luke soon realized he was inside a bacta tank. His arms were restrained by cuffs, lifted up above his head, as his legs uselessly dangled below. “Father,” Luke reached out with the Force. Perhaps there was still a chance; perhaps he could still save him. “Father, please.”

But there was nothing but silence in response. The boy pleaded with the Force, urging for his call to reach him. It was a disturbing silence, as if an absence of being. What happened to Lord Vader? Where was Anakin Skywalker? Where was his father? Something was not right and Luke couldn’t help but feel terribly alone as the wrinkled man garbed in black crept his way forward.

“You thought I was really going to kill you,” Palpatine rasped as he gestured to the droid. The bacta immediately began to drain and the glass soon followed with it, humming as it slid through the ground, exposing Luke to the great evil before him. “You have anger in your eyes.. fear, too. Yes, this was the right decision after all.”

“What did you do with him?”

Luke shivered as the remnants of bacta clung to his bare skin. His eyes wildly looked around as he took in the area around him - his cybernetic hand was removed, rendering at least one arm useless. He looked around for his lightsaber, hoping to call on it for protection. The Emperor was right; anger and fear coursed through Luke’s veins and he was fighting every single temptation.

“Lord Vader has been disposed of,” Palpatine said with little regard. “You see, he tried to save you but he was too late. He waited too long. If only he had acted a second sooner.. you might be with your loving father. But now you are here. With me.”

Luke’s eyes filled with venom as his left hand clenched into a fist - he tried to summon his lightsaber, a weapon, a panel, a piece of the wall, anything to fight back.

“You want your lightsaber.. I can see it in your eyes. Don’t forget, boy, that you threw it aside in defiance of me. But I have it here,” Palpatine said as he opened his robe and peeled out the lightsaber from within, inspecting it as he dangled it in front of Luke. “Your father wasn’t strong enough to do what needed to be done. He was a useful aide but his time wasn’t long. Within you, there is great potential and power. You want your lightsaber, don’t you? You want to avenge all that you have lost.”

“I hate you,” were the thoughts inside Luke’s head. But he didn’t dare speak them.

“You hate me? Don’t think too highly of your own abilities, Jedi. I can read every thought. But all that can be fixed by pressing this button, activating your weapon, and ridding the galaxy of me,” the Emperor said as he placed the lightsaber inside Luke’s restrained arm. “You want it so badly - your father was all you had to rely on. At one time, he would have been the perfect successor of the Sith. But he was tainted. Ruined. Avenge his death and kill me. You will become one with all the Sith.. with me.. and I you. Every dark act committed across the galaxy will be inherited. End it.”

The binding on his left arm came loose and Luke swallowed as he looked at the weapon in his grasp. This was wrong - oh, how he wanted to do it. The galaxy would be free without the Emperor and his friends would be saved. All it would cost was his soul. But it was personal at this point; all he could think of was his father, who tried to save him and failed. Would it be wrong to not honor his sacrifice?

And what of his sister?

“The rebel alliance is no more,” Palpatine said coolly as he watched Luke’s heart sink in front of him. “All of them. Your friends.. as well as your sister.”

The lightsaber seemingly activated without Luke having the chance to think - all he could do was feel. The green light plunged into the Emperor, who ended his earthly presence with an unforgettable cackle, as Luke looked on in horror and rage. “You.. are mine,” Palpatine rasped with his final breath. He fell to the floor as Luke looked down in panic, heaving as a swirling torrent of black and red energy exit from the Sith Lord and wrap around him. It was painful, overwhelming, even intoxicating.

Luke collapsed to the floor next to Palpatine, the weight of this dark energy so powerful that it tore his remaining cuff from the wall. His lightsaber remained on. His eyes widened as he saw the comforting green core slowly bleed into a terrible red. He furiously attempted to turn off the blade - to stop the bleeding. But the weapon refused to answer, acting upon an evil call that it could no longer resist.

Once it finally completed the shift, Luke nervously stood. His lips trembled as he held the lightsaber away from his form, instinctively walking toward a window overlooking the vastness of space. He brought the lightsaber closer to his face and gasped as he saw the reflection stare back at him. The innocent and wide blue eyes he had come to know and take comfort in were no longer present; there were golden eyes staring back, looking on in malice and uncontrollable rage.

halfway, and before I even argue by OldEmeraldEye Luke Skywalker & Leia Organa, 182 words finished. Being from a desert planet, Luke lacks a certain degree of experience with seafood. Leia is happy to help.

no one can stop me, not even gravity or nasa by magneticwave Leia organa/Han Solo, humor, 8k finished. “Fuck you,” Leia says. “Who said anything about getting married? Did Luke say anything about getting married?” “Luke is not involved,” Luke says, not looking up.

An Unwelcome Guest by bornofstars Luke Skywalker & Leia Organa & Darth Vader, child luke, fluff, 5k finished. Or: Han is flummoxed by Luke's lack of driving knowledge, but Anakin can commiserate.

Worlds Apart by StupidFatPenguin Luke Skywalker/Din Djarin, fluff, humor, dimension travel, 5k finished. Owing to a failed attempt at clairvoyance through the Force, Luke is sent into an alternative universe where everything is the same... except, there are two toothbrushes in his refresher and a Mandalorian in his bedroom.

Not a damn lick of respect to be found.

Sitting Ducks by SpellCleaver Luke Skywalker & Darth Vader, humor, outsider pov, 2k finished. There is a Rebel outpost on Naboo. Luke Skywalker has never seen wildlife the likes of which Naboo has to offer before. Somehow, that becomes an Imperial spy's problem.

◇ Angst, Hurt/comfort, character study

(aka Red Five's helmet) has stories to tell about his former pilot-head and about the fateful day on Yavin when he meets his new head, Luke Skywalker. He's immediately feeling protective about the floofy blond hair.

From Orbit by astolat Luke Skywalker/Leia Organa/Han Solo, 4k finished. “You’ve got to quit doing this,” Han said. Luke glanced at him. “What?” Han made a wide impatient sweep of his arm. “This. Standing in the bay staring out into the void. It’s creepy, kid. Come on, it’s dinnertime. The fleet can make it into hyperspace without your personal supervision.”

After the Last War is won by Tenshi (external link) Luke gestured with his left hand, the other lost in the folds of his cloak, and perhaps in his mind he saw the former glory of the Temple, and not a maze of toppled columns, disfigured statuary, and sprawling Huttese graffiti. for a hundred miles through the desert by wreckageofstars Luke Skywalker & Han Solo, angst, 6k finished. [“There's no water, on Tatooine,” Luke said finally. “I mean, no large bodies of water, like you have on other planets. Pools, lakes. Oceans. A Naboo proverb says that it takes seven steps to fall from grace or climb towards glory. Sheev had never understood why the fall wasn’t considered a victory, when he had fallen towards the dark side with laurels adorning his head. And then a Jedi Knight, who should be nothing more than a nuisance, accompanies him on a mission and Sheev finds himself wanting. (Note: the ship might make you raise an eyebrow but hear me out. This fic is actually great.)

"A moth daemon?"

Five Days on Yavin by rinwins Luke Skywalker/Din Djarin, 7k finished. He’d seen so many different versions of Luke by now-- implacable knight, patient teacher, fearless pilot, loyal friend; the Jedi master who could move a starfighter with his mind and the Tatooine farm boy who laughed at his own ridiculous jokes. fool's gold

part 2, with part 1 included :)

--

“It cannot be stressed enough how dangerous this news is.”

General Madine leveled a flat glare towards the Rebels, who were nodding thoughtfully. Luke wanted to scream. “It appears we as the Alliance have a new enemy—an unknown enemy, one who has yet to strike, but one who will clearly be formidable. After all, look at his father.”

Yeah, huh, what must that be like? Having Vader as a father? Of all the—

“It is our understanding that not even the Empire knows the identity of Vader’s child. Whoever they are, they’ve been kept well under wraps. Obviously, if their identity were to be revealed, they would be in extreme danger. It’s no wonder Vader hasn’t advertised their existence. Being his offspring would come with a myriad of built-in enemies.”

Great. Oh, great. It didn’t help that Leia had murmured agreement to that. Little did the Alliance know that Vader’s enemies were so numerous they technically included his son. Not that Luke was about to share that little fact with the group. He raised his eyes to the ceiling.

“The media is also champing at the bit to find out more. No one knows anything. No one knows the age of the being, no one knows the species—much like with Vader himself, even the most basic of details are a mystery.”

A mystery even to the child himself, Luke thought miserably. He didn’t know anything about his father either. Well, besides the fact that he was (1) tall, (2) dark, and (3) evil, and, oh, that’s right, he’d been Anakin Skywalker once upon a time. Somehow, Luke got the feeling that information wouldn’t smooth over any ruffled feathers.

Why didn’t you tell me, Ben, he thought unhappily for not the first, second, or even thirtieth time. He felt as if he had been led blindfolded, not with a knife to a blaster fight, but with nothing to a, a nuclear event. The information had definitely dropped with the subtlety of a nuclear bomb.

Wedge spoke. “Are we planning to devote any resources to finding them, whoever they are? Or are we just going to wait to see if they make an appearance?” Unsettled murmuring rose in response at the thought of a Vader 2.0 waiting in the shadows. Luke tartly thought that, much like the man himself, the Alliance was going to be disappointed. The last time Luke had pulled out his lightsaber in a fight, he had lost a hand. Catch him repeating that experience again anytime soon. That, and, uh, Luke had all the trained finesse of a wobbling baby bantha foal. He exhaled gloomily.

General Madine sighed. “It’s hard to say at this point. If Vader has trained his child—if that child has Vader’s powers—I don’t have to state that they are an extreme danger to the Alliance and its mission. Vader himself is enough of an enemy for us, let alone Vader doubled.”

Vader doubled—Luke’s mouth dropped open in offense (and a little bit of humiliation at how far Madine has missed the mark as to the threat level), but he clamped it shut before anyone noticed. A moment too late because Leia shot him a funny look. Luke tried to smile at her to cover it but knew from her expression of unimpressed all over that he had probably just looked constipated.

“We’ll keep everyone updated on our strategy,” Madine finished. “High Council is still discussing how we want to approach it.”

“Well, I think the best defense is a good offense,” Wedge muttered, lowering himself back into his seat.

“I’m on the same page,” Madine nodded. “I suspect that’s where the Alliance will land.”

Luke decided he didn’t like the direction the conversation was heading. “I mean, is it really necessary? Vader’s,” barely catching himself before he said son and blew everything to hell, “child hasn’t done anything yet. What if they aren’t a threat?”

They aren’t, he added silently in his head. Not only because Luke’s politics and sense of morals were about as far away as his father’s as possible—forget opposite end of the spectrum, between Luke’s Vader’s lay the entire spectrum, if you asked Luke—but also because…well…Luke didn’t know anything. Baby bantha foal, indeed. Vader could squash him like a bug. Leia could squash him like a bug. Although the thought was unpleasant, embarrassing, and a whole other pile of disagreeable words, Luke presented no threat to the Alliance.

“Luke,” Leia’s voice was patient, which meant that Luke had just said something she considered idiotic but that she wasn’t going to hold it against him. “It’s Vader. Any child of his would almost certainly be a powerful Force sensitive.”

“Yeah, kid,” Han languidly stretched out his feet, having leaned back in his chair during the entire conversation with his characteristic idleness. “I’m with her Worshipfulness on this one. I ain’t eager to sit back and let some nightmare creature of the dark sneak up on us.”

Nightmare creature of the!!—Luke knew he had zero right to be so offended at the entire conversation but also thought sulkily that anyone would be a little insulted. Well, except Vader, probably. Which made Luke wonder for a split second how Vader felt about his general image as a whole, but then he shook off the thought. Anyone who still cared about how they lived at all wouldn’t do what Vader did on a normal weekday.

After a beat, Luke just shrugged in surrender, letting the conversation wind on without speaking again. The Alliance would piddle away resources (Luke had tried to stop them, he really had), and Luke already knew they wouldn’t find anything worth noting. In the meantime, he’d try to live in peace. As much peace as someone being intently hunted by both sides of the war could.

“I bet he eats infant limbs for breakfast.”

“Hey, it could be a girl too.”

“I bet she paints her face in blood then.”

“I bet they suck the blood of their victims.”

“Hey, that’s vampires,” Luke objected halfheartedly, speaking for the first time since the Rogues’ conversation had begun. Lunchtimes weren’t as fun lately, not since the news of Vader’s child had swept through the base. Not that anything was much fun after Bespin, but if Luke had learned anything from missions with Han, it was that things could always get worse.

“Yeah, but for all we know, Vader could be a vampire.” The pilot’s mouth was flecked with sauce as he continued. “Mebbe that’s why he wears the suit. Can’t be in the sun.”

“That’s ridiculous,” Luke said flatly, but everyone else was nodding thoughtfully.

“Whoever it is, I don’t envy them,” Wedge commented. “Vader is hardly going to win parent of the year awards.”

It was the first sympathetic comment Luke had heard, and it nearly made him tear up. Finally—

“Not that it matters in the end. The jarra fruit never falls far from the tree,” Wedge took another bite of his sandwich decidedly. “You know, Luke,” he mused, “They probably are aware of your existence, given how Vader has hunted you down.”

Luke stiffened—the remark toed too close to uncomfortable truths, but no one blinked an eye or wandered after the thought to its logical conclusion.

“Yeah, it’s a good thing the Rebellion is searching for them. Vader’s child could be after you too, for all you know,” Tycho remarked. “They might view you as an enemy, same as Vader.”

This—this was ridiculous. “I think I’m good,” Luke said weakly.

“If you say so,” Tycho shrugged. “But given your status as the pilot who destroyed the Death Star and Jedi trainee, whatever you call ‘em, I’d watch my back if I were you.”

Oh, Luke was, but for entirely different reasons than Tycho was thinking.

“Don’t worry, Luke,” Wedge said kindly. “You have us to watch your back. You aren’t going it alone. Vader’s child won’t hurt you, not if we have anything to say about it.”

Luke didn’t know what to say other than thanks.

Their lunch was interrupted by a summons to a briefing room.

“Gentleman,” Madine greeted, Leia standing beside him. “We’d like to update you on where our search stands. We’ve compiled a list of potential identities for Vader’s child.” A holoprojector flickered to life in the front of the room. “First, we have…”

What followed was an indescribable mix of assassins, warmongers, Imperial hands (Luke noted the red haired one), and various other slightly to very murderous galactic citizens. By the end of it, Luke was simultaneously relieved and insulted. Relieved because the Alliance was nowhere closer to guessing his secret, and insulted because—

Luke blinked. Shifted uncomfortably. Wondered if perhaps he wasn’t getting enough sleep. That had to be it; there was no other explanation for the mysterious disappointment that—

“Luke, are you coming?”

“Yes,” Luke said quickly, leaping up to follow Leia and leave the room and any awkward realizations behind him. This would die down soon enough once the Alliance failed to find anything.

--

Or so he thought, until a month later, when Leia came marching up. “I have news.”

“Oh?” Luke said distractedly, eyeing the fencepost he and Han had been trying to hit with rocks for the past hour. Han had soundly been kicking Luke’s ass. Luke sighed. Destined to suck even at throwing pebbles.

“It’s about Vader’s son.”

That got Luke’s attention instantly. His head snapped towards Leia, who was gazing down at her datapad. Han, for once, leaned forward with interest instead of lazily reclining.

Son? They had already found out it was a son?

“We also weren’t expecting to have so much luck so soon,” Leia responded, Luke realizing he had accidentally blurted his thoughts out loud in a panic.

He rocked back on his feet with a tentative, “That’s good.”  Or not. It was in fact, bad. Very, very bad. But nothing else about Luke’s life was going well for him at the moment, so he just wearily accepted that this was going less than amazingly too.

“So, what did you actually find?” Han interrupted impatiently. “The kid and I were busy.”

Leia shot him a scorching look, then briskly pulled up something on her datapad. “Our spies in the Empire have informed us that based on communications between Vader and the Emperor, Vader’s child is a boy. Vader frequently refers to him as one.”

Oh, that was all. Luke could have told them that. After all, Luke actually---

Luke shoved down the thought before it took off. He didn’t like anything about Vader. Nothing. Zero, zilch, nada. He would have even told the Alliance Vader's son hated him out of sheer spite, if it wouldn’t blow his cover (? As much of a cover as someone’s real identity could be) apart.

“Huh…welp, one step closer to finding him,” Han meandered to find another pebble, clearly bored with the conversation once it was clear no other information was forthcoming.

“Yes. We’ve managed to eliminate half of our list of potential identities.”

Half of zero was still zero, Luke thought comfortingly.

“You know,” Han said reflectively, “You could cut down the list more by focusing on known Force sensitives.”

Wait—

“We’ve actually already planned on doing so,” Leia’s tone said she wasn’t about to be outdone by Han. “But thank you for the suggestion.”

Wait—

A lazy grin. “Anytime, your worshipfulness. In fact—”

“I don’t know if that’s a good idea,” Luke cut in loudly (and desperately).

Both Han’s and Leia’s eyebrows shot up.

“Luke…” Leia began after a beat, “I know this must be stressful for you, knowing that Vader likely has his son after you too—”

“But, kid, I wouldn’t sweat it,” Han finished. “If Vader hasn’t gotten you yet, his son isn’t gonna either.”

Luke didn’t respond. He was staring down at his hand. A silence fell as Han and Leia watched him.

“Vader won’t touch you,” Leia said fiercely. “Never again. He’s scum, Luke. He’s scum, and one day, we’ll defeat him. I know it.”

It should have been comforting. But Luke just felt sick. He knew what Leia meant by defeat. Doing otherwise was unthinkable. Yet somehow…

“Him, and his son,” Han added.

Luke was done. After dropping a curt, “Sure,” he walked off, shaking his head while muttering.  He felt Han and Leia’s eyes on his back but ignored it. They wouldn’t guess the truth. No one had. Luke scowled and kicked at the ground. No one could believe that he and Vader had anything to do with each other. Luke knew he should be delighted, but all he could think of was Obi-Wan telling him how Luke was so much like his father, recalling it with a wistfulness that ashamed him. Luke—he’d wanted—well—

Anyway, that was probably yet another one of Obi-Wan’s lies, Luke dismissed firmly. He was profoundly lucky that he and Vader were so dissimilar; it was the only thing saving his ass right about now.

Still, Luke spent the rest of the afternoon wandering the base alone.
